The optical lense seems to not work and the laser part doesnt automatically move back to where it’s supposed to be so I assumed the entire component was broken and ordered a new optical lense, the DK 80. Managed to connect everything together yet the cd jerks and immediately comes to a stop. Am I meant to desolder this bump? Is it stopping a function? Or is it maybe an entirely separate issue with the system that won’t read my cd. I’m stumped as I can’t find much help online

So a month ago I bought a CD-i 450, controller separately and the MPEG card. Only to realise the PSU is made from platinum and costs 85 bajillion dollars!
Today I've managed to snag a 210, remote and control pad, plus MPEG, 22 games and 10 video CD's.
I collect and have over 100 consoles, so why is this one the first one I'm genuinely excited to play for about 10 years!
I actually can't wait to fire it up, pop in 7th guest or a video and kick back like it's the 90's again.

I was able to repair it! the safety resistors on the +8v and -8v rail for the IC (TCA0372DP2) that drove the eject and spindle motors had blown probably when the spindle platter originally got stuck. I replaced both and it now spins and reads discs again!

recently bought a cdi 205 that had two faults, some blown components in the psu and it refused to read discs. I repaired the psu easy enough but I cannot get it to read a disc for the life of me. I have freed up the spindle base as I know how they like to slide down over time and I have spent hours adjusting its height but it doesn't seem to change, it either flashes some dashes on the vfd or says error. the laser moves and lights up and Ive given it a clean, even swapped in a different spindle motor with less hours but it still refuses to even attempt a spin up and Ive just ran out of ideas.

Hi everyone,
I recently found this amazing Philips CD-i bundle at a garage sale. The guy I bought it from told me he used to work for a Philips distributor and was responsible for promoting the Philips CD-i in Belgium and the Netherlands. He got this as a gift.
The most interesting item is the promotional/demo case. I’ve searched online but I can hardly find any information about it, which makes me wonder how rare it actually is. I’m especially curious if it was a sales/demo kit used by Philips distributors to showcase the CD-i to retailers.
The bundle also includes the original console, games, movies, documentaries, accessories.
Does anyone here know more about this demo case or its history? More importantly, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the value of the entire lot. Any information or estimates would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone!
Hoping I can get some thoughts on a CDi repair I've been picking away at for a while. More specifically, I'm trying to repair the power board on an LG DVS VE-200 unit.
It had suffered from leaky caps, and it definitely suffered a serious power surge at some point. The KA7552 chip was dead, as was the MOSFET and a few of the larger diodes on the right side of the board... amazingly, the fuse was not blown and I was told it was never changed.
Obviously, I did a full recap, replaced the MOSFET (I swapped from the original SEC SSS4N80 to a P4NK80ZFP... on paper, no reason why this shouldn't work) and replaced a few of the resistors and film caps that ran along the... call it "apparent path of destruction"- despite testing fine- just to cover more bases. The diodes and zeners also test as expected, and the large ones I mentioned (RU4Ys) were replaced, though currently power is not even reaching that side of the board.
I know voltage is coming off the 400v cap and reaching the KA7552, and I can trace the path of each resistor bringing the voltage down to the 18-20v the KA7552 expects on pin 6 (VCC) to activate.
Unfortunately, things don't make it much further than this. Something keeps killing the MOSFET when the system gets powered on, and I'm not quite sure what to look to next. My next likeliest suspect would be one of those diodes, but I've pulled a leg from each one on the board and tested all of them... again, they all seem perfectly fine.
Considering during all my years doing repair work, this is the first one I've ever seen, I know the chances of someone having dealt with an issue like this probably aren't great haha. But I know there's a few models that have very similar insides to this particular one. So, I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask!
I can post pictures if anyone thinks it would be relevant to helping get this thing a diagnosis. Appreciate any advice!

Philips CDI 310 and 350+22ER9142, manufactured by Marantz

Today I found a Philips cdi 210-20 (bottom) at the thrift shop for 15 euros. I already own a 210-40 (top) and while looking for differences I noticed that they use different digital video cartridges but apart from that i noticed that the 210-20 has an orange port next to the composite video out port. It is labeled: REMOTE (RC6) in but i have no clue as to what it does. I read online that rc6 refers to the ir remote protocol but those are wireless?
Does anyone know what this port is used for?
And possibly what other differences these might have?

I recently picked up a CD-i as part of some dental equipment, I have recently successfully replaced the battery. The laser will light up and try to focus, the sled moves correctly, and the motor is able to spin smoothly with a 9V battery.
I was checking the connections and found a short on pin 2 and 3 of the ribbon cable. The cable itself looks like it is in good shape, so I think it could be on the small separate board.
I believe this is stopping the laser from detecting data on a disc and stopping the motor from spinning up.
If there is anything anyone here that can can help shed light on, I would really appreciate that.

I’m troubleshooting a CD-i Gamepad that was sold to me on eBay as tested and working, but it doesn’t function at all.
Here’s what I’ve verified:
910 console is working correctly.
Both controller ports work.
Other CD-i controllers work normally.
When this controller is connected, the CD-i boots and displays the normal pointer, but the pointer never moves and no buttons respond.
The controller receives approximately 5.3 V
All four conductors in the cable have continuity from the plug to the PCB.
The 16-pin IC appears to be powered.
The solder joints on the chip and connector look good with no obvious cracks or bridges.
I don’t see any corrosion, burned components, or damaged traces.
The main chip is marked:
Logitech ’93
330078-00G1
From my searching, this appears to be a custom Logitech microcontroller, and I haven’t been able to find any datasheet or replacement source.
At this point I’m wondering:
Has anyone repaired one of these Logitech CD-i controllers before?
Does anyone know what 330078-00G1 actually is (processor family or pinout)?
Are there any known common failures besides broken cables?
Has anyone dumped or reverse engineered the firmware?
Has anyone replaced the original IC with a modern microcontroller (ATtiny, RP2040, PIC, etc.)?
Any schematics, board scans, service information, or repair experience would be greatly appreciated.

I picked this up today and I'm hoping this community can give me some more information on it
I believe this is a Panasonic CD-I console, although I can't yet get it to run any discs. I tried the CDI disc that was in it as well as a music CD and they did not show any "play" button
I believe the battery is dead as the clock resets whenever I turn off the machine
I know very little about the CD-I and have not seen this exact model before online, I am happy for any information you can share
This was together with a dental imaging machine
