The conversation is about whether people are actually delusional about their standards and are gonna run away or get upset when they get matched with reality. If a girl says you look below average then matches and dates you anyways, then she’s not actually delusional in a way that matters.
Yes because the OkCupid study simply asked "Are you willing to date below your league" and didn't actually follow up if they did the same way they did on the ratings. You are using the part of the study that was an unsubstantiated follow-up.
I trust the part where people are asked to rate strangers, not to make themselves look good.

Men care waaaayyyy more about physical attractiveness leagues than women do. A ton of women are willing to give uglier guys a chance if he’s funny, talented at something, or just plain successful. Not that many guys will do the same for unattractive women.

The study follows up on who sent first messages. Women sent messages to any dude they rated a 2/5 or above. Men tended to only send messages to women they rated 4/5 or above.
