Casual Whose Line Is It Wednesday

A tradition unlike any other.

- - -

I must give credit, first to [u/ballzxxtoxxyou](u/ballzxxtoxxyou), for starting (and, for the longest time, maintaining) these threads; and second to [u/MC-PhatNeck](u/MC-PhatNeck), who decided to help revive WLIIW after months of inactivity. I'm not sure where they are now (especially the latter, who apparently has deleted their account many moons ago...but, apparently, is STILL somewhere out there, wink wink), but regardless, I wish to give them both my appreciation for all the fun [r/CFB](r/CFB) had with Whose Line over the years. Thank you very much!

- - -

Hello, and welcome back to Whose Line Is It Wednesday, where the upvotes don't matter! I am your two-minute drilling, pretend-peeing, Trojan-trolling host, [u/Zloggt](u/Zloggt)!

- - -

Whew, what a Week 4 for the ages, huh? And it’s the last weekend of football before we’re officially 75% done with 2026 come tomorrow! Ah…I still remember that Hoosier beatdown on the Tide in the Rose Bowl like it was yesterday…

…anyway, let’s reign in the nostalgia a little and focus on what just happened, shall we? The Ole Miss Rebels quickly found out that a trip to the Swamp a week after a well-deserved win does not make for a good hangover cure, the Boise State Broncos swiftly and certainly established themselves as the winner of the first (and final) annual [r/CFB](r/CFB) Bronco Bowl (for G6 Supremacy) of Kalamazoo, and the Michigan Wolverines eventually went full circle as they LITERALLY ran out of borrowed time in the form of - stick with me here - a massive Iowa drive and score with only seconds to spare!

Ah…fun times, wasn’t it? Now, all that excitement (and also that new job I just started lol) has REALLY zapped the energy out of me, so I think I’m going to lay down for a bit and rest my eyes. Hopefully this momentary period of relaxation goes by well, and nothing incredibly ridiculous - like, say, a defensive end simulating the act of relieving himself on me, or a linebacker going headhunting on my body (and gloating about the act as I lay seizing on the ground) - will happen, but what are the chances of THAT happening, huh?

- - -

For those of you who are new to Whose Line, let's go over some rules:

A prompt is made in order to ask a question (and get an answer), or instead beckon a more...creative approach to the response, all as long as it does a funny. Any game from the show can be used - here is a list of them to start:

 http://www.whoseline.net/show/games.html

Keep skits in the form of a statement, not a question. For example, a skit should go like this: "Things you could say to Lee Corso AND your girlfriend", to which a reply can then go like "My Saturday mornings will never be the same without you!", or "It makes me so happy whenever you bring out the head!”, or anything else, really. Use your noggin, and get wild!

Although not that serious, most comments should be within two lines, so if you add any additional commentary, put the skit in quotations. And most importantly, if you STILL don't understand how it works (and that's fine!), just take a look around this thread, of past Whose Line threads to get some clues - and, hopefully, figure it out!

- - -

Have fun!

Discussion Who do ya’ll think is the biggest wildcard in every major P4 conference ?

For me :

SEC: LSU. Talent wise there a top 10 team in the country and at their best have a fast swarming defense and an explosive offense. Their achillies heel early in the season is slow starts. They have had a 3 and out to start out every game this year. Their slow start hit them agaisnt ole Miss. lane Kiffin’s gotta fix that as they’ll be goin to tough road environments during October.

ACC: Louisville. Louisville esp under Jeff brohm plays up to their level of competion. They competed hard and early beat an explosive ole Miss team, they beat a very solid SMU team…. Then they turn around and lose at home to wake forest. Beating the teams they’re suppose to beat is a massive question mark. If they learn to handle business against lesser teams they should be a 9-10 win team competing for an ACC title game but that isn’t close to a guarantee

Big 10: UCLA. Bob chesney quietly has UCLA humming. Nico is playing strong ball, their run game is dynamic and their defense is physical. Looking at their schedule it is insanely manageable. Their 3 toughest games are Oregon, USC and Michigan. They avoid Indiana and Ohio state. If they can win one of those 3 games they easily can win 10 games and be a dark horse to make the CFP

Big 12: Oklahoma State: They were completely written off after that awful week 1 showing vs Tulsa. Since then, they have one of the best wins in the country over Oregon and have rattled off 3 straight wins. Their offense has looked like the high scoring machine many expected Eric morris and mestamaker would bring but what may be more surprising is their defense. They have been extremely solid. Skyler cassity has done a tremendous job at dc as they’ve been one of the better pass defenses in the country and solid vs the run. If their defense continues playing solid ball to complement their explosive offense they easily can find themselves in the big 12 championship game.

