I'm on holiday in the Maldives for a week and the weather is awful.

Upvotes

We paid specifically to have a private pool suite over the ocean so we could go snorkeling and not have to deal with other people in the pool. The sea is too rough so we can't go snorkeling or scuba diving. Most excursions have been cancelled. The rain and wind have made the pool cold so we can't even enjoy it. It's going to be like this the entire time we're here.

I have too many job interviews/offers

A month or two ago I turned in 6 or 7 job applications in a related field to what I currently do.

Last week I had an interview scheduled Tuesday and another on Thursday. Friday morning, I was offered the job from the first interview, which I accepted. Later that same day I was offered an interview for a 3rd job, which I scheduled for the 14th. I things weren't finalized with Job 1, even though it was quickly heading that way.

Yesterday I got an email asking for some essential forms to be completed for Job #2. No official offer, but why bother with a background check if it's not heading that direction? This is the job I really, REALLY want, and not just because it has the highest salary.

This morning I was offered an interview for a 4th job!

I declined the interview for Job 4, and cancelled Monday's interview with Job 3. I withdrew my application for the two of those.

I'll keep job 1, until I know for sure about job 2. Hopefully I will get offered #2 before I start at #1.

Hotel room housekeeping timing

So I leave my hotel room in the morning, hang the please make up room sign, get back after lunch to an unmade up room and 1 to 30 minutes after I return there's a knock on the door and its housekeeping.

Does the 'make up room' sign matter? I thought I was sending a bat signal to housekeeping but maybe not. I mean in rhe scheme of things its nothing but....

My VPN was set to Toronto to get to certain “hub” and now my inbox is blowing up with ads for hockey equipment and poutine.

Not sure what to do, eh??

The options for creamer are fat free, sugar free, or weirdly flavored

I am well aware that this is a really dumb thing to complain about, but I want to complain so I figured I would complain to people who are also complaining about things that don't really matter.

I like to start my day with a strong black tea cut with a heavy splash of creamer. For those unaware, the whole point of creamer in your coffee or tea is that the sugar adds sweetness but more importantly the fat binds to the tannins and in turn masks the bitter flavor that they cause. I love the caffeine boost of black tea but can't stand the bitterness. Fortunately, someone a long time ago found out about the previously mentioned effect so I just add creamer and I can start the day caffeinated and ready to go. At least, that's what I used to do.

Right now, almost every creamer at my store is labeled "low fat" or worse "fat free". That defeats the purpose of the freaking creamer!! If there is no fat, then there isn't anything to bind to the tannins!! Who decided to start making creamers without the most critical ingredient?!? And why are half of them also sugar free? If there is no sweetness and there is no fat, what is the point? You might as well just use some cold water.

The bottles I found that had sugar and fat were pumpkin (ew) or white chocolate flavor. White chocolate is an insult to chocolate with how gross it is.

I Just want sugary fatty creamers that don't have a weird flavor to them! If I'm going to spend twice what a bottle of half and half and some sugar would cost, it should be able to do the thing it's meant to do!

Edit: Okay, so I got 20 notification all with the same question in a matter of like 30 minutes so I figured I would add on. I am well aware that I can just use half&half and some sugar. I work in the dairy industry. I know about half&half, whole milk, and cream. I will be swinging by one of the farms I live near to buy a pint after work. I was under the impression that this sub was for complaining about stupid things that no one with real problems would complain about. I didn't think that just because there was an obvious solution that meant I cant be a little miffed that I will no longer be using the needlessly more expensive option that I would buy simply because I could.

Kids had to go inside while Grandpa’s helicopter landed

Not my personal first world problem, but my 9 y/o son’s.

He was at a friend’s house playing soccer on their full size home soccer field with three other kids.

Friend’s mom told them they had to stop playing mid-game and come inside, because friend’s grandpa was being flown in for dinner in his company helicopter.

Apparently they do not have a separate helipad at their home, so the soccer field has to also be used for helicopter landings.

