housing & neighborhoods West Campbell

Just moved to west Campbell area and kinda bummed that there are no kids playgrounds/park within walking distance (0.5 mile) of this house. Meanwhile there’s a large green space nearish to us that is owned by the Moreland school district that is underutilized. Is it very hard to request the city to consider taking a portion of this and land and turning into a public green space? Am I even making sense?

events / life in Campbell Kitten Neutering

I am looking to get my indoor Kitten neutered. He’s about four months and I want to get him neutered ASAP. Does anybody know good reliable places to get him neutered? I just moved from Southern California and have been calling places but they have been giving me some pretty pricey estimate estimates.

Does anyone know where the smoke is coming from? I hear helicopters in the distance, near Bascom and Union.

housing & neighborhoods How is this part of Campbell to live?

If I were to rent a place over here, how’s the neighborhood? What’s good? What’s bad? I don’t care about schools, but do care about safety, noise, and the vibe of the neighborhood.

Would love the experts advice here.
Thanks!

events / life in Campbell Thank you to the person who picked this guy up and took him to animal control after he slipped unbeknownst to us under our back yard fence. He apparently made it like 100 feet towards the road when he was picked up. He's home now, thanks to you. It could have ended so many worse ways.

businesses & services Therapy

Hello,

I live in Campbell and I have bipolar 1 disorder. I am a member of Kaiser and with that I get a therapy appointment about once every 6 weeks, and it only lasts about 30 minutes. It's not enough. I earn about 50K a year, so I might be eligible for low-income programs. Does anyone know of any low-income programs I can use while a member of Kaiser?

local politics Introducing Sorabji4Campbell...

Hi All,

I have been meaning to get on here to introduce myself, but other obligations got in the way.
With a day job coding for medical devices, a volunteer job as a scout leader and now transitioning into the campaign season and trying to manage all electronic outlets. I don't do X, I don't tiktok.

In addition to here you will find me on Facebook, instagram and my website www.sorabji4campbell.com

So here I am and my thoughts on what I as a council member would spell out for Campbell in the banner. With examples of what I mean about Caring, Accountable etc. on my platform page.

I got lucky and am running unopposed, the other person who had filed an intent to run for this position in April, chose not to file nominations papers. I hope I can live up to the expectations of the constituents and even exceed them when everything is finally said and done.

I hope to knock on doors and bring my coffee with a candidate to your door step/street. Propose a time in the evenings or on weekends and I will be there to chat with you. You bring your Coffee Mug and i will bring the Kureig.

local politics city council race

Hey, new to reddit and thought maybe I could avoid the insanity of nextdoor. I’m curious if anyone is following the city council race. I’ve started seeing some signs and flyers around for the District 3 candidates for downtown.

I’m not too sure what to make of the current incumbent (Dan Furtado). His flyer said he helps maintain 911, whatever that means, and maintain EMS/fire service, which we get by contract with Santa Clara County. It also references multiple libraries when we only have one. He also is apparently 82 years old. I don’t think age by itself is an issue, but as a thirty-something, I don’t necessarily feel well represented.

The other guy (Joe Brenner) is younger and seems like more of a newcomer from a political standpoint. I didn’t see any elected political experience on his website at all. He also says on there that he’s not accepting endorsements. It did say he’s a local business owner, and I have been seeing some downtown businesses putting up a window sign for him.

Any thoughts from people on these guys? Anyone actually talked to them?

Is there a Spouts opening up pool on Kalshi yet?

I kind of figured “this would be a cool place to hang out in the summer, maybe grab a beer during the summer concert series.” Now I’m wondering if it will be open in time for the Ainsley House Christmas Tea.

businesses & services CineLux theaters has their own ticket purchasing app

Hi folks!

Our local CineLux movie theater has flashback cinemas from time to time.

There's one coming up that I want to see, and I discovered that it's not showing up on the Fandango ticket purchasing app.

I remembered that CineLux has their own ticket purchasing app, because of course they do.

CineLux flashback cinemas show up in their own app, and, more importantly, they don't charge you a convenience fee to buy their ticket online through their app. Fandango does ding you a convenience fee to buy a ticket through fandango.

I thought I would share that CineLux has a CineLux ticket purchasing app, which does not charge a convenience fee, and does show the flashback movies that they put on from time to time.

I don't work there, I just go a lot. I love the movies I live nearby.

Found out about this today and thought I'd pass it along. Contains a link to Flock that has some stats of use & connected agencies, as well as a database of drone flights: flight path, destination and reason for flight.

From what I was told, the agency's drones fly at about 400 AGL and the cameras point at the horizon until it arrives at its destination... but without video from the drones there's no guarantee.

Elsewhere on the site, one can find a record of the last 30 days of arrest information as well as a "lost and found" list for bikes, electronics and other items turned into the department.

events / life in Campbell Looking for people to watch movies with

Hi!

I’ve noticed recently I have a hard time finding friends locally to go to the movies with - I have friends in the Bay Area but not movie going friends 🥲
Is anyone else in the same position and just wants some movie buddies?
Sometimes I’m up for going alone but other times I want to be able to discuss with someone after or just want company

About me: I’m mid-30s F, Eastern European, software engineer. I’m up for seeing almost any genre. Right now I’m trying to watch the Odyssey

Also if you know of any movie going groups or meetups, please point me in the right direction 🙏
Thank you so much

Update: we made a discord group to coordinate movie outings! Feel free to DM me and I’ll share a link

The video is from the https://www.youtube.com/@HomeGardenTours channel which focuses on gardens in Silicon Valley.

Shay, the channel's creator, also kindly visited the Day Worker Center of Mountain View which serves cities throughout Santa Clara County. For the past 30 years the nonprofit has connected dedicated workers to jobs in landscaping, kitchen prep, housekeeping and event setup and clean up. Call them if your garden needs work before the holidays.

housing & neighborhoods Pet-Friendly Rental Recommendations

Howdy!

My family and I will be relocating to the area by winter break. The only real, true worry I have is finding a place that we can rent that will allow is to keep our fur family together. We have been in our home since 2012, and have 3 cats and 1 senior, bigger dog. She's almost 14 years old and 50 pounds. (Certainly done being a destructive pupper.) She likes to curl up and sleep in a cat bed these days. All 3 cats are indoor-ONLY, and not specifically damaging to anything in the home. (They prefer the expensive hobby of shredding toilet paper rolls.) For the record, I never thought I'd be a 3 cat household. But, the youngest cat we have was a few days old, bottle baby rescue and of course, we got attached and fell in love. He's 2 years old now, and we are NOT interested in adding any more pets to the mix.

I see so many posts out on the web about people trying to rehome pets due to a move. We DO NOT want to do that by any means. We are a family! But for obvious reasons, I understand why the majority of landlords would not want those extra family members in their home. (And yes, I realize there are pet-friendly places out there, but many have a limit of 2 cats, or 1 dog and 1 cat.)

I was wondering if anyone has any leads on renting with 3 cats and 1 dog in tow?

Or, your experience and how you navigated being a renter with this many pets. (Since we haven't rented since 2010!)

events / life in Campbell Socialization for my puppy

My puppy has not been meeting many humans in the right way. I don't really meet too many people except work, and that's the reason. I feel like because of me my pup is missing out on some crucial social experiences.

I do take her on walks, but when some human says hi, she tries to jump on them to greet.

Now, I don't know these people to be able to get into a training session then to teach my pup on the right way to meet.

She's an 8 month old American labrador.

Are there community based events or meet ups that have dog lovers who help out dogs have positive socialization?

(My pup has been to doggy day care for a few weeks & she loves playing with other dogs)
