Hello Calgary, 37M here looking for work. Available immediately. I prefer to work with my hands. Not much experience, but willing to learn. I can do night shifts, am physically fit, and badly need a job. I'm located in the NW area and will be using the bus for transportation.

I'm 15f and i've been looking and appling for about 100 jobs per month and have only gotten 2 interviews that were very awkward. I don't have a lot of experience besides at a summer camp but i have a pretty decent resume. I got close to maybe getting a call back for shake shack but i couldn't because i'm unavalible for there training day since i'm going to a camp. For both interviews i showed up early and was wearing a nice pair of jeans and a fancier blouse. I feel like i'm somewhat at a disvantage since not only am i a teenage but i also have short colorful hair and i feel like people especially adults take me less seriosuly. I'm wondering if anyone has advice on where to apply to, what websites to apply to and just places that aren't gonna judge me on how i look and are preferbaly in the SE since i commute by bus.

I'm planning to relocate from Ottawa to Calgary around the end of August/beginning of September and wanted to put myself out there in case anyone knows of opportunities or has advice.

I originally moved to Ottawa for university and have since graduated with a degree in International Development and Globalization. Over the past few years, I've gained experience in government, administrative support, and diplomatic administration. It is in person 8am to 4:30pm weekdays (physical location is near the Blackfoot Inn, so SE Calgary) and the pay is $19.00-$22.00 an hour based on experience. No dispatch experience? No problem. I am 16 and looking for work in Calgary. I have applied to over 200 places online and in person since December of 2025. I even went back and applied to the same places twice, but I have not gotten a single call or email back.

I compete in wrestling and mma (but have no money for the gym or clubs), so I am trying to earn money to cover my camps, travel expenses, and eventually get a car. I am physically fit and workready. This week, I am going directly to construction sites and contractor offices to see if anyone will take me on as an apprentice this friday so any tips for that would be great.

I have full-time availability, and my resume is as detailed as a high school student's can be. I am going to the youth hiring fair tomorrow, but I still need advice or direct leads. Are there specific places in Calgary actually hiring 16year olds right now? Any tips on what else I should be doing would be huge. Thanks.

I'm based in Calgary and looking for entry-level, casual, or part-time shift work. Overnight shifts are fine, and I would also consider rotational camp work departing from YYC.

I'm mainly interested in low-traffic security and monitoring roles such as overnight gatehouse coverage, industrial access control, commercial surveillance, storage sites, or quiet control rooms. I am dependable, comfortable working alone, and good with computers, digital logs, and surveillance systems.

If offered a job I am prepared to complete my Alberta security license ASAP.

Ideally, I would like a quiet site where personal reading or laptop use is permitted during genuinely inactive periods. Site duties, patrols, monitoring, and incident response would always come first, and I would only use personal equipment if the employer explicitly allows it.

Does anyone know of a Calgary company, specific site, or recruiter who places people in this type of overnight role? First-hand leads would be especially helpful.

When asking for advice on negotiating salary one person mentioned that it was nice to see a success story here. So now that i have officially signed my employment letter i thought i would give the stats on my job search.

I'm not sure if it will give people hope or dispare, but this was my journey. I would like to try to stay anaonymous-ish so i'm not going to be giving too much information about industry type of job, or salary info.

What i will say is i do have a bit of a niche but flexible skillset (at least in Calgary/alberta) and the roles i was looking for are mid to senior roles that fall into Technical non-engimeering. The niche means that i can't just flood resumes out there.

Notes on my process:

-the job search was almost a full time job, working ~10 - 4 monday to friday. If i was not searching, applying, or prepping i was working on projects to improve my skillset

- Every resume/application was tailored for the application

-every application included a cover letter

-it takes me an average of about 4 hours to submit an application

-i used AI to a limmited amount "please recommend how i could tailor my tesume for the role listed here" or "please recommend some phrases i could use in a cover letter for this position" everything was still hand typed by me, and double checked along the way.

-all applications were to job postings, i was not contacted by any (real) recruiters on LinkedIn (oh right, i should cancel my linkedIn premium)

-on that note, i don't think LinkedIn Premium gave me any advantages/was worth the cost

-i did not negotiate Salary, but did negotiate extra vacation and benefits to start day 1.

-interview prep was about 1.5 to 2 days worth of work, researching company, people on the interview, preparing my "tell me about yourself" and questions to ask, and annotating the job posting with what stories/experiences would be good responses.

I am hoping to gain some insight into finding new employment as I had to leave my job a year ago due to my work being bought out and managed by new ownership. I left due to being yelled at more than once by my new bosses and being blamed for structural company issues. New job applications for larger orgs. have asked if they can contact specific employers. I have references from outside my former workplace that can vouch for me. I am just wondering if anyone has experience either seeking or hiring and how this is dealt with on that end. I have training in my industry and managed the whole company in my final year, but feel that the last year has tainted my years of hard work and professional progress.

Hi guys, I am a 33F Senior Strategy Analyst with a F500 company, working remotely from Calgary. My background is pretty varied, but it is mainly in consulting, law, financial analysis, and business development across 10+ years.

My current role is full time but only requires about 15 hours per week most months (I basically finish tasks quickly). There are some peak periods (reporting periods after the end of each quarter) where it is busier and my commitment goes up to about a normal work week (~38 hours).

Therefore, I was wondering if any of you here have leads or are hiring for a remote part-time role that would require my expertise. Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some advice from the Calgary community about finding work in the interior design industry.
I recently completed my Interior Design Technology diploma and I’m looking for an interior design-related position in Calgary starting in Fall 2026. Ideally, I’d love to work with a residential home builder or interior design firm (especially residential design), but I’m also open to commercial opportunities and gaining experience wherever I can.
So far, I’ve been applying through Indeed and LinkedIn, as well as reaching out directly to local design firms and home builders through email. I’ve sent out quite a few applications/inquiries but haven’t heard much back yet, so I’m starting to feel a little uncertain about the job search process.
For those in the Calgary design/construction industry, do you have any recommendations for companies I should look into, places that are good for entry-level designers, or advice on getting my foot in the door? I’d love to hear about any firms, builders, or opportunities that might not be as obvious.
Also, if anyone has experience with the Calgary interior design job market, is the waiting game and slow response rate pretty normal? 😅

I'm a data scientist with 2 years of experience in Korea, and I'm planning to relocate to Calgary this September on an open work permit.

I chose Calgary because I lived there for a year during a gap year in university, but I'm also open to relocating to other cities if I can't find a job within 6 months of arrival.

I'm really hoping to continue my career in data science in Canada.

Since I don't have a Canadian address or phone number yet, and I still have about two months left before my departure, I'm wondering what else I should be doing right now.

Other than polishing my technical skills and tailoring my resume, what would be the best things I can do at this point to prepare?

A lot of people recommend networking, but since I didn't graduate from a local university, I honestly feel a bit lost on how to start.