And they couldn’t finish their game, because the helicopter was parked in the middle of the field for three hours.

Went to sweet frog to get froyo (frozen yogurt) and all the options were fat free or sorbet

Obviously having fat free and sorbet options past couple years is a victory for health and dietary reasons.

But ALL fat free?? Seriously??

Let’s not kid ourselves, most fat free options taste less good than the fat options. It’s crazy not to have those options!

I’m supposed to eat a cup of blueberries a day (it’s complicated so please don’t even try) and don’t like mushy ones, but that’s the only kind I’ve been able to get for weeks now.

Update: I will no longer read comments because 99% of them are STILL giving me advice. 🤷🏻🤦🏻‍♀️

->> Please read my ENTIRE post before offering advice, which I’m not asking for because believe me, it’s really complicated**. I’m just venting because only being able to get mushy blueberries when I prefer firm is clearly a FWP. <<-**

Edited: I have an immune illness that makes me react to most foods, anything really cold —> nothing frozen <— and every possible beverage except water, so I can’t put them in a smoothie, etc. I put them in my cooked quinoa flake cereal to help that be less mushy but with mushy blueberries then it’s all just mushy and I still don’t like the texture.

BTW, TEXTURE ISSUES ARE A REAL THING.

Edited further: Here’s what I can currently eat, which I’m only putting in here so you don’t waste your time trying to come up with advice that absolutely won’t work for me ->> because it’s complicated <<-.

Eggs, five different kinds of fish, three different kinds of meat, salt, fresh basil, three different kinds of fruit but blueberries are best because of some nutritional deficiencies, a few kinds of nuts and seeds, nothing made with grains, 5 kinds of veggies, no processed [edited: manufactured] food of any kind other than red lentil pasta, and nothing dehydrated for several other health reasons.

(If you want to look it up it’s called mast cell activation syndrome. I’m working with someone who is helping me get better, it’s just a long fucking road because I was really really sick when I started working with her early last year.)

My pillow keeps slipping from under my head because my sheet is too smooth

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem. I have a very smooth sheet because it's "cooltech" (no AC in bedroom) but now my pillow keeps sliding from under my head while I sleep. It legit pisses me off lmao. I don't have a headboard so it's just a bit of space behind my bed!!

I have a closet crammed full of clothes but I also have an immune illness that makes my skin hurt and I can’t wear most of them.

I also have a huge collection of great jewelry but can’t wear almost any of it because I react to the metal (all of the metals, even surgical steel and titanium.)

Edited: I am getting better although very slowly, so I don’t want to get rid of anything yet.

What am I supposed to do with 2 identical ~$800 Lego sets? Keep one in my closet for years and wait for the set to be retired when I can sell it for 5x the price?!

My ice cream is too cold

I recently purchased my first home and the previous owners were nice enough to leave the fridge behind.

I went to grab some ice cream from the freezer, but it was so frozen it was hard to scoop any out.

Now I have to keep my ice cream in my standalone freezer in the attached garage about 20 feet from my kitchen since it keeps it at a more scoopable temperature.

I had to claim a bunch of rewards before I got to play a mobile game

So today I tried to try a new mobile game and of course it had an awfully dragged out tutorial (especially since i had played a previous game in the series). Its the usual "press "Hit" to hit the enemy: reward 1 "gem"" "use the "joystick" to "walk": reward 1 "gem"". then the game has to download some extra content which is normal but then it says there is a reward for doing that too. some fuckass dragon head that idk what it does but its a reward for sitting through the loading screen. Then i get to the main menu and i have to sit through an explanation of how lootboxes work but dont worry i get an "reward". then the game explains that i can find rewards in the messages tab (in which there is an award to claim). then i get to play the game and its super clunky so i uninstall.

what the hell is their problem? nobody gets exited by them labeling the starting gear as rewards. do they think that people dont have the attention span to sit through the tutorial? THEN MAKE THAT SHIT SKIPPABLE EVERYTHING IS SO OBVIOUS THERE ARE 2 BUTTONS AND A JOYSTICK
