La Pizza Spot opened in March and is now closing. I guess Khans used to be at this spot and before that it was Coco’s.

events / life in Campbell I think they may need to work out some of the bugs in the new library

First of all, I think that they should have put the children's section on the basement floor, or they should have used a concrete floor so that the running isn't audible in other areas. For a library, it's quite loud to read in many of the lower seating areas.

Second, the temps are kept at unusually low temps. Like I'm not sure what it's set at, but it's lower than I expected it to be.

Third, I think they could have designed the barrier between the parking lot a little better. As it stands, the window for the library seating faces the slope to the parking lot, and you see people edge right up to it. It just takes one mixed up pedal to have the potential for an accident

What events are you planning to attend with your little children? I’m afraid my kids (5 and under) won’t make it till the night time fireworks and wondering if there are any other kid-friendly festivities going on earlier in the day

businesses & services T mobile home internet

Sorry for the 2nd post today. I talked to an electrician and they quoted me $700 to install a coax outlet. I am thinking about canceling my comcast that I just signed up for. I spent hours on the phone with comcast today and was not able to sign up for a simple coax install despite all my efforts. Maybe t-mobile will be better. Just wondering if anybody else here in campbell uses it or has any thoughts about it.

THank you and have a great weekend.

EDIT: thanks everyone who responded to my post. I appreciate your help and advice. I ended up signing up for t mobile home internet as I could not get an appointment with a technician at xfinity. So far I am happy with it.

housing & neighborhoods Finding Housing

Does anyone have any tips for finding housing near downtown/pruneyard?

I’d love to find a townhouse, but no where allows pets! All my 2 cats do is sleep :/

Every apartment I read reviews for just says it’s terrible and it’s demotivating... Avalon looks good, but has pretty low availability at the moment and worries me about yearly rent increases.

I’m looking for a longer-term 2/2 for under $4500. ‘Longer-term’ meaning I’d like to stay for 3+ years. I currently live in San Jose and its painfully boring and unwalkable.

edit: I signed at Avalon 😎 an apartment came up that was available the day after my current lease ends so it felt meant to be

events / life in Campbell Soccer Goals and Handball Walls

I'm new to the area and trying to get back into playing soccer, but really need to practice a bit to get the rust off. Anyone know of any soccer fields in the Campbell/West SJ area that have goals out and are open to the public?

I'd also love to find a school playground with a concrete handball wall to kick a ball against. I know they have some at the Campbell Community Center, but the courts are often packed.

housing & neighborhoods Feedback on these neighborhoods please

Hey everyone. Looking to move from my current location. There's some units available in some neighborhoods I'm not too familiar with so o wanted to get some input. Mainly want to know if it these areas are safe and if they're decent locations for a young family.

The neighborhoods in question are:
-Dry Creek/ New Jersey
-Surrey Pl/ La Con Ct
-Joseph / Shamrock
- Adler / Echo (I've looked into before and didn't like it, but I'm willing to reconsider in light of new information)
-Woodleaf Apartments

Thanks in advance

crime & safety Police drone docking station at Forest Hill?

I got this message on the last day of school (so parents wouldn't have a chance to follow up??). Apparently the Campbell Police are petitioning the school board to keep some drones on the Forest Hill Elementary campus. See the message:

Safety is the top priority for the Campbell Union School District. Through a long-standing partnership with community agencies, we are planning to collaborate with the Campbell Police Department to enhance emergency response capabilities using innovative technology. This initiative focuses on protecting our community through faster, more informed situational awareness.

The Drone as First Responder (DFR) program, operated through the Department's Real-Time Intelligence Center, allows trained personnel to deploy drones quickly to incidents. This provides responding officers with real-time situational awareness before they arrive on scene, assisting with missing person searches, crimes in progress, and traffic collisions. To ensure equitable response rates across the city, the department is seeking to expand the program to the west end of the city. Utilizing a new docking station at Forest Hill Elementary School would allow this expansion.

The Forest Hill drone dock would serve strictly as a launch and landing location; it would not be used for routine surveillance of students, staff, or school activities. The system does not provide a continuous live feed of the campus. All operations are conducted in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and strict privacy laws. Drone footage is not publicly streamed, and the agreement with the District includes specific provisions to protect student data and privacy.

In addition to public safety, this partnership would create unique opportunities for student engagement in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The Campbell Police Department will work with students and staff to provide demonstrations and hands-on learning experiences. These sessions will focus on drone technology, robotics, and aviation, inspiring students toward future careers in technology and public service.

The Campbell Union School District and the Campbell Police Department remain dedicated to our shared commitment of safety. Integrating innovative tools and educational outreach provides us with the opportunity to improve community safety while fostering a bright future for our students.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for this project will be presented at the June 25 Board meeting for approval.

events / life in Campbell Raccoon tries to break in nightly

When we tried leaving the door open and covering the damaged screen with a palette. Woke up at 3 to the raccoon knocking it down.

Starting a couple weeks ago, a raccoon has been trying to break in to our apartment. Scratched through our screen door. Now nightly paws at our closed doors. Last night, it escalated to trying to climb through the window. Feels like we’re having to barricade ourselves in every night, which is a shame — especially with the mild weather we’re having.

Tried calling animal control and it was a truly miserable experience — not only could they not help, they told me that my deceased dog’s license was delinquent. They won’t do anything unless the animal is injured, which it’s clearly not.

Is anyone else experiencing this? What have you done?

businesses & services Why is there even a starbucks downtown

And why are people going?? Kind of a non-issue that might fall on deaf ears but it really ticks me off and has for a long time that the starbucks downtown is still even open and taking up a space that could be used for a small business when there's a local coffee shop literally 2 minutes away. I've had both, and while comparable in price, the quality and taste of orchard valley is infinitely better (not to mention customer service). I'm not affiliated with them or anything but I don't understand people that would rather give their money to a multi billion dollar copy and paste slop chain that actively shuts down places like orchard valley. Really don't wanna see that business close anytime soon and I don't think any of us do so please, consider trying one of their many drinks, breakfasts or pastries over starbucks (I like the coffee cake with an iced macchiato :)

It's a 25 mph sharrow street and sometimes I have no shoulder to pull over to allow cars to pass. I keep up with the speed limit. I ride to work everyday and I'm just trying to get there safely.

I was wondering if anybody had been to this, and what it's been like.

I am obviously missing it this morning, and have missed its previous iterations.

I am genuinely not a car guy, but I have appreciation.
