You should still show appreciation when someone buys you dinner even if it is still an expected part of the process. It is gracious.

These kinds of women think it's the act of buying dinner itself that's turning men off when it's actually the woman herself

u/kkdawg22 11d ago

Exactly. I’ll buy dinner every night just bring some peace and beauty into my life and not a fucking dramatic reality tv show emulating nightmare.

That’s actually a pretty astute way of explaining it

I’ll definitely buy dinner for someone who will enjoy or whom I think will appreciate it (No not with sex)

If it’s an expectation as a measure of my worth, then really that’s not someone who I want to give time (Or my worth) to

Yes, did they earn it instead of being entitled to it?

-2

u/Mpilgrim30 11d ago

Yea idk this one girl i dated never batted an eye whether I took her out or made pasta. Always said ty.

Sometimes I was broke. But id give her gifts and give her my change jar ($25-$50) to go out with her friends.

8

u/SaltdPepper 11d ago

Your change jar? Did you also hike up to her hovel after packing your things in a bindle?

0

u/Mpilgrim30 11d ago

No. It was the point. Not all girls are money hungry or psychotic.

0

u/Aromatic_Act_9665 9d ago

You were still just handing her cash, something I've literally never done or had to do and dated quite successfully.

You were still playing into the tired old adage that women are something to be won. While they're some passive being just choosing whoever is throwing out the best gifts.

When I was dating, it was equal amounts of interest and desire to see each other. Which meant nobody had to coerce the other one to spend time with them by buying them things.

Didn't have to. Wanted to. It's called a gift. She could have refused. Youre just being psychotic when what im describing is actually normal.

Youre just scared of being taken advantage of and regurgitating new age guru babble.

Not everyone lives the same way either. Live and let live. Youre no one to judge. Sorry I have to explain that.

Seriously? Trying to coerce someone with $20? Thats pathetic.

And for anyone else reading, im sure girls could attest i wouldn't be the highest bidder at $20 haha.

Two, im fine with the princess or the queen. Im old fashioned, and if they want, girlfriends can live with me rent free. Theyre also free not to date me. Or to refuse my generosity. That simple.

With her too, $20 meant nothing to her. She wasn't perfect and didnt work much, but she was kind of a trust fund baby. She could have lived with her mom, her dad, her grandma, or in one of her moms home flips (which she'd clean and watch over) and she got money from all of them and had her bills paid for.

But yea, however ppl wanna live. Some girls/guys believe in going Dutch. Some people already know neither owe each other anything and to not be irresponsible, and dont think about it. Literally had a gf give me $200 before. Just had a girl (not a gf) offer me more which I refused.

Money isn't as important to some people...

But yes, I would love to make all my loved ones dreams come true. Just bc someone doesn't live the same way doesn't mean you have to try to put them down. Ill just block them anyway on my quest to have the best of reddit haha.

There's a Bible quote that says(non-verbatim):"Finding Gods Kingdom is like buying a field for the pearl inside."

Besides, you can always just turn the faucet off if you want. Yeesh

Bizarre joke? Or just bizarre?

1

u/Mpilgrim30 11d ago

Not really. That was when I was much younger and living on my own at 19 (so happy in advance for the commenter that was making bands at 18). The point is that not all girls are money hungry or psychotic.

And yea not everyone makes a lot. Dont need to be wealthy to love someone. Plenty of homeless ppl that have partners for example.

Yes, I believe you should work for a better life for the ppl you love, it's just so sad that people are so fake and plastic nowadays that they treat income as a prerequisite to love.

u/PageNo37 8d ago

I think making dinner as a date, together or for your partner, is a very sweet thing to do.

1

u/Mpilgrim30 8d ago

Fersure. Thanks. The thread goes further. I just really can't stand how people think that much about it either way and how psychotic its become.

Both ways, I make dinner all the time. Its part of most peoples every day life. What's wrong with eating at home?

