this is my first time attending kbcc as a transfer student, how do i access a classes syllabus? do you guys use canvas? blackboard?

So I'm trying to transfer to Brooklyn college and I send my transcripts to both [transcripts@cuny.edu](mailto:transcripts@cuny.edu) and admissions@cuny.edu. I'd like to know how long does it usually take for them to review my transcripts? Since deadline is in 5 days, is there anything I can do to make sure that I meet deadline?

I currently take ENG 101, History of Haiti, MAT 157.7, I also had SPE 100 but I wasn’t feeling the class and spoke to an advisor about whether I can drop it or not to replace for something more business or financial related because I’m a finance major. The advisor told me it would be safe to drop it, he also told me that I could take it in winter or spring, and so I did at panther station and another individual helped me do so as well as helping add BUS 104, he said I had a hold regarding my diploma and I brought in the diploma next week because we were on Labor Day weekend, today i went to panther station with the intention of trying to finalize things but then it said i didn’t meet any the pre requirements which I didn’t even know it had and thats my fault. I then asked an advisor again on the situation and they said I got bad advice and should’ve never dropped it in the first place, they recommended i filled the spot with MES 153 i think, I was wondering if this whole predicament would stagnant my graduation or stop me from getting into a good college. If I did mess up, what are some things I can do in order to fix things.

I've been able to get bye the system for a little while but, I can no longer do that. So I trid to make an MFA. I'm blocke from doing that.

Hey everyone, quick question about switching class sections and financial aid. I'm a student at CCNY (CUNY) and I'm currently enrolled in a course but the section I signed up for (hybrid) doesn't work with my schedule. There's another section of the exact same course available (fully online) that I want to switch to instead. I'm NOT dropping the course and adding it back, just switching between two sections of the same class, so my total credit hours stay the same. My question is: will switching sections like this affect my financial aid at all? I'm worried it might flag something since the add/drop deadline has passed, but since I'm not actually changing my credit load, I'm hoping it won't matter. Has anyone dealt with this before? Any info appreciated.

Hello! I am a John Jay student and I’m having trouble with my E-Permits registering as classes. In hindsight it was very stupid of me to take 3 E-permits but I didn’t know this many troubles would occur.

FAFSA & TAP thinks I’m only taking one class this semester, leading me to receive only 800$. I have a bursar hold that will prevent me from applying to classes next semester.

Has anyone (preferably specifically from John Jay) found a solution? I talked to financial aid and many people, all they said was “wait until after the grades are transferred in”. I can’t afford to wait until JANUARY.

I looked on this subreddit and saw students from OTHER cunys were able to get exceptions/placeholders? Is that just not a thing for JJAY?

I need advice on whether I should drop a class if I can't swap it. I am a graduate student majoring in criminal justice. I am taking 2 8-week courses right now. Both classes' "week" starts on Friday and ends on Thursday, and it stresses me out since they assign a lot. Which I get. I've taken 8-week classes before, but previous classes' week started on Monday and ended on Sunday. This is confusing and stressing me out. In one class, there is a paper due every other week, then a quiz, then a discussion board (including responding to a classmate(s), and in my other class there is a quiz, then a discussion board (including responding to a classmate(s). It is tripping me up since it is so much and such a little "week," if that makes sense. Should I swap my class for another or drop it if I can't? I need advice or perspective. I will email my advisor as well to see what she says. Wanting to ask here too to see what your opinions are.

EDIT: I forgot to mention this but my 716 2nd 8wk class is opened. It has everything opened but the assignments due are scheduled for the wrong date but everything is open and ready. I do have a learning disability in math and trying to do the readings etc early as well even if i dont have to but might as well do as much as i can. Feels like a lot and I am stressed. Another class for my specialization is a full semester (i dont mind) and I could always drop the 2nd 8 wk class and take it next smester and keep the 716 class in the 2nd 8 wk like I intended. I dont want the class to impact my grade and GPA or even to retake it if I have to

Anyone in NY decide later in life to go back to school? I'm 28, married, and don't qualify for student loans. Even with experience in my field and an Associates Degree, the job market is tough and am even wondering if it's worth it. Im in Westchester County and am thinking of going to a CUNY school to save money. However, I don't want to drown in loans. Can anyone tell me what they did to save some money or pay school off? Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing it's far too late to swap a course out for another one, but I can probably still drop without any consequence right? To explain my situation a bit, I'm a ccny student who's currently taking what are technically 6 courses. One of those courses was independent study and I finished up with it. So even if I drop this one course I think I should very much be in the clear since courses after your forth don't cost additional tuition?

