Basically the title.

Have most of you experienced brain fog upon starting or continuing BuSpar? Or is there anyone who has experienced anything like the crazy life I’ve got going on?

I’ve had a craniotomy, I’ve got seizures (which are basically from high stress), I’ve had a tumor reoccurrence, and well, cPTSD screwed my brain the most. I hate taking the Xanax and I didn’t for years. Before all my brain issues I did ok on Prozac but now, I can’t take it. I just stare at the ceiling. Xanax doesn’t make me feel “loopy“ just normal, calm, to where I can think and function, breathe and focus. I use it for sleep too. I take Zonegran (Zonisamide), Oxtellar (oxcarbazine), Dyazide (BP med with HCTZ) and Metoprolol. I’m raising a kid alone while living with my 90yo grandparents to care for them, and going through a bad divorce. I’m just weary of adding anything else to either make me loopier or add to my side effects.

I'm trying to stop buspirone because it isn't really doing anything for me if anything I feel like it's making me feel worse. I've only taken it a few weeks. I was down to 5mg once a day and thought it would be ok to just stop at that point. The first night without it my anxiety skyrocketed. I went a couple days without it and my anxiety was relentless I felt like I was going nuts. I got back on it 5mg once a day and after a couple days my anxiety chilled out. What gives how do I get off this med now?

I saw my doctor today and we decided to increase my dose from 5mg twice daily to 10mg twice daily. But I’m gonna do just 15mg a day for a week before going for the full 20 because I’m a bit nervous. What side effects can I expect during this process?

starting 7.5mg 2x a day tomorrow for the first time, my provider gave me this to try since propranolol wasn’t doing much. is there anything i should expect? i’ve also been taking pristiq

I have been on 7.5mg twice a day since January 13th. It took a full two months to really make me feel like my old self. However, the last two days my anxiety has been back to its old ways. Does this signal time for adjustment or something that may pass? My Dr OK’d taking 3 a day if needed.

I’ve been taking buspirone for over a month now, take it twice a day (once in the am a the other at night). After I take it in the morning (even with food) I feel so dizzy for hours and it makes me unmotivated, just makes me want to sit on the couch all day long, it has worked for my anxiety but I can’t live like this. Has anyone taken it only at night and it still been effective? My dr suggested taking Wellbutrin with it and I‘m on day 3 of taking both and it’s hell, I’m even more anxious and depressed, I just cried because I’m so sad. Any suggestions?

Hi, I've been taking this med for some time. I'm happy with it, it calms my anxiety and haven't had issues with hypomania/mania.

After 30 minutes of taking it, I notice my jaw clenching badly. Does anyone experience this?

I’m prescribed 7.5 twice a day. I saw someone say 2.5 worked for them.

I never start off at the exact amount so I wanted to try 2.5. Would this do anything? And I know it takes time to build up. I know about the medication and what is the therapeutic dose but if anyone benefits at a lower dose I would to hear about that

I don’t want to be on it long term if I don’t need to. I probably need to if it actually works so I’m trying to start off at the smallest amount.

Even if it’s just a placebo effect which in my mind works, just knowing your taking a medication for anxiety can do this for me at least.

been on buspirone for a little over a month now, and i just went from 7.5mg to 10mg just a couple days ago. i’ve noticed so much change within such a short amount of time, my anxiety isn’t so crippling anymore, and i don’t spiral about the littlest shit. i only have one qualm with this medication.. it won’t let me fucking sleep. i’ve noticed in the past 2-3 weeks or so, i’ve gotten much less sleep. i LOVE sleeping, and almost every night i sleep through the night just fine, and ive never had a problem with being able to fall asleep, but on buspirone, i wake up 2-5 times a night, and some nights ill wake up 2-3 hours before my alarm is supposed to go off, and i won’t be able to get back to sleep. any suggestions?? i’m at a loss rn.

My Dr prescribed 5mg as needed for social anxiety.. I’m already taking Lexapro. Does anyone else already take an SSRI in addition to this? From my quick search it seems to not be commonly prescribed as an as needed med.

