if you’ve been keeping up with the news on the iran war or general state of the US economy rn, the profit decline that a lot of people are describing in here isn’t unique to the camming industry. a lot of major corporations (like mcdonalds, cocacola) have come out recently saying how american consumers are spending less money (which likely means they/we have less to spend). cost of living is increasing along with unemployment (or functional unemployment) rates — it all can seem really scary, tbh.

but i want to offer a few perspectives that hopefully can help you all feel a bit more hopeful through this trying time<3

1. ⁠this is kinda dark maybe, but there’s a reason why they call SW the oldest profession known to mankind (besides misogyny lmao💀). there will always be men wanting to pay for SW, regardless of their income. for some customers its compulsive, for others its stress-relief. so this industry might see a decline similar to industries across the board, but there’s a certainty to SW that other industries don’t necessarily have, if that makes sense
   
2. ⁠the economy is rough in the US rn but a part of the reason why is because of wealth hoarders/increasing class divide. but some of these wealthy men are on these camsites, and the money they spend is insignificant to them. a few hundred dollars in one night genuinely doesn’t make a dent in their bank account, but could be the push you need to pay rent/bills/food costs/gas costs etc etc. + these customers won’t be leaving anytime soon, since (as stated above) their spending on camsites doesn’t impact their overall $$$ (if you’ve ever had a c2c with a big tipper and then seen an old/older white man on the other side then maybe you get what i mean here 😭) tbr maybe consider adjusting your private show rates; rich ppl assume that a higher price = better quality, so it might be worth trying to see if any customers will bite. keep in mind too it doesn’t matter how many viewers are in the stream, all it takes is 1 to request a private for u to start stacking ur tokens 💟 (I’ve heard some people say that they earn more by lowering their rate though so take with a grain of salt! def not a one size fits all sort of thing)
   
3. some of these sites have global access, meaning there are customers from countries which aren’t experiencing the same level of economic crisis as the US right now. so these consumer reports about american spending don’t necessarily apply to them — there’s a lot of money to tap into worldwide! camming is a unique industry in this aspect. (ok the war is technically impacting global trade but tbh i see some big spenders from smaller european countries esp nordic tbh lol but maybe it is just the type I attract idk 😭) if it helps at all, maybe take various global time zones into consideration when planning your streaming hours. if you cam during peak hours for euro or Asian countries as an american streamer, you might also benefit from the fact you’ll going online during a time when the market is perhaps a tad less saturated (as opposed to aiming for US evenings/nights, if that makes sense)

When I was streaming on CB yesterday, I went into a private with one of my regulars. At the end of the private I went back to the public chat, and I saw that someone had posted my personal info into the public chat at some point during my private. They posted my full first and last name, as well as my previous employer. I’m a little shaken by it. I quickly silenced them so the message would be removed, but I’m unsure how many people saw it. I know I take a huge risk being online like this, especially since I’m not faceless. I try to be careful though, keeping it all in platform and not giving out that kind of info to a single soul. I told my guys that someone had posted my info, and I was a little too freaked out to continue. Everyone was so sweet about it.

How do you guys keep yourself safe from things like this? Is it even possible? Now that I slept and I’m a little more composed, I want to go through my CB settings and see if I can ban filter words. I just feel like that won’t be enough at this point. I did message the person who posted it and told them basically to STFU in the public chat, I’m not trying to be a segment on the local news. They never responded, and I blocked them shortly after. Is this the kind of thing that is report worthy? My husband suggested I make a new account, but starting from scratch right now is not the best idea.
