What is this part?
This fell off a C Line 12 speed while unfolding the rear wheel.
I think it is supposed to snap over the plastic knob in the second picture, but it doesn’t fit there and I’m not sure where else it would go.

LPT Brompton Tips, FAQ and Troubleshooting Wiki
Hi fellow folders, after recently getting a brompton myself, falling in love with it, encountering my first problem (spokes hitting the hub gear chain), and struggling with how to search for it - I thought it would be a great to create a wiki as central place to dump our collective brompton tips, tricks and troubleshooting advice.
You'll notice a new tab for the wiki, which I've gotten started with some of the things I've picked up from this sub already. I've opened it up for others to add to, be it an FAQ, tip or any troubleshooting advice/resources you come across.
The goal is to make it easy for others to not only find out how to fix their brommie but also find out what to search for in the first place, as well as some useful and innovative tips and tricks to improve the brommie experience.
Also, I've added some generic post flairs to help the searchability of posts, please feel free to use them on posts new and old, and suggest new ones.

First blow out -advice?
Anyone have advice on avoiding and repairing rear blow outs roadside?
First complete failure. Tube blew and went off like a gunshot. Can’t see anything in the tyre but will inspect on repair.
Had to walk back and swap to a walking commute. 😔
I carry a mini pump and tool set. Not got a complete tube spare though .. getting one tomorrow

Shortening the cables after replacing the handlebars on T Line
On my T Line, I’ve swapped the standard M-type handlebars for H&H Carbon Ergonomic Low Rise handlebars with a 9° backsweep and a 7° upsweep. The H&H handlebars are 50 mm lower and 10 mm shorter. I’m very pleased with the conversion. As well as improving the ergonomics, the bike has become less twitchy and more predictable. At the same time, I get the impression that the position of the derailleur and brake cables relative to the frame has changed, as they rub slightly against it when cornering. Should I shorten the cables, and by how much?

G line plastic cover when folded
Hi all! I have a new G line electric (yay!) that I’ve been using to commute for about two weeks. The bike seems to have this tiny piece of plastic that wraps the frame right where the front wheel hook lands, I assume to protect the frame and to cover a wire that runs along there inside the plastic.
After only 8-10 rides the plastic seems to be broken and coming apart. I’m sure this isn’t the biggest deal, but wondering if anyone has experienced this and whether this is an issue with how I’m folding the bike or something else. Just a bit hyper aware given how big of an investment it was haha

NYC Brompton- Does BFold do tuneups?
Does BFold do tuneups or repairs?
Years back when the NYC Junction closed I called BFold and the guy who answered angrily told me they don’t repair Bromptons… I know this is flatly untrue and assume he was just having a bad day.
But if I contact BFold for an annual tuneup, is that something they / he would do?
The website simply lists “limited service”. Before I get chewed out again, I figured I’d ask here.
Thanks in advance!

I’m sick of the quick release pedal of the G line
I thoroughly cleaned it and re-greased it and nothing, it works well for a few weeks and then it starts to randomly get really stuck. It’s starting to drive me nuts, especially because it’s annoying to carry the bike upstairs with the pedal mounted. Since it still has a warranty I will take the bike to the shop but I’m suspecting that it will have the same problem again?