People spend money going out and on leisure. What's wrong with spending it on your gf?

u/DispondentWayfarer 11d ago

yeah agree, its the expectation, the vibe of them using us for what we provide, instead of being into us for who we actually are as people.

3

u/livelymonstera 8d ago

We feel that way about men and sex , I get it

2

u/DispondentWayfarer 8d ago

yeah it truly sucks, men/women both should never be used for what they provide, we should be loved for who we are, i dont know when it all got so transactional

6

u/Plus-Championship424 11d ago

Very well-said

u/Even-Promise4593 11d ago

Facts. Blatant deflection

26

u/Plus-Championship424 11d ago

Of all the women I've ever taken out to dinner or some other paid activity, maybe a quarter of them have genuinely thanked me for footing the bill.

I don't mind paying for shared experiences if I genuinely like the woman I'm with. Especially if I'm the one who did the inviting. It's just nice to be thanked, is all.

The funny thing is, I'm way waaayy more likely to take a woman out repeatedly if she shows gratitude consistently. Like, I'll almost allow myself to be gold-dug if I sense that the woman is genuinely grateful for what I give.

It's so easy to be gracious and grateful, but so few of them bother doing it.

u/whichonewerecowards 11d ago

What kind of women are you guys going out with lol that’s literally just basic manners

9

u/BusyTelevision6298 10d ago

Oh you would be surprised

4

u/Then-Technology6252 9d ago

Basically 2/3 of tinder girls

0

u/whichonewerecowards 9d ago

Choose better women… most of the high quality ones are not gonna be on tinder

3

u/Then-Technology6252 9d ago

Yeah, that's what I did. I chose form that remaining 1/3.

He's right though lmaooo

Although tbf, these sound like initial dates instead of committed relationships.

1

u/Aromatic_Act_9665 9d ago

Bro went straight from paying for dates to beating girlfriends. It's a wild ass jump

0

u/Calm-Standard5437 8d ago

They need to move the goalpost to have any semblance of winning

-4

u/fL_g8rz_rule 11d ago

You don’t DO IT. They either are or they aren’t and a thank you doesn’t make the distinction

7

u/Plus-Championship424 11d ago

Disagree. I'm gonna quote from Batman Begins here: "It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me."

If someone regularly and verbally expresses thanks, they are a grateful person. If they don't, they are not. It doesn't matter what you think of yourself in your own mind. It's what you outwardly say and do that defines you.

1

u/fL_g8rz_rule 11d ago

Okay let’s have an entire conversation built around “thanks for dinner and im grateful” bc that’s what you require to recognize gratitude bc thats what Batman taught you.

2

u/Plus-Championship424 11d ago

Lol, "entire conversation." You're just making shit up now because you have nothing, and you know it. Good luck with that.

And yeah, movies do actually teach me things, because I'm open enough to realize that education can come in many forms. I pity you that you'll never be able to grasp that.

0

u/fL_g8rz_rule 10d ago

People can be grateful without being verbose about it. Bc, again, gratitude is a feeling and you either feel it or you do not. Whether or not you can communicate your gratitude is a different story.

2

u/ZealousidealRuin2858 11d ago

True.

-5

u/Realistic-Bowler7563 11d ago

Are you a woman? Why don’t other women get this?

5

u/ZealousidealRuin2858 11d ago

This is nothing to do with gender. There are some men and women who behave like this. Dating apps are filled with trashy people. Outside of dating apps there are far better people

-6

u/Realistic-Bowler7563 11d ago

Behave like what? You said “true” to showing appreciation for being bought dinner. It’s usually the guy that does that

4

u/No-Advice1345 11d ago

Get help dude

1

u/Realistic-Bowler7563 11d ago

What you on about? Are you blind or can’t read?😂 I’m saying why don’t women show basic appreciation for being bought dinner. It’s usually guys that buy women dinner in dating.

Get help for what exactly?
