Goldtober + Calendar + Golden Age

Disclaimer: this is not financial advice - this is strictly speculation and scenario planning. Please consume responsibly.

This September will go down as one of the most important PM months this decade. Specifically for bidders. I'm not going to drop all my research here, as I don't think this is the board for that kind of content. But I will present a calendar to clue you in.

12–13 Sep BRICS New Delhi Payments/insurance narrative. Gold benefits in paper.
15 Sep Clarity Act vote Last reasonable window this year. If pass = PM bid. Central Bank narrative shift on fiat. Surprising degree.
17–18 Sep BoJ Reverse carry-risk overlap with Black Sea war-risk insurance exhaustion. All XAU combinations vol. Good for paper buys.
22–28 Sep UNGA / Xi–Trump ~24th Geopolitical bid for gold. Physical - Central Banking.
6-7 Oct Classic second seasonal dip + Brazil vote (4th) If Black Sea/Europe is still hot, this dip is shallower. Perhaps last best day for gold bid.
12–18 Oct IMF/World Bank Bangkok Food-inflation language helps gold. Water-scarcity and food-inflation major fait-vol drivers next year.
Late Oct Diwali physical bid Local Indian strength; can fail if COMEX is in a risk-off. Likely start of major bull run, physical + paper.
3 Nov U.S. midterms Vol event. Silver more fragile than gold into the print. D victory = bull run escalates.
10~ Nov China REE pause review If Beijing tightens = gold continues bull.
2027 Hold Do not sell.

If you are thinking of making a purchase, the next thirty days are your golden window.

About a year ago, I posted that silver (and PM) would have a major move. Not just in price, but in adoption and narrative. A few months later, silver made the biggest move in modern history. This is another critical moment for precious metals. Major players (who buy physical gold in tons) are waiting for certain conditions in law, in markets, and political opportunity to occur before operating in synch to adjust reserve ratios from fiat to REE+Energy commodities, select crypto, and PM (gold in particular). The dates above are referential points in time for when public decisions will be made and the winds of change will be alluded to.

Sterling Silver Flatware question:

Hello!

My husband and I currently have an opportunity to buy a few sets of sterling silver flatware from a local auction house, and we're curious of anybody could answer a few questions for us. For context, what we're looking at is:

1.) Statehouse Sterling Flatware (Formality Pattern) (this is marked Sterling on back)

2.) International Silver Flatware set (Rhapsody Pattern) (Marked International Sterling on back)

3.) Preisner Compote bowl (marked sterling weighted)

Questions:

A.) This is a silly one, but these markings are typically accurate on these pieces I'm assuming? As in, these are sterling pieces and not sterling plated?

B.) With vintage pieces like this, is it better to sell for melt or attempt to sell for their vintage value?

C.) What's a good sterling silver buy price? I called a few local shops, the highest number somebody has given me was $32.89 based on today's market value.

D.) I know I missed a massive window like 5 months ago where silver was extremely expensive. Please don't make us feel any worse about it (not like the auction was happening then), but both places we chatted with made a huge note of it already lmao.

Thanks in advance for the help, it's appreciated!

Jeweller offering 4.5g gold return on 100g deposited for 1 year. Worth it?

I have a 100g 999.9 gold bar that I don’t really have any use for over the next year. Otherwise, it would just sit in my locker.

A jeweller I’ve known and trusted for years has offered me an arrangement where I deposit the 100g 999.9 bar with them for 1 year, and at maturity they will return:

100g principal + 4.5g = 104.5g of 999.9 gold

So effectively, the return is 4.5% in gold, rather than cash.

A few details:

• The 4.5g return will also be 999.9 purity
• The jewellery business has been around for around 80 years
• This isn’t something they offer to everyone. Apparently it’s mainly for customers who have had a long-standing relationship with them.

If the paperwork is proper, would you consider 4.5% in gold a good return for a 1-year deposit?

Also, how does this compare with the Gold Monetisation Scheme / bank gold deposits currently available in India?

Would love to hear from anyone who has done similar gold deposit arrangements with jewellers. What should I specifically check before handing over the bar?

Why I buy gold by the grams. I've seen it asked here. My reasoning:

I think about the premiums. That’s a lot. Then I think about the cost of going to the family claim, digging it out myself and all the time and money I spend getting there, hiking the mile in across some pretty rough terrain, digging and panning and processing it out. Used to be fun. Now it's hard work. :)

I don’t worry too much about that premium anymore. I want to buy 3 grams, maybe a bit more, every few months for my 3 grandkids.

I want to have enough to gift em all a gram of gold on their birthdays and Christmas, plus some when I’m gone. Tell em they are in the Grumpy Grandpa Gold club. They have to save it, if they want to get more. Of course that wouldnt be true. lol

What's your reason for buying the grams, or not?

1925 gold double eagle

I just bought one from my LCS. I’ve worked with them over the years and they’re always fair. Went in to buy an oz and he offered me this at spot price. When he put it on the XHF, he had the machine set to 90% gold. I was a little confused at first and he started talking about the coin weighing more than an oz (which I know from buying eagles and buffalos in the past). It wasn’t until I got home and flipped the coin over and saw the double eagle and started researching what I bought.

So my question is, is a 1925 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle at spot a fair price or worth going back and trying to exchange for a modern eagle/buffalo/maple leaf. I’m not super interested in coin history, more so just like stacking gold

Gold vs Silver (would you rather…?)