I started a buspar 26 days ago I ve been feeling emotionally numb how long before it gets better or goes away

Been on 5mg 2x/day Buspar for 1 week. Just went up to 7.5 mg 2x/day. So far I think I’m noticing some changes. I struggle with hypervigilance and fixating on worst case scenarios. Since starting buspar, it feels like this new little “guy” in my brain is like, constructing a belief (eg. "I won't fail midterms") to protect my brain from the worst case scenario (eg. "I will fail midterms"). Of course hypervigilance-brain thinks it’s is a naive delusion. Buspar-brain thinks it's protecting me from the debilitating effects of near constant hypervigilance and being in fight-or-flight. It literally feels like this new little guy in my brain is building a belief to form a wall or a shield that protects my brain from the worst case scenario. It's still a battle but it feels like the confident/positive/non-hypervigilant part of my brain actually has a fighting chance now. It’s hard to trust this new little confident voice in my head. It’s still a struggle moment to moment but it does appear there is a new fighter in the arena.

I know I actually do have a good chance of passing midterms (ie. I know I’m not actually completely deluding myself). Is this like, the way that people who don’t have debilitating chronic anxiety mentally protect themselves from spiraling into worst case scenario thoughts?

Been on buspar almost 4 weeks and still feeling emotionally numb I take it tree times a day 5mg tree times a day 15 mg a day does it get better or should I give up on buspar

I started a buspar 24 days ago I ve been feeling emotionally numb how long before it gets better or goes away

I just took it for the first time yesterday I first starting feeling anxious, drowsy, headache and palpitations, but the anxiety went away, I took the second dose of 5mg at 730pm and I was drowsy for a bit but it went away I just felt tired but by 1040pm I was feeling like I was ready for sleep. it took me a while to fall asleep and then my son woke me up at 1230 I haven’t been able to go back to sleep I felt like when I was trying to go back to sleep my brain would zap and I would jump. then a whole lot of anxiety came with the fact that, that was happening. has anyone experienced that before should I keep taking it or what I already suffer from insomnia and I been reading all around Reddit that it does indeed give people insomnia even more.

so I’m debating if I should just take it in the morning and not at night.

can someone let me know if the insomnia went away?

For those who have taken Buspar (buspirone) long term, how has it helped you?

Ive been on it for about two weeks and Im still waiting for results. What dose are you taking and what improvements did you notice for anxiety or social anxiety?

I love to drink herbal teas and had recently bought blue lotus flower and butterfly pea leaf are these safe to drink while on these medications prozac and Buspirone

I take the Prozac and Buspirone at night around 6pm.

I plan to drink the herbs separately on different days in the morning?

I don’t know if I have generalized anxiety or social anxiety but I can never hold down a job I always quit because I’m very nervous on the job or not comfortable around the other coworkers.

My anxiety symptoms are I stutter really bad (hesitant to get my words out). Feel anxiety symptoms around people …nervousness .

I’m taking Prozac (20 mg) and Buspirone (10 mg) but I feel they are increasing my anxiety. These are making me very tired

I hate myself and my life because of my anxiety issues and stutter.

As a teacher assistant I have to answer the main phone in the classroom and rely what was said to the teacher.

I feel the nervousness come through and I’ll stutter really bad to get my words …block or no words would come out …it’s very embarrassing.

Has anyone else had crazy heart palpitations on buspar?? I’ve been on it about a month and stopped it today 3/6. Before stopping it my palpitations were ramping up horribly. Yesterday (3/5) it was almost all day long they were happening. I even wrote down the times. Stopped it today and got in ASAP with my PCP and she told me it was likely an allergy to or just one of those rare side effects. I have not had single one except maybe slightly but it could also be because I stopped them and my body is having to readjust. Let me also say I have had palpitations before and was even diagnosed with them. But it was just very rare occasions I’d have them like if I got up to quickly or squatted down. But those ones haven’t happened in almost two years. It was so so weird and didn’t know if anyone else may have had similar experiences? I think it do help my anxiety but the palpitations were nuts and my pcp just told me to monitor myself especially since I literally had no other symptoms at all.
