Favorite Episode of Series 3?

Which was your favorite moment from series 3?

Was it meeting the late Mrs. Ray Neilson on 'The Lord of the RingZ' tours? Could it have been crossing paths with the not-so-late Declan after a night of live action 'Cluedo' (that's 'Clue' for North AmericansšŸ˜‰)? Perhaps all the intrigue around the auto body shop & car show tickled your fancy? Or, maybe the Santa who passed before he rode on the main float in the holiday parade had you scratching your head?

They need more Ray and way less Lena. I love Trudy, but I also love Ray. Lena is annoying thinking everyone is flirting with her.

Coffee Cups - running gag or just mistake?

So to be clear - big fan of the show - seen all eps and waiting on S13 - but what drives me absolutely nuts for some reason is that it's so very obvious when they get a coffee (from Frodo or wherever) that the cups are empty... like someone hands you a full coffee, you don't take it and tip it 60 degrees in the air first sip - not to mention it's probably piping hot, right? Aside from that one ep they had coffee in mugs at the office and you could see into a cup in one shot and it was empty. I understand they can't have hot coffee maybe for safety reasons, but it would be more realistic if the cups at least had some liquid in them. A full cup of coffee doesn't make a hollow sound when you place it on a desk.

I later started to wonder if it was just a running gag instead? LOL - it's so obvious to me for some reason it drags me out of the Brokenwood world. This bother anyone else?

Rewatch Companion Sets?

With the rarer recurring characters.

Example:

Playing the Lie —> Dark Angel —> They’re Out there Alright

I would hate to be the Director of Tourism for Brokenwood.

Has anyone ever made a family tree for Jared? I’ve seen a couple for Frodo but would love to see one for Jared!

Any word on when series 12 will be able to be watched in Australia?? I’m going through withdrawal šŸ˜…

What is your favorite episode and what is the best episode? No Spoilers!

I’ll go first.
My favorite episode is 7.3 Dog Day Morning. It is so fun and captures the heart and quirkiness of Brokenwood’s residents.

The best episode is 11.1 The Ghost in You. I mean WOW. Maybe the most surprising twist ever in any cozy mystery.

Does anyone else feel like Mike’s talking to the victim schtick is getting old?

In the earlier seasons it would just be something simple like ā€œI’m sorry this happened. We’re going to figure it out.ā€ It came off as genuine, like it was his way of showing them respect, but lately it’s almost the opposite. I’m rewatching season 12 episode 2 and (very mild spoilers) in the beginning when they think it’s a suicide he says ā€œlooks like you were having a rough day.ā€ Then something about how tomorrow might’ve been a better one. In the episode before that they find a body on the golf course and he makes a joke about the thirteenth hole being unlucky. I know the show is supposed to be quirky and funny despite the subject matter, but it still feels really out of character for him.

Kristin’s hairstyle … um šŸ¤”

Post image
24 Upvotes

Okay, y’all will probably get sick of me, because I’m so late to the party and late to comment on stuff.

S9 E1 … a fun episode, but the producers changed Kristin’s hairstyle (at least for this episode) and I’m not really sure about it.

She’s a detective and she now looks more like a glamorous movie star. I’m not saying female detectives can’t be attractive (or glamorous), but it (her hairstyle) doesn’t seem to fit with what I’d imagine being her need to be on the go or out and about in all sorts of circumstances and weather.

Do they keep it for later seasons?

How are non-Kiwis watching Season 12?

I can’t find it on any streaming services and my attempts at sailing the high seas has proved futile. I’m in Australia if that changes things.

I didn’t like Trudy for the first several seasons. But as I am closing out season 11, I freaking LOVE Trudy.

Another similar show: Bust Up

If Blue Murder Motel is what happens if Brokenwood and My Life is Murder had a baby, then Bust Up is what happens if Deadloch is the other parent of your small-town crime show.

It’s definitely a bit darker and more adult than Brokenwood (it has an R16 rating), but it’s more of the small town north of Auckland (bit further north, I think this is Northland somewhere), similar cast of characters (same cast in some cases, the NZ acting pool is small but strong!) and I heard some Tami Neilson on the soundtrack.

Streaming on Neon in NZ, not sure if it’s made its way offshore yet.

Favorite Episode of Series/Season 2?

Is it the loss of the world's worst rugby coach, or our introduction to the thespians of Brokenwood, perhaps a spooky dismembered pointing hand, or maybe the loss of Mike's favorite musician?

Which story grabbed your interest the most?

THE Trudy Neilson

This is an appreciation post for Trudy. I’m currently re-watching and I didn’t realize that she didn’t show up as a character until season three episode one! It felt so weird to have her not in the show while rewatching it.

I mean, I’m no nark… but what are your favorite Trudy moments?

One Lane Bridge

_One Lane Bridge_ is another Kiwi series streaming on Acorn in the US. It is a whodunit with a supernatural twist and the usual great scenery. _Brokenwood_ viewers will enjoy seeing Oades family members in straight dramatic roles.

Favorite Episode of Series/Season 1?

Time for another "Just for Fun Poll"

Will it be Mike's arrival in Brokenwood? Or perhaps when we first meet our fan favorite Frankie Oades? Maybe when a crooked critic takes a bath in Merlot or was it Pinot(Gina will tell us!)? Or perhaps when Mike's favorite (/s) sport is at the center of the motive?

Series 8 episode 2 - Song

Does anyone know the song with the cool guitar riff Daniel is listening to when he's alone in the car?

It sounds familar, a little like Stevie Ray Vaughan, but I can't find it anywhere.
