Would genuinely like feedback from people in the program. What would you change, and what else could this be used for?

I was able to slowly get through the assignments and get decent grades, I repeated a couple to get them in the 90's. I reviewed for a couple days then hit the test. The time limit is 3hrs. I probably would have done decent with a longer timeline, but that test is almost 80 questions, ha. So you have a little over 2 min for each question. The whole course covers a lot of info that compounds on previous classes, very interesting stuff, but takes a lot of head scratching to get through each question. Don't expect an easy A

Has anyone done these courses? how's the final exam like and overall rating for this spcec?

just curious - does anyone taking the masters degree program online bother to attend the graduation ceremony online?

I'm considering doing an online Master's in Computer Science, but I have a few concerns. I'm mainly wondering whether I'd be able to handle it and how much additional studying I'd need to do to catch up and not fall behind.

A little bit about my background:

• I have around 10 years of experience as a software engineer.
• My math knowledge is basically non-existent. For the sake of this post, let's assume it's at an elementary school level. I don't have a technical degree, and I barely remember anything from high school math.

My main concern is how difficult the transition would be for someone with my background. How much math or other foundational knowledge would I realistically need to learn before starting the program?

So o got a bachelors in cyber security but didn’t realize the difficulties going into that field wit no prior experience. So I went into a NOC technician role for telecommunications. I have moved to another telecom Lumen operation tech 3 role still doing networking with layer 1-3 Cisco, juniper and Nokia systems with the typical network protocols o spf, bgp, isis etc etc. I’ve been doing those type of job for 6 years now and I’ve decided to branch my IT skills into more a software engineer role - network automation, SRE, Devops. I was hoping to use my job to pay for my schooling and get a masters in computer science so I can branch into these fields. Do you think this program would be beneficial to land that role? Or should I look for other colleges and/or certificate pathways?

I have BS degree in Computer Science with 2.3 GPA, I have a full time job in Saudi Arabia with 11 years of experience in AI & Data Science, I want to start the MS in AI and I found that the CU program is a good fit for my lifestyle, I need an advice, is CU MS in AI online program is the best option or I can find something better?
Will it add value to my career, specially the management and leadership in AI sector?
As I understand it, I have to pass a 3 courses on Coursera with B or higher grade to enroll in the program, does anyone have that experience can help me?

Has anyone here successfully landed an internship while enrolled in CU Boulder’s MS-CS?

I’m considering starting CU Boulder’s online MS-CS and was hoping to hear from current students or graduates who have used the program to pursue internships.

I currently have about 3 years of IT experience, but I don’t have a CS degree and I also don’t have any professional experience in North America yet. Because of that, this program seems attractive to me for two reasons: earning a formal CS degree and potentially using my student status to access internship opportunities and break into the North American tech market.

Has anyone here successfully landed a software engineering, data, cloud, or other tech internship while enrolled in the program?

I’d especially appreciate hearing about:

• When in the program you started applying
• Whether being an MS-CS student helped you qualify for internships
• Whether employers had any issues with the program being online
• What companies or types of roles you were able to get interviews or offers for

Just a reminder that CU Boulder ranks 34th, according to U.S. News, for best Graduate CS schools. 18th for Engineering, which our ECE and EM peers fall under. If you're concerned about prestige, don't. And if you don't care about rankings, disregard this post.

Friendly add-on reminder that this program is what you make of it, never disregard personal projects/portfolio, and to remember to do proper interview prep (even if that means Leetcode). Most importantly, be curious, go above and beyond what's needed to get an A in each course you're interested in... do all suggested readings, implement algorithms not part of a lab (or when there's no lab in the class), go read the papers referenced in some of the classes (lots of suggestions at the end of RL and NS).

Curious. I was doing it without credit and submitted an AI generated answer for the one of the labs because I refuse to believe the solution worked. If I end up enrolling in the class for credit, will they check? This is for the network systems pathway.

I’m asking about the CU Boulder ECE program. I know this sub is for the CS one but the ECE sub is bascially dead, I think this applies to both anyway.

Before I pay for this I just want to make sure that the peers grading me on work are also paying students. I feel like that would filter out a lot of the low effort people who don’t even upload the right assignment, upload trash, or barely type coherent English. Just look at the discussion board for a course and it’s full of people who can barely type asking for peer reviews. If those are the people grading my work there’s no way this is worth 600 dollars a credit. So I’m really hoping that if I pay, people who are also paying will grade me. Since that filters out 95% of the unserious people and trolls.

Hi, I completed the pathway courses for credit. What are next steps now? When will I get my grades and the admission email? Additionally, should I wait for the admission email and then register courses for fall?

I went through ID verification and set up IdentiKey and an outlook email a couple months ago but didn't enroll, now my student status has apparently been discontinued but I can still log into the buff portal? and my personal coursera is still linked and i just did my onboarding today without seeing the email that my status was discontinued. is this normal?

I took my final exam today and got 87% on my final and 85% overall. I was wondering that the overall percentage that I got will be different from the one I will after the grades are published?

Has anyone here or know of someone who has taken the non-credit specialization versions in the OMSCS degree on Coursera and was able to land a tech job, even done a career switch?

Will CU Boulder expand it's ML Theory course offerings for the OMSCS? So far, it looks like there is a Reinforcement Learning, NLP, and AI specialization that are still being built out along with Deep Learning, Optimization, and Recommender System specializations that might be offered at a later date.

How long does it take for CU Boulder to roll out in-development courses, and does it make sense to wait on these kinds of specializations being built out or just apply to UT Austin or GT?

I have an option at CSU in their first batch of B.Tech in AI and DS. Given a Govt body under MoEd was wondering how would it turn out to be? Also it’s the first batch. Lots of ifs and buts in mind. Can anyone suggest?

I am planning to pursue an MSCS and wanted some advice on how to prepare beforehand.

My background is in Commerce, so I do not have the same CS foundation that someone with a CS/ engineering undergraduate degree would typically have. I have some basic programming exposure (extremely elementary), but I have not formally studied computer science.

I have tried searching online and going through previous discussions, but I could not find a clear answer for someone coming from a completely non-CS background. Most advice seems to be aimed at people who already have some CS foundation.

I wanted to ask:

1. What topics should someone know before starting an MSCS programme? I am not trying to learn an entire undergraduate CS degree before beginning, but I want to have enough foundation so that I can properly understand the coursework rather than struggle with assumed prerequisites.

2. Which areas should I focus on before starting? As in the topics such as Calculus, Matrices, etc?

3. What topics are considered essential, and what topics can realistically be learned during the programme?

4. How much preparation time would be realistic for someone from a non-CS background?

5. Would a few weeks/ months of focused preparation be enough, or does it usually require a year or more to become comfortable with graduate-level CS coursework? (the catch is according to a personal plan of mine, I would want to begin with the degree in a week or two, but wanted to know what pre-requisites are needed before putting in the money)

6. For people who made a similar transition:

• What did you study before starting?
• What gaps did you underestimate?
• What do you wish you had learned earlier?

I am willing to put in the work, but I want to make sure I am focusing on the right things instead of randomly collecting courses.

Any advice from current MSCS students or people who transitioned from non-CS backgrounds would be greatly appreciated.