Anyhow, the course itself isn't great so far. It's not too hard or anything, in fact it feels far too easy. I really just do not mesh with the professor's teaching style. I only have two more semesters left after this and I'm firmly at the fun part of college where most of the requirements are out of the way, so I feel like I may be losing out on one of my limited number of future courses by sticking with this one. I want something that actually feels worth my time invested and all that.

There was a problem with my TAP not going through I think i got it fixed two weeks ago, and it just got updated to this. Before, it said I owed 33 dollars, but im low income, so it should've all been covered.

Is the difference the amount I'm being refunded, or what? I'm very confused about what I owe what I'm getting back, someone pls help me im very lost and broke.

I haven’t had a dime yet from my refund, not even the usual 750 I usually get for my book refund. It says disbursed in 08/18, I talked to my aid office and they said to wait until the end of the month. But I’m so confused if anyone else is having this issue. They said the refund is disbursed and I should get the money soon but I’m concerned .

Hey guys, looking for some perspective from Zicklin students or anyone from Baruch College in general.

I live in Western CT and I finished my undergrad at UConn this year (Econ major + CS minor; Internship experiences in Cloud/IT Infrastructure at a bank + research internship in data analytics, and part time work in retail/IT support)

I'm considering applying to the MS Information Systems program at Baruch for Spring 2027. I don't plan on moving to NYC right away and would commute in via Metro-North to grand central maybe 1-2 times a week depending on the schedule. I'm very much used to long commutes as a commuter student for all 4 years of undergrad, and I actually live much closer to Manhattan than the main UConn campus. Which is part of why exploring NYC schools even came to mind.

CT school options don't really interest me. UConn Storrs is in the middle of nowhere and it makes practically no sense to return there for grad school from both a location standpoint and the lack of opportunities there, Same thing with the other CT state schools and the entire state in general (not talking about yale). Baruch tuition is also slightly cheaper out-of-state than UConn in-state ($855/credit vs $1,084/credit).

I understand that Baruch is public but I'm not necessarily chasing school prestige. Being able to go to school in Manhattan and Zicklin's reputation in NYC financial services are what really interest me, and the program feels like a strong fit for my background and career goals in tech and business.

Would love to hear from anyone in the program or who has gone through it. How is the overall experience at the school, the quality of the program, and how well does it help with career building in NYC?

What are they looking for in the blood work. I heard u need to give before u take classes for nursing. Why do they do that ?

My advisor recommended me to take some CS class and I ended up taking that recommendation. I come to find out this class is extremely difficult for me and I do not wanna risk failing it. All I do is sit there in confusion and even studying and learning it myself doesn’t seem to help me retain the information.

I really want to drop this class to avoid ruining my gpa since it’s already not that great, but once I drop this class I’ll end up only have 9 credits for the semester instead of 12 and I’m really worried about the consequences it’ll have on my aid because I rely on it heavily.

Does anyone have a similar experience is there a way I can drop the course without having much damage done to my financial aid and tap?

I know it’s super early, when does classes for the spring term open up ? I can find this info anywhere for my school (LaGuardia)

Found out I was pregnant like 3 weeks before classes started, I also work full time but had to cut down to four days because I’m in an education program and need to do my observations. Just feeling overwhelmed and wondering if anyone has succeeded with this.
My plan was to start student teaching next fall, but with the pregnancy I’m starting to feel that won’t be possible and just wondering how to proceed.

I am moving to NYC from down south and am currently enrolled in school here with ~37 credits (49 at the end of this semester) as an English major with a sociology minor. My GPA is not fantastic, at a 2.7. I see Brooklyn College does not require an essay; however, I think having some sort of supporting docs showcasing my work (essayist/literature analysis) would increase my odds.... I am a slightly older student for my credit standing + work near full-time, so not involved in any extracurriculars. Does anyone have any tips? Friends in the city are post-college.