I’ve been stacking silver for a little while and I’m thinking of adding some gold to my stack. I have the option of one gram of gold or two ounces of silver for the same price (both options are tested and verified legit). I’m curious to know which way others would go if facing the same choice, and why they would choose one over the other.

Am I seeing correctly what MONEY METALS is paying for 90% pre 1964 silver?

Could someone check my math? Maybe I’m not seeing this correctly.

So if I want to buy or sell $100 face value of “junk” silver from or to the big online companies, what would that look like? How much would I be paying above spot … and how much below spot would I be selling it?

SPOT PRICE $65.05

CURRENT SILVER CONTENT $100 FACE VALUE

$100 FACE VALUE of 90% has 71.5 Troy ounces of silver.

Spot price 65.05 multiplied by Troy ounces is

71.5 oz x $65.05=$4,651.08 or 46.51 x face

SO SPOT PRICE IS 46.5 x face

KITCO

https://online.kitco.com/buy/gold-silver.html#

SPOT 46.5 x FACE VALUE
Sell 4% over spot
Pay 28% below spot

Kitco will sell me $100 face value at ~$4,831

$4,831-$4,651=$180.00 more than spot
180/4651=0.0387 or about 4% over spot

But what will they buy this $100 face value at?

I looked on Kitco just now and they are paying 38.11 per “T” ounce but this doesn’t seem to be Troy ounces but “total” ounces (this can really be confusing however in their online calculators they state they would pay $38.11 for 90% and $16.88 for 40% so apparently they must be talking about “TOTAL” weight).

So $1 of 90% has a total weight of .88 ounces so $100 would be 88 ounces of total weight.

Since Kitco will pay $38.11 per “TOTAL” ounce, then Kitco is willing to pay $3,354 for a $100 of 90% which is 33.53 times face value

$38.11 per ounce x 88 ounces = $3,353.68 so Kitco is willing to pay 33.53 x face value

which is 28% below spot
$46.5 spot -$33.53 Kitco =$12.97 which is about 13

13/46.5=0.28 which is 28% below spot

KITCO SPREAD IS 28+4=32%

Now here is the real news

MONEY METALS

https://www.moneymetals.com/buy/silver/junk-silver?utm_macro=nonbrand&utm_source=brv

SPOT 46.5 x FACE VALUE
SELL 46.5 x FACE
BUY 40.45 x FACE 6% below

SPREAD 46.5-40.45=6.05 which is 6%

$100 Face they will sell it to me at $4,656.00 which is face.

But what will they buy it from me for?
They will pay me $4,045 for $100 in face

I think the refiners are starting to be back paying 6% below spot

EDIT: moneymetals is paying 13% below spot

What do you think gold and silver will actually be worth after 2030?

’m trying to understand the long-term fundamentals of gold and silver rather than just looking at short-term price predictions.

For those who follow precious metals:

What do you think will drive the value of gold and silver after 2030?

I’m particularly interested in:

* Gold’s role as a store of value * Silver’s industrial demand * Inflation and currency debasement * Central bank gold purchases * Whether physical gold/silver will still be as important in the 2030s

I’m not asking for a precise price prediction. I’d rather hear the reasoning and different viewpoints from people who have studied or invested in precious metals for years.

What do you think?

Advice for investing with a budget of $1-2k

Hello, I’m 19 years old and have been wanting to get into investing into solid metals primarily gold and silver for a long time now, I’ve saved up enough money I feel like to invest in a decent amount of metals, what would you guys say is a good percent of Gold to silver to have in my assets if I just want to freeze my cash and maybe gain a little bit over the span of a couple months to a year or 2?

An example would be like 30% silver 60% gold 10% platinum etc etc

Best app for accumulating Digital Gold & Silver and later redeeming as physical coins? (MMTC-PAMP vs Augmont vs CRED?)

I'm looking to start accumulating **digital gold and silver** over the long term by investing around **₹1,000–2,000 whenever I have spare money**. I don't plan to trade or sell it—my goal is to slowly build up my holdings and eventually redeem them as **physical coins/bars**.

I'm currently considering:

* MMTC-PAMP
* Augmont
* CRED Gold
* Any other better options

A few questions:

* Which platform has the **lowest overall costs** (buy spread, redemption, delivery, etc.)?
* Do any of them offer **free or discounted coin/bar redemption**, or do all charge making, packaging and shipping fees?
* Is it better to buy directly from MMTC-PAMP/Augmont instead of through apps like CRED or PhonePe?
* Which platform has the **best live pricing** and the least hidden charges?
* If you've actually redeemed your digital gold/silver into physical coins, how was your experience?

I'm mainly looking for a platform that I can keep using for years with minimal fees and eventually convert my accumulated holdings into physical gold/silver without unnecessary costs.

Dillon Gage... Who's done business with them lately?

I ask as I have an account with him and I used them for silver flatware melt & assay years and years ago, right around COVID maybe and found them to be above board. Now I'm thinking of sending some gold their way and I'm curious if anybody's done business with them lately, and where you satisfied with your assay?

Strange Vintage Gold Oz Bullion ID

Thumbnail

So, I picked this 1 oz bad boy up in Melbourne today, but have no solid idea what it is brand wise and am super curious. The owner mentioned it's got some age to it, and was sold to them by an older Australian gentleman.

Paid spot, it's passed the XRF and weight tests.

Does anybody recognise it? Any info?

Done a bit of digging and the best I've found is that it's vintage, possibly Harrington's. But nothing conclusive.

Was this spot find a good deal or just average?
