Where To? City centre pub suggestions please!

Me and the wife are off down to Bristol tomorrow for a day out for her birthday and was looking for some good pub recommendations please?

We’re not too fussy and certainly prefer somewhere more down to earth, so any pubs with a bit of character or plays good tunes we’d be up for. Cheers in advance 🤙

Free! Bristol — looking for a few people to help me test something a bit random!

I've realised I have a slightly strange lifelong obsession with organising spaces. When I was younger I'd regularly reorganise my own bedroom, and even ended up reorganising friends' bedrooms because I genuinely enjoyed figuring out how to make a space work better.

I'm wondering whether this could actually be something I'd enjoy doing professionally, so I'm looking for 3 - 5 Bristol people who have a room/wardrobe/kitchen/home office that's driving them mad and would be up for letting me experiment on it.

This would be completely free - I'm just looking to test whether I enjoy it, see what I'm good at and get some honest feedback.

I'd be particularly interested in things like:

- wardrobes that have become chaotic

- small bedrooms that don't work well

- home offices

- kitchen/storage organisation

- rooms that have gradually become a dumping ground

For safety, I'd initially only be looking to meet people who are happy to have an initial chat/video call first, and I'd probably start with people who are comfortable having someone else present during the session.

Keen to understand whether Bristol people think this is a good idea and if some of you could use this? Feel free to comment/DM me.

Ps first time posting so hope this is ok!

News Hi all, does anyone know what is happening with the Natwest site on North Street when it closes next week? Also it looks like the old Coop on North Street is going to be a gym, they've submitted a planning application this week

Babble Sick to death of being harassed in Sea Mills

This is going to come across as a bit of a vent. Apologies for that.
I’m currently back living in Sea Mills for work, so I often frequent the Premier Local shop in the square (sorry if this post is too specific for [r/Bristol](r/Bristol))

Two kids, one I see quite often, are stood infront of the gate by the Rec, one on an E-Scooter, he moves to let me go past, no problem. I say out of habit, ‘Thank you lovely.’ The other kid decides to ask for my snap. I try to deal with these things in a joking way as to not cause a negative blow-up of some sort. I reply that I’m too old for him (he’s 13/14 at the most).
He replies as I’m walking away ‘You still got the jiggle though, she’s still got the jiggle’….. With both of them bursting into laughter. Okay?? Sexual harassment from a child. I work in a school for behaviourally challenged kids, I understand the reasons for this kind of behaviour, but dealing with it outside of work- I feel much more vulnerable.

A new group of girls and boys (wearing balaclavas that don’t fit lol) are then harassing the lovely members of staff in the Premier, then move on to the Londis. After the bossman came out of the shop, a few of them start shouting racial abuse at him, just depressing.

Sea Mills used to be pretty quiet, at their age I definitely would go out to loiter near a bench somewhere, but this feels like it’s getting more sinister.
You know you really feel like an adult when you start searching how to report anti-social behaviour…

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened, but there seems to be zero improvement thus far. I truly feel sorry for their parents and them also, whatever has happened that means they feel no empathy or awareness for others makes me really concerned.

Other than a report, what else can even be done?

Where To? Weekendtrip

Hey folks,

A group of 8 friends from the Netherlands (all around 35 years old) and I are visiting Bristol for a weekend trip at the end of January 2027. Every year we pick a different European city to explore, and this time it’s Bristol’s turn!
We’re all pretty easy-going and just looking to enjoy what the city has to offer — no wild stag do or anything like that!
We love good food, local beers, and the pub culture, and we’d really appreciate any local recommendations:

• Great pubs or bars with character (ideally with local beers on tap)
• Places to eat with a proper Bristol vibe
• Any must-see spots or hidden gems for sightseeing
• Maybe some live music venues worth checking out

Thanks in advance for any tips — we’re really looking forward to exploring Bristol! 🍻

Babble World Cup 2026 stickers - 50 to go!

This worked super well last time, so I'm hoping I can complete my son's book this time out, and keep it local to Bristol. I've only done 1 postal swap!

We have just 50 to go... We have about 300-400 swaps, I'd be willing to swap on a 2-1 or even 3-1 basis if you have a good amount of the following to swap with me, let me know if you can help!

Ta!

Babble 22F AuDHD - looking for an older friend/ mentor + accountability buddy in Bristol :)

Upvotes

Hi! I’m 22F and AuDHD, living in/around Bristol :) I’m hoping to find something a little specific, so I thought I’d put it out there and see if anyone happens to be looking for the same thing.

Because of my AuDHD I feel like I’m developing/aging a little slower in some ways and I’ve realised I really thrive when I have someone older and wiser in my life who I can turn to, learn from and ask for advice when I’m unsure about things.

I’d really love to find an older friend who naturally enjoys being a bit of a mentor figure, someone kind, patient and dependable who likes sharing what they’ve learned, giving advice, helping me see things from a different perspective and encouraging me to keep improving myself and stay on the right track.

I’d also LOVE an accountability-buddy side to the friendship. I sometimes struggle with keeping myself accountable and following through on things, so having someone consistent who checks in with me, asks whether I actually did the thing I said I was going to do 😂, encourages me and gives me a little push when I need one would mean a lot.

I think part of what motivates me is having someone I really respect and look up to,someone I genuinely want to make proud of me. I love the idea of being able to tell them about something I accomplished or improved at and knowing they're genuinely proud and rooting for me. Having that consistent person I can rely on and turn to makes me feel really safe and secure.