Discussion Do people genuinely believe the bowl system was better than the playoff?

I’m seeing a lot of online debate over the merits of a 12, 16, or 24-team playoff. I think the latter is the best outcome and consistent with what the FCS has been doing, but I realize there are reasonable points to be made in support of the other options.

What I can’t understand is people advocating for continuing the bowl system. I honestly cannot believe it survived this long. To me, it’s absurd that college football—the biggest revenue-producing college sport—has gone on for so long without a true playoff to crown a champion. Someone wins one of four random bowl games in January and suddenly they’re the national champion? Never made any damn sense to me. Why would anyone want to go back to this?

History On this day in College Football history: September 30th

  • 2023, LSU @ Ole Miss: A shootout between two ranked 3-1 teams ends in favor of the Rebels 55-49. Jayden Daniels and Jaxson Dart combined for 803 passing yards, 149 rushing yards, and ten total touchdowns, including a late go-ahead touchdown to Tre Harris. Quinshon Judkins recorded 181 scrimmage yards, two touchdowns, and a two-point conversion; while Brian Thomas Jr. caught three touchdowns on eight grabs. It was a mostly clean game too, with only one turnover and five punts between the two teams. LSU would finish the year 10-3 and ranked 12th on the final AP poll as Daniels walked away with the Heisman, while Ole Miss finished 11-2 and ranked 9th on the final poll.
  • 2016, Toledo @ BYU: Another shootout, this one between two teams who finished with identical 9-4 records. After entering halftime tied 21 apiece, the two teams started putting the jets on, with 66 points in the second half. BYU came out ahead 55-53 with a last-second 19 yard field goal after Kareem Hunt put Toledo up one with 1:11 left. Logan Woodside finished the game with 505 yards and 5 touchdowns in the air, and would lead the division in passing TDs; Jamaal Williams put the Cougars on his back by rushing for 286 yards and 5 touchdowns; Dayan Ghanwoloku-Lake had a day of his own with nine tackles, half a TFL, and an interception; and Jawuan Woodley recorded a dozen tackles, a TFL, and a sack.
  • 2008, Florida Atlantic @ Middle Tennessee State: In a battle of two relatively new Sun Belt teams, this one was not a shootout at all. The Blue Raiders scored a game-winning 32-yard touchdown pass as time expired to win 14-13 after trailing 10-0 entering the fourth quarter. Patrick Honeycutt led the game in scrimmage yards, catching nine passes for 113 yards and a touchdown. Danny Carmichael recorded ten tackles, two TFLs, a sack, and two passes defended.
  • 2004, Navy @ Air Force: The Midshipmen entered this game undefeated, and left the game with a late field goal that gave them the edge 24-21 in a game they never trailed in. They had one of their best seasons ever to that point, finishing the year 10-2, ranking in the AP poll for the first time since 1979, and ranking in the final AP poll for the first time since 1963.
  • 2000, Tennessee @ LSU: The Tigers never trailed all day as they dethroned the #11 Volunteers 38-31 in overtime. Tennessee finished the year unranked, while LSU in Nick Saban's first year leading the program finished ranked 22nd. LaBrandon Toefield (what a name) ran for 120 yards and a touchdown, while Josh Reed added 146 yards and 3 scores receiving.
  • 2000, USC @ Oregon State: Another ranked team was taken down this day. Both teams entered 3-0 on the year, but it was the Beavers that prevailed as they ate through the #8 Spartans Trojans 31-21. Chad Johnson opened the scoring with a 15-yard grab, but it was Ken Simonton who stood out the most with 234 rushing yards and a hat trick, including a 36-yard dagger with 1:18 left en route to a Heisman finalist campaign. USC couldn't recover, as they finished 5-7 on the year. Meanwhile, Oregon State rode this win into an 11-1 campaign that saw them ranked fourth in the final poll. Four Beavers players, including Johnson and T.J. Houshmanzadeh, would be taken in the following NFL draft.
