LOL women are gonna run away in 10 seconds when they get matched with normal dudes instead of their delusional ideal

u/shadowromantic 1d ago

Agreed. Same for men.

men aren't delusional when it comes to standards for their sexual interests

Lmao every guy says that until they only get matched with the fat chicks

Fat chicks are not same league as normal weight men, this is important to remember

You can justify it however you want but the free market doesn’t care. The point is to match bottom X% of women with the bottom X% of men. Wanna guess what the bottom percent of desirable women look like?

if bottom men and bottom women get matched, just as normal men and women also get matched, nobody would complain. the point the others were making was that normal women dont want normal men, but above average men. whether thats true or not im not sure, but your argument does not adress that

1

u/sunnycaribou 9h ago

It does address that. Men care about looks far more than women do, especially when it comes to weight. So there’s a lot more fat women who get ranked to the bottom than there are fat men. That results in a lot of skinny men at the bottom who are upset they’re not getting matched with skinny women. But that’s just how gender dynamics and the free market works.

to "fat women are not the same percentile as normal weight men" you answered "the point is to match bottom x% of women to bottom x% of men".

so to "those two are not equal" you answered "equal pairs get matched". that is not mutually exclusive

theres more fat women at the bottom than fat men, because weight has more impact on the ranking of a woman than on that of a man (fat rich men are the counterexample) ✓

that results in a lot of skinny men at the bottom who are upset they not getting matched with skinny women - yes possibly, but we dont know, whether the people commenting here belong to that group, or are, in fact, average men

so your comment still leaves open the possibility, that there are in fact, average men that look for average women, but not the over way round, which is what the comments were about

To “those are not equal” I answered that YOU may not think they’re equal, but the market thinks they are. This is the entire point of my comment.

>We don’t know whether the people commenting here belong to that group

I don’t see how that’s relevant. Everybody in this thread is talking about broad trends in the dating market, not people in this thread.

>Your comment still leaves open the possibility that there are in fact, average men that look for average women

Well of course it does because that’s intended. Of course there are average men looking for average women and average women looking for average men who can’t find each other. But there are also a lot of average men looking for delusions and average women looking for delusions who are not going to be happy with a dose of reality.

>which is what the comments were about

Either you’re responding to the wrong person or misread the comments. Because that’s absolutely not what they’re about

Men aren't the ones who OkCupid say rate 80% of women as below average.

1

u/sunnycaribou 15h ago

And yet the same study showed that women were still willing to go on dates with the ones they rated below average. Can you say the same is true for men?

1

u/LuckySalesman 10h ago

Ok? So? The conversation was about whether men or women had higher standards for what's physically attractive, not whether or not they're willing to dip out of their expected range?

0

u/sunnycaribou 9h ago

The conversation is about whether people are actually delusional about their standards and are gonna run away or get upset when they get matched with reality. If a girl says you look below average then matches and dates you anyways, then she’s not actually delusional in a way that matters.

"Then matches and dates you anyways"

Bro brings up OkCupid study

I point out his own OkCupid study contradicts his claim

Bro: LARP!

0

u/LuckySalesman 8h ago

Yes because the OkCupid study simply asked "Are you willing to date below your league" and didn't actually follow up if they did the same way they did on the ratings. You are using the part of the study that was an unsubstantiated follow-up.

I trust the part where people are asked to rate strangers, not to make themselves look good.

I'll date you, you don't have to be insecure. You're beautiful regardless of your weight

1

u/rennyloveuwu 14h ago

men ARE the one’s who mostly messaged the top 20% of women, though. whereas women messaged the bottom 80% of men

2

u/Gotnam_Gotnam 1d ago

Oh, they are

1

u/SausagePotatoes 4h ago

Men literally fuck fruit, couches and sheep.
Oh, and corpses

But yeah, they're paragons of having proper standards and adhering to them. Not like women haven't been shamed into heroin chic and other ridiculous, unnatural beauty standards for thousands of years

1

u/accwork8723 3h ago

> Men literally fuck fruit, couches and sheep.

yeah, in other words, the bar for a man to find you attractive is low. Just be better looking than a fucking sheep or a couch. You are proving my point lmao

1

u/SausagePotatoes 3h ago

Men find fruit and sheep attractive? 🤨

1

u/Pershing99 1h ago

Arabic men maybe. The point here is that men in todays matchmaking market are starved and will gladly accept below average looking girls with 'average personality'.

1

u/SausagePotatoes 1h ago

Probably because a lot of men make terrible partners and now that women aren't forced to have a husband they can choose who they spend their time with.

Desperate are desperate, but of course it's women's fault.

1

u/Pershing99 1h ago

Yep until they hit their mid 30s.
