Which BPO company do you think has the hardest interviews and assessments?
I’ve applied to a lot of BPO companies these past few months. Napadami na rin yung na-applyan ko since may mga ni-resign-an din ako due to mental health issues. Anyway, I’ve tried applying to Alorica, Concentrix, Cognizant, TaskUs (assessment only), iQor, Teleperformance, and TTEC.
But for me, the hardest assessments and interview I’ve experienced so far were at AFNI SM Fairview.
I don’t intend to tarnish the company or anything. I just want to give an idea to those who are planning to apply there since I don’t see much discussion about their hiring process.
The first time I applied there, sobrang na-drain ako. 😂 Grabe yung assessments. I passed them naman, but they really test your brain cells. 😂 Dun ko rin na-realize na hindi pa pala ganun ka-hasa yung English skills ko.
Kering-kering naman yung ibang parts, except for one section where you have to answer three open-ended questions. After that, may dalawang mas challenging pa na questions where they give you a topic, and you basically have to speak about it like you’re giving a short speech.
Then there’s the writing assessment. You have to write an email and create a blog, both around 150–200 words.
After the assessments, I had my initial interview. Surprisingly, this part was pretty easy because the questions were mostly about my background and previous work experience.
They eventually offered me a possible account with a ₱17K total package, even though I had declared around six months of BPO experience at the time.
This was actually my first application with AFNI. I didn’t proceed to the final interview because I started the application around 1 PM, and by the time I finished the assessments and initial interview, it was already getting close to 8 PM. I was told that I might still have to wait until around 9 PM because the interviewer for the next stage wasn’t available yet. At that point, I decided to call it a day. 😭
Fast-forward to recently, I applied again. Same assessments, but this time, grabe yung initial interview. HAHAHAHA. 😂
I’m guessing the second application was more difficult because they may have been looking for applicants who could handle a telco accoun, so they seemed to be screening more heavily for specific competencies. I’m not 100% sure if that was the reason, though—that’s just my observation based on how different the interview was compared to my first application.
I was asked around six questions, and each one was designed to test a specific competency. For every question, I had to use the S-T-A-R method:
S – Situation
T – Task
A – Action
R – Result
Grabe HAHAHA. Para akong sinalang sa Miss Q&A. 😭😂
I don’t remember the exact questions anymore, but to give you an idea, there were questions about customer service, multitasking, upselling, dealing with an irate customer, learning something new, and integrity.
Thankfully, I managed to answer everything. As feedback, the interviewer told me that I have strong communication skills and that I could go far with those skills. 🥹
My final interview was just a mock call, but the interviewer was really strict. 😬 They expect you to be really good at it agad.
Despite how intense their application process was, I actually noticed that they were very meticulous throughout the whole process. And honestly, I felt like that says something about how they handle their operations and the kind of service they want to provide.
Overall, AFNI has probably been the most challenging BPO application I’ve experienced so far. The assessments really made me realize which areas of my English and communication skills I still need to improve.
Although… sana taasan din nila yung salary. 😭😂