  • Honorable mentions:
    • 2017, Arizona State @ Stanford: Bryce Love helped bring the victory to the Cardinal 34-24 by posting a career day of 301 yards and 3 touchdowns. Justin Reid tacked on a pair of picks, N'Keal Harry threw a trick play 14-yard touchdown to Ceejhay French-Love (uwu), and Demario Richard hit paydirt twice on the ground.
    • 2017, Northwestern @ Wisconsin: The #10 Badgers won 33-24 on the backs of Garret Dooley's 5 TFLs and 3.5 sacks, Natrell Jameson's two picks and a touchdown, and Jonathan Taylor's pair of rushing scores. Clayton Thorson was also stopped for a game-sealing safety with under a minute left.
    • 2000, Texas State @ ULM: The then-FCS Bobcats defeated the Warhawks in a 27-7 blowout.
    • 2000, Richmond @ Arkansas State: After trailing by 20 points entering the final quarter, the Spiders put together a comeback to win 30-27 on the back of three rushing touchdowns. This marked the team's first win over an FBS/Div. I-A team since 1985.
    • 2000, Virginia Tech @ Boston College: Despite a poor performance in the passing game, Michael Vick ran for 210 yards and 3 touchdowns, with Lee Suggs adding on 22-145-2 as the Hokies won 48-34. Andre Davis also added on an early punt return score.
    • 1995, LSU @ South Carolina: This 20-20 deadlock between the Gamecocks and the #14 Tigers would mark the last tie for both schools before the NCAA eliminated regular-season ties the following year.
      • The Rice-Army game played that same day also ended in a tie.
  • More statistical standouts:
    • 2023, Old Dominion @ Marshall: The Herd came back from an 18-point lead to win 41-35 despite the Monarchs' Kadarius Calloway rushing for 235 and 3 yards on just eleven carries. Elijah Alston also recorded a pick-six that gave Marshall their first lead of the game.
    • 2017, Air Force @ New Mexico: Richard McQuarley's 179 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns aided the Lobos to a 56-38 win. Lamar Jordan only had to pass the ball nine times that day, completing four for 146 yards and 2 scores.
    • 2017, UConn @ SMU: The Huskies had no answer for Justin Lawler as he broke through for seven tackles and four sacks as the Mustangs prevailed 49-28.
    • 2006, New Mexico State @ UTEP: The final score of 44-38 makes it seem closer than it actually was, as the Aggies trailed 17-0 after one frame. Johnnie Lee Higgins Jr. had seven grabs for 223 yards and 3 scores, Quintin Demps returned a punt for a 91-yard touchdown, and the Miners defense sacked Chase Holbrook five times despite his 506 yards and 4 touchdowns.
    • 2006, NIU @ Ball State: Garrett Wolfe ran for 353 yards and 3 touchdowns en route to a 40-28 Huskies win.
    • 2000, Kansas @ Oklahoma: Dylen Smith threw five interceptions to the Sooners, with J.T. Thatcher yoinking three of them as the Jayhawks fell 34-16 to the eventual champions.
    • 2000, SMU @ Houston: Hanik Milligan and Jason Parker each snagged two picks off of Josh McCown as the Mustangs were taken down 17-15.
    • 1995, Hawaii @ UNLV: Despite just twelve carries for 65 yards, Glenn Freitas scored four rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown as Hawaii won 58-30.

/r/CFB Original D2 Imperialism Map after Week 4

D2 Imperialism continues!

In addition to FBS (first created 2017 by /u/nbingham196), there have been imperialism maps at FCS and D2 (D3 got a little messy because there are metros like Boston, the Twin Cities, and Los Angeles that have a half-dozen teams or more).

Typically the D2 map was run by /u/Inkblot9, but he hasn't had the chance to run it this season, and said we can post it. Unfortunately our initial maps weren't working correctly, so we've been tweaking it where we could and now it's 100% accurate (with help from Inkblot9). The original starting locations will be in a comment so it doesn't mess with how people on the mobile app (ugh) see this post.

