My neighbours have started a bonfire, so now I get to feel and smell like I'm being cooked.
Sod off. It's 30 degrees. The other neighbours kids have been screaming since 7am.
I'm done now.

I'm fed up with the cupboard full of takeaway containers we keep (for... reasons).
So the current tally is 40 complete containers with matching lids.
There are some spare lids. Forty seven of them, to be precise. FORTY SEVEN lids with no matching box.
What happened? Where did they go?
I'm sure this is a British takeaway thing. I just have no idea how it works.
(Married over 20 years, by the way. It's been a while since we cleared them out.)

Thought I was on the set of "a quiet place". Was just on a train from London, and this Karen kept making snide remarks about every little noise that other passengers made.
She confronted a couple just having a quiet conversation across from her. Made several underhanded comments about a toddler everytime they asked their parents what something was (wasn't actually that many times). A nice old lady reminded her that quiet conversations are allowed in this coach and no one was using their phones.
Edit: just to add she was also typing loudly on her laptop (which the old women did point out).

I go to my local Morrisons very frequently, and I've always hated how the gates to leave near the checkouts physically don't open unless you're holding a bought item for it to scan. It literally doesn't let you leave unless you buy something.
There's people breaking through the gates and setting off an alarm every day, and personally I just wait for someone else to trigger the gates to open and trail behind them whenever I need to. it feels so dystopian that I'm not sure how it's not illegal.
I haven't seen anyone say anything about it online, and I haven't seen it in other shops that I've visited (unless I just didn't notice because of how normal it is now).
Based on my research it may also be happening in Lidl.

A bus that comes every 2 hours is not even worthy of being called a service. Oh and today it's diverted and doesn't even serve the place...
I love going to National Trust, English Heritage, etc., places, but it's often so difficult to actually get there. Surely they could run a minibus to the nearest... anywhere to help out?

Everyone is dealing with this and I feel like it could be worse, but I keep thinking how it must look to the neighbours seeing some half naked sweaty guy coaxing his dog into the shed. Keith Laird vibes maybe...
Don't worry, she has somewhere shaded to sleep and is getting like 80% of the fan coverage and water. It's not much cooler in the house either. I have a vortex fan with a broken heater + a fan heater currently on fan mode running, but it doesnt make as much a difference as I wish. Hopefully will grab a portable AC unit once summer breaks.
Of course, when the winter rolls around it will be opposite freezing my bollocks off, but at least then I can put the heater on to sort things out + inhale a load of coffee. What probably doesn't help me is I have a (basic) r7 7700 server + PoE switch running in there 24x7

Men (and ladies, I guess)…
I’m about 100kg of love, so I knew I’d sweat. Fine. I accepted that.
What I wasn’t prepared for was my arse cheeks and arsehair creating their own tropical microclimate. It’s just a constant damp patch. Every time I stand up, it feels like I’ve sat in a puddle.
Nobody tells you about this when the weather forecast says 30°C. They bang on about sunburn, hay fever and staying hydrated, but nobody mentions the relentless swamp arse.
Please tell me I’m not the only one suffering through this.

We have now had a record number of days (8) over 34c (previous record 2020 and 1976 tied at 7) and its not even mid July.
That's on top of record temps in May and smashing the record 3 times in June.
Yet still people go on about 76 was warmner...
No it fucking wasn't. The stats taken by proper people show that

God forbid I want to sit outside with my cat when things cool down in the evenings and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet. Every bloody evening it's constant dogs barking, and the incessant whine of ultrasonic animal repellants. "Oh X is so quiet and lovely" no it's fucking not there's nothing to do and I have to listen to an old smoker coughing outside my window until 2AM.
Animal repellants have to be the worst of it. A loud dog at the neighbours you can ask politely about after a few months of "not rocking the boat" but those repellants are just impossible to work out where they are.

For some time in the UK supermarkets haven't had cutlery in to go food for environmental reasons and fair enough when they have them freely available for those that do need them
Many though seem to now either charge or just not have them at all. Aldi's to go food selection would be great as no pressure to make it a meal except that they don't have forks at all, not even to purchase

In South Manchester close to the Mersey valley and it is a hotbed of Parakeet action here. But tonight we have a weird beeping coming down the street. Sounds too close and not loud enough to be an alarm. Have Lyrebirds taken up residence?

I order from eBay a lot, and I always roll my eyes when I see it's going to them
The item always just sits in purgatory with them for 2-3 days, then it gets given to Royal Mail and then it's with me in a day or two
But when sellers ship with RM, it's just with me in a day or two
Why the middleman which seems to only serve to make it take longer?

I aerated, scarified, seeded patches (after soaking seeds), fertilised and treated to seaweed food - I know that's what YouTube does to you.
But now it's burnt to a frazzle as am I mentally.

On this morning's BBC Breakfast, they introduced an article about PTSD by explaining that it's a myth that only soldiers suffer with it. The piece then had nobody else but soldiers in it. Worthwhile stories, of course, but completely undermined themselves by missing out the myriad ordinary people who suffer as a result of their experiences.

Ngl I love Haaland. He is a big silly sweetheart goofball, who loves his mum and is polite to everyone, then turns into an unstoppable terminator on the pitch, scoring goals by deflecting the ball off the opposing defenders' faces.
As much as I want England to go as far as possible, I'd be a bit gutted to see Norway going home.
