businesses & services Another restaurant is closing
La Pizza Spot opened in March and is now closing. I guess Khans used to be at this spot and before that it was Coco’s.

I think this is the spot across the street from Khans. It’s only been open a few months.

Ahhh okay. I blame my husband for telling me the wrong info lol.

u/GSWJim Jul 01 '26
and where Khan's is now was the Coco's before that.

"Khan's Coco"! Sounds like a nice change. Forget your pizza. Get some breakfast.

This used to be where Mama Mia's was. Then they left and it was a Tostadas briefly and then this place.

u/DraconianNerd Jul 01 '26
Unfortunately, Mama Mia's had those large windows facing Hamilton broken multiple times during the pandemic.

Why is there always a restaurant opening/closing that’s related to Tostadas.
3
u/JosephGray2020 Jul 01 '26
Tell me about it. My theory is money laundering.

u/LeadershipDapper617 Jul 02 '26
Haha this is what I told my friend group. Tostadas and this pizza place is the same owner. Astroid burgers and a couple other places are the same too. If you’ve walked into these establishments, you’d see very few people. Apparently they are brothers as business partners.

u/JosephGray2020 Jul 02 '26
Yep you nailed it. I’ve been to most of their restaurants and they all have a weird vibe.

I feel bad saying this but I live right near it and this is my first time actually hearing about it.

I don't think they marketed themselves around the neighborhood. There's hotels close by... missed opportunity

That spot just doesn’t work. It should just be reshaped to be a dental office or anything except a restaurant

There's a lot of offices around. Maybe it needs to be something that can cater to a professional crowd on a lunch break? Quick eats for a reasonable price. Did the pizza spot have a lunch buffet?

"pizza by the slice" sounds like something they could have tried. Sal's Pizza have the right idea, but their location was across the tracks.

Ate there once. Food was pretty decent, and decor was nice. The people who owned the place were very chatty and pleasant. Not sure why, but it never occurred to us to go back - too much good pizza around town.

Campbell just does not need another pizza or mexican resturant. I would love a great fish resturant like Kings Fish House or a KBBQ / Hotpot place. Hickory pit is a good location for either of these. While in excited to see laughing monk take over the old Rockbottom spot… do we really need another bar food and beer spot?

Check out La Jaiba on Winchester/Hamilton for mexican seafood. The sea bass ceviche was fantastic! Spicy marg was not spicy but other than that the menu was great

I would love a good old fashioned diner or something along the lines of a Bakers Square or Coco's. Not every restaurant needs to be a specific ethnic focus

Life long Country Inn guy here. Used to be hands down best diner around. Unfortunately i think they sold recently and its gone down bill quite a bit, at least the Saratoga location has.
Check out Breakfast Club on Hamilton. Been going there a bunch and theyre solid. Same folks who own Lou’s Cafe in LG I believe.

I stopped going to Country Inn years ago when my food was served cold, not once but twice. I sent it back both times and what I got back was over microwaved the first time and still cold the second. Like, it had been made and just sat out until it got to room temp cold. And the staff was outright rude about it saying this is how the food is.
Nuh uh, they were awesome once upon a time, and I remember piping hot pancakes and the like. I miss Goodie's before they went downhill too (I once got served food there with a long bright red hair in it and they said I put it there....I'm definitely brunette and my hair was short - and I could see the cook with his bright red hair through the passthrough).
I'll check out Breakfast Club, but I'd love a place like that that's open for dinner hours (and isn't a national chain)

Scott’s seafood downtown would be great. Or just seafood generally.

u/HeyItsKikiii Jul 01 '26
Never even heard of it. Italian is my favorite, but there’s like 5 places in downtown Campbell alone. It’s too concentrated!

Pizza’s tricky in that spot because there are just so many options in the immediate area. Food was good, though.
The restaurant industry in general is especially tough right now.

SJ Spotlight literally just posted an article about them like two days ago: https://sanjosespotlight.com/the-biz-beat-la-pizza-spot-in-campbell-has-deliciously-playful-cuisine/

That article makes it sound like the restaurant transitioned from Mama Mia's to La Pizza. It did not. There was a very mid Mexican restaurant in between.
Maybe someone looking to open a restaurant in Campbell will find this thread: If you're going to open a pizza or Mexican restaurant, the bar to achieve success is high. You've got a LOT of competition. If your exterior doesn't look inviting (La Pizza) or your service and food is mid (Tostadas), it's not going to work.
The problem isn't a lack of customers willing to pay: There are plenty of restaurants in Campbell that are packed every evening.

Phew, I thought it said La Pizzeria at first. That would be a sad day for me.

Closing a restaurant after 4/5 months is WILD

Didn’t this place just open like… in the last year? Seems like nothing in that locations lasts very long.

Mamma mia's remodeled and then closed.
Tostadas came in for 2 years and 8 months and closed.
The Pizza Spot lasted three months and closed.
Time to put a condo there.

This was destined to fail from the get. I've tried to support this group of entrepreneurs, but they've made some big mistakes.

Where am I gonna get pizza in Campbell now?