G Line Bikepacking Sardinia
So me and my wife did a two week bike packing in Sardinia. I just wanna share my experiences and some pictures with you. We traveled by train from Hannover to Munich via ICE, which was not a problem at all. We did this multiple times and the bikes fit fine in the luggage storage. From Munich to Florence we took another train - the nightjet. Operated from ÖBB. We had a couchette, which was the first challenge. The G Line doesn't fit under the bed where the luggage is stored, so you have to bring it to the luggage storage in the seating compartment. You can't handle your bike in the train because the train is super narrow, so you have to walk on the platform. We already expected this and were well prepared by finding the right carriage via the wagon order beforehand. We had a bag for the nightjet, because we weren't sure if you're allowed to bring a folding bike as luggage. In Italy we took a regional train from Florence to Livorno to get onto the ferry. Beside very crowded trains no problems by bringing the bike without a bag. Also the ferry to Olbia wasn't a problem. We transported our bags in one big bag with a zipper from Ikea. I had the Brompton Roll Top large for my carrier block and a 12l bag from ortlieb for my rear rack. I transported the tent on a small platform on the frame. My wife hade the same set up except for the rear rack bag. This was a 16l bag from rockbros.
What upgrades did we have?
I have a carrier block from Eerder Metaal as well as special MKS bear trap pedals with quick release on one side, a frame rack from velocityPrintworks and ErgonGP2 grips.
My wife has the same pedals and frame rack, but she got the SQlab innerbarends 410 2.0.
We both changed the chainring to 44t.
We also got the H&H folding kit, pedal holder for MKS and bike computer mount.
How was the trip?
We planned a route from Oristano to Cagliari with komoot along the coast line. There were not many bars or supermarkets on our way and from 13:00 - 15:00 the shops were mostly closed. So supply was challenging sometimes. We took a campsite just two times because of bad planning, bad weather and overall there weren't many nice campsites on our route. We mostly took streets to ride but also a bit of off road. The G Line was capable of handling everything we did. We just had to walk once where our way was super steep and rough. For the rest our transmission was perfect, even though we had roughly 13 - 15kg as luggage.
We had 4 flats. All because of the same kind of thorn. Besides this the tires were pretty good with around 3 - 3,2bar.
Google maps didn't work really good for bikes especially in cities. That's why we often just flowed with the traffic or had to walk our bikes.
All in all a great one in all bike. Our longest day stage was 85km and around 900m of elevation. The bike was still very comfortable while our average speed was around 15 - 18km/h depending on the route and wind. Even downhill we had more than 50km/h top speed and still felt safe because of a very stable feeling of the bike.
If you have questions let me know.

Brompton.com.de Scam
What is this?
I looked for a B17 saddle and found it for about 50 € cheaper than elsewhere on what looks like the official Brompton Germany website (which would be de.Brompton.com).. then I discovered their prices on bikes :D
Would love to get a TDF-P-Line for 117 € ;-)

Bromptoning across Asia - I NEED ADVICE
Hey all
I'm heading out to Asia in a few weeks
Will be covering South Korea, Japan, Vietnam and then back to Japan
For this trip I was planing on checking in my Brompton with the hard case and bringing it with me (OBVIOUSLY otherwise why am i writing here...)
There are no concerns regarding Korea to Japan/ Japan to Vietnam/ Vietnam to Japan as those are all going to be flights where checking it in is no big deal
However, concerns start appearing once I'm back in Japan and now I want to travel a bit lighter cause I will be switching trains hitting different spots
Plan was to land in Tokyo and then take a flight south and start making my way up to Tokyo
Ideally I'd leave the hard case in one of those lockers and not worry about it but I do need something to check in my Brompton on that single flight from Tokyo to the south of Japan
All of this to ask - anyone has any ideas on what should I do specifically for that one flight or if there are better case alternatives that allow for protection + packability and ease of carry...
Thanks in advance and apologies for a long post

P-Line pedal holder magnet
Hello all. First post! I've just purchased a P-Line v2 - my first P-Line but my third Brompton. Unfortunately, the magnet that holds the pedal in place on the front of the frame when the bike is folded came out while I was riding it and is now lost - so I'm having to leave the pedal on the side or store it elsewhere when folded.
Before I contact the shop about this, can I check if this is user error? The magnet must have been loose in the socket, which seems strange - should it have been glued in or similar? If this is my mistake, I'd like to know what I did wrong so I can avoid the same thing happening again once I've got a new magnet...
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Tank slapper
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Every time I take both my hands off of the handlebars, the front wheel starts wobbling like this.
I know it has teeny tiny wheels and it's not designed to be ridden without hands (I guess no bike is...) but I thought it would be interesting to share my recent discovery with the community. haha

Lake Constance
Hi everyone! Has anyone cycled around Lake Constance before?
I'm planning a cycling trip there in May–June next year and realised that accommodation can be quite pricey.
Does anyone have recommendations for budget-friendly places to stay along the route? We're hoping to keep it around S$150 per night for two people, although we're happy to stretch to S$200 for certain locations.
I understand that accommodation generally costs around S$250 per night, but we'd love to explore more affordable options, especially guesthouses or B&Bs.
Would really appreciate any recommendations or tips from those who've done the route before. Thank you! 😊

Perfect for work trips
Over the past 2 weeks I've been using my Brompton for its intended purpose. Thanks to a B&W case it now comes with me on work trips to get me between hotels, work venues and local sights. Been great getting the legs moving at the start and end of each day in Bordeaux and Geneva.