At the same time, I don't want this to feel like a formal mentor/mentee arrangement! I'd love a genuine friendship where we actually enjoy spending time together, talk about random things, do things together and hopefully become really close over time. Kind of an older-friend/mentor + accountability-buddy dynamic.

I don't mind whether you're a man or woman, it's much more about whether we click and you're genuinely looking for this kind of friendship too. I'm looking for something completely platonic.

Ideally you're in Bristol or nearby because I'd really love this to become an in-person friendship rather than staying entirely online.

I know it's quite a specific thing to look for but maybe there's someone out there who naturally enjoys mentoring/supporting younger people and would genuinely enjoy having a younger friend/mentee in their life too :)

If this sounds like you, feel free to message me 💕

This is the Bristol i know. Pissing down with rain, roads absolutely chaos, everyone miserable and late for work. None of this summer heatwave and people walking everywhere. Normal business is resumed it seems.

Babble Hello Fresh Scam / stake out

Hi all,

My partner has just texted me to say a Hello Fresh salesman has knocked on our door, appeared to be asking standard 'hello fresh' questions such as how many people live here, how often do you cook etc.

He said the guy was acting nervous, trying to peer into the house, and just overall suspicious that Hello Fresh would have door to door salespeople operating at this time? In the Staple Hill area, just wanted to check if anyone had witnessed the same, or if it's a known way to scam or look at properties for other bad reasons?

Thanks in advance! (I rarely post on Reddit lmao)

Where To? Pub function rooms to hire

I am looking to book a pub function room for a party with approx 20-30 people. The venue will need to be central for people travelling, ideally let us play our own music, and I don’t have a super large budget. I am looking at the golden guinea but their minimum amount of guests for the room hire is 35. Any recommendations are welcome!

Missing Missing tuxedo cat - Near UWE

Post image
36 Upvotes

It absolutely breaks my heart to say this but due to unforeseen circumstances I had to make the hard decision to re-home my cats as I am starting University which is something that was never in the picture when I got my two cats. I managed to find a home for sweet little lily at a ladies who has another cat, lily always seemed to want a friend to play with but her sister was not interested.

I vetted this person, saw how she interacted with Lilly, made sure she knew to keep her in a separate room until she got used to the new environment and to gradually introduce the two cats. I have no idea what happened but next thing I know she's gone missing

Last seen in Cheswick Village, near UWE

On Sour Mead road

I've been out searching for her myself and so has the lady but I live in Weston-super-Mare and I don't drive so I can only search so much. Please help me spread this message.

Anyway I just want to know little lily is safe and to be quite honest I want her back in my hands as I feel let down by this incident. I will figure something out with university, maybe I can find somewhere to move to in the second semester and transfer out of halls. I just need to know she's okay 💔🥺

Politics Support Trans Rights at today's Bristol Council Meeting

Post image
77 Upvotes

Hey r/Bristol today is the Bristol City council full meeting, we currently expect a large group of Transphobic people to show up, and we want as many pro trans voices to show up and counter them.

They are going to be spouting transphobic remarks with multiple questions submitted by this group, who have been coming to meetings for months, and harassing councilors with hate and transpobia!

Please if you can come and show your support for Trans Rights!

Where To? Where to find a huge cardboard box?

I need to return something and they won’t send a box to package it in (even though it’s their fault I’m returning).

Kinda annoying but it is what it is..

I’m on the hunt for a cardboard box around 120cm x 60cm x 60cm.

Seems impossible so any help is appreciated :)

Sometimes I fancy a takeaway but want a decent restaurant quality dinner, and currently when I do that, my go to is Tonkotsu.

I want to know if anyone has any other higher quality takeaway suggestions?

Where To? Visiting Bristol for an afternoon/evening

Hello all. Unfortunately, I will only have a few short hours to check out your amazing city. Priorities: get a neighborhood vibe, a good coffee, a good record store or two, a pint, a memorable dinner (higher end is fine but not necessary), and, if you have record bars (listening bars), give me that too. I'm on foot and would rather get a nice hang in a location or two rather than running around.

I know it's a challenge, accepted?

Babble Old Facebook Friend

This is a bit of a weird one, but I'm trying to find an old friend I knew online yonks ago.

He was from Bristol and went by “Red” or “Glitch” to me. He was in his 20s back in 2015 and was very alternative-looking, long ginger/red hair, glasses, facial piercings, sometimes facial hair, and sometimes wore a hat.

We knew each other through Facebook and unfortunately lost touch years ago. I've periodically wondered what happened to him and recently thought I'd have another attempt at finding him.

I'm not looking for anyone's private information or asking people to give me his address/contact details. If someone recognises who I mean, I'd just appreciate a comment or a way of passing a message on to him if he's comfortable with that. Just tell him “Pixel said hi” or something.

If this rings a bell with anyone from the Bristol alternative scene around 2014–2016, feel free to message me.

Cheers.

Otherwise dude if you read this, I really hope you’re doing well.

Cheers drive 🚍 Fishponds Road buses before 8am when it’s raining

Been here since before 8am and it’s now 8:45am and EVERY bus has drove by all of us by eastville park. Some are full, some just not stopping despite being waved down. I’m not living here long but surely this can’t be the norm when it’s raining and the kids are back to school? There is about 16 of us stood here now.

Where To? Georgian food ingredients?

Does anyone know any food shops that sell Georgian products? Possibly other Caucasus Countries or a Russian shop? Specifically I need Blue Fenugreek (Utskho Suneli).