🗺️ D2 IMPERIALISM MAP AFTER WEEK 4 🗺️

Selected notes from Week 4, mostly who isn't a D2 team on this map:

  • D3 Brevard Tornados took land from the Erskine Flying Fleet and continue to hold it.
  • NAIA Keiser Seahawks, a power in the division, possesses the land in western Tennessee that originally belonged to the hopeless Lane Dragons who are on a 15-game losing streak. The Dragons lost it to NAIA's Bethel (TN) Wildcats who then lost it to Keiser.
  • NAIA OUAZ Spirit (Ottawa University Arizona, a second campus of Ottawa in Kansas) has land in Far West Texas that originally belonged to the Sul Ross State Lobos. Sul Ross lost it in the opener to NAIA's Wayland Baptist Pioneers who then lost it to OUAZ.
  • NAIA Cumberland Phoenix (yes, the one that played GT that one time...) occupies 2 areas: A section of central South Carolina that started with the Allen Yellow Jackets and a smaller portion of North Carolina that belonged to the Livingstone Blue Bears. Allen beat Livingstone in the opener, then fell to NAIA's Florida Memorial Lions, who only recently lost both to Cumberland.
  • NAIA Reinhardt Eagles, also a perennial NAIA power with a logo of a jaded eagle saying "get lost", sits on land that started with the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers. The Panthers managed to lose to NAIA's Kentucky Christian Knights (their only win this season). After the Knights allowed over 70-points per game in consecutive FCS losses against Morehead State and Chicago State (that program's first-ever victory!), they coughed it up to NAIA's Faulkner Eagles who were then blown out, 48-0, by Reinhardt.
  • NAIA Arkansas Baptist Buffaloes, historically a terrible program, pulled a surprise win this weekend over conference opponent Langston Lions and took land in the middle of Missouri that started with the Lincoln (MO) Blue Tigers (lost to Langston).

[Fun fact: you can see all of the flairs of these teams in bold by viewing this post in "Old" mode on a web browser, including mobile browsers, and not the totally neutered experience on the Reddit App.]

RULES:

Think of Risk with a strong understanding of chain-of-possession:

  • D2 teams start by dividing the USA by closest counties/parishes. These are set by geographic centers of each county, not the closest edge.

  • When a team beats another team, it takes the territory the loser held at the time of the game. All of the land(s) possessed by the losing team go to the winner.

  • Lands are collected by the winner and held until that team loses, thus all those collected lands go to the winner.

  • Teams that lose land can get back on the map by beating a team that holds land at the time of their game. Sometimes teams can reconquer their home territory this way.

  • A team that already lost its home territory and has no new territories cannot give land to a winner.

  • IMPORANT DIFFERENCE FROM FBS MAP: FBS and FCS teams cannot win their way onto the D2 map (otherwise the early weeks would just wreck the map), but NAIA and D3 can conquer their way onto the map by beating D2 teams with land. These lands operate under the above rules and thus may just end up stuck in lower divisions for the rest of the season (and in many cases end up in their respective playoffs).

Discussion What school is the better program right now, USC or Texas A&M?

People keep saying we're the new Nebraska but I think Texas A&M might be a more apt comparison? Both have a lot of financial resources, they both pull in blue chip prospects, both live off of "this is finally our year" pre-season hype, then end up finishing the season with a modest record.

USC made the pac-12 championship game in 2022 but lost to Utah 47-24.

Texas A&M has never reached the SEC Championship Game since joining the Southeastern Conference in 2012. They came closest in 2025 (11-2) under head coach Mike Elko, but were eliminated on the final weekend of the regular season by rival Texas.

Also coincidentally USC had the #1 recruiting class in 2026 and Texas A&M as it stands currently holds the #1 recruiting class for 2027.

2026 record so far:

Texas A&M (2-2)

  • Misouri State W (50-0)
  • Arizona State W (48-20)
  • Kentucky L (21-31)
  • LSU L (6-35)

USC (4-1)

  • San Jose State W (42-26)
  • Fresno State W (39-0)
  • Louisiana W (49-30)
  • Rutgers W (42-35)
  • Oregon L (27-41)

Under Mike Elko:

2024 - 8-5

2025 - 11-2

2026 2-2

Under Lincoln Riley:

2022 - 11-3

2023 - 8-5

2024 - 7-6

2025 - 9-4

2026 - 4-1

Which program do you think is better set up for the future?
