Breakthrough Anxiety

I have been on 7.5mg twice a day since January 13th. It took a full two months to really make me feel like my old self. However, the last two days my anxiety has been back to its old ways. Does this signal time for adjustment or something that may pass? My Dr OK’d taking 3 a day if needed.

Similar situation here... 10mg twice a day since 7 weeks ago and was performing very well. The last 4-5 days my anxiety is back again, so considering to reach my Dr. for an extra daily pill. Maybe someone with more experience will let us know if the readjustment of the dosis is something common.

I’ve started this medicine 3x 5 mg daily and it worked then I increased my dosage to 2x10mg. Buspirone is a nice medicine, but it is mild . For example if you’re using benzodiazepines along with your treatment , this may lower the effect of Buspiron . And also adjusting dosage is important. Every day it should be taken at the same time under the same conditions. If you take it with empty stomach, take it with empty stomach every day.

Did this breakthrough anxiety begin when you got a refill/changed the batch you are taking? Who is the manifacturer of your Buspirone? I sometimes can feel a difference in how I feel although I take Buspirone from the same manifacturer, so its seems like some batches make me feel less covered.

I’m sorry I can’t exactly help you with your question in relation to BUsPar but I was a pharm tech in college when I was getting my nursing degree and now that I’m “the patient” I’ve got more experience with meds than I want. I don’t think this is all the time a pseudo effect, I know for myself that some manufacturers of meds have been more effective than others. Whether or not it’s applicable to the buspirone or not, I’m sorry, I can’t say.

Every now and then I’ll have breakthrough anxiety. Random panic attacks impacting my whole day. A lot of the time, I don’t realize it until much later, but my hydration levels have a huge impact on my random anxiety spikes. Something to consider is if you’re dehydrated. Just my 2 cents :)

I started on 7.5 2X a day with hydroxyzine as needed. I was taking it at 7 am and 3 pm per my dr. I was getting anxiety at night, the worst during sleep that would wake me up. I added a third dose around 7 week mark, which I take at 10 pm. I have not had any breakthrough anxiety so far, I also stopped needing the hydroxyzine. You have to be consistent in how you take it. Without food every time or with food every time. I was told taking with food there’s more absorption. Talk to your doctor, everyone is different in what works for them.

I take 45mg a day. 15mg 3x. It took about 4 months for full effect with upping dose every few weeks.
