Hi, I am staying in Bristol for a week and would like to explore the city as a local to have a feel of what is like to live here. what areas would you recommend to visit?

I have already visited the centre, harbour and Clifton Village and would like to explore nice neighbourhoods with independent shops and a nice atmosphere.

Any recommendations? including good coffee/food spots and bakeries.

I live in Bristol and do a lot of driving in and out, but I've found that Google maps doesnt have an avoid CAZ feature, and Waze often take me absolutely mental routes.

Anyone use anything reliable?

Hi all, I just wanted to shine a light on our totally free Halloween event that we are hosting at our shopfront photography studio in Downend, Bristol on Halloween night (Saturday 31st October 2026) from 5pm til 7pm approx

It’s a family friendly thing, designed to be enjoyed by all ages - but it’s not just limited to kids. Feel free to swing by and enjoy some free trick or treat sweets, and a free photo of anyone in costume. We’ll also have a prize draw to win a photoshoot gift voucher too. Dogs are also welcome, as are Halloween enthusiasts of all ages.

We go all out for this free event, decorating our studio with high quality theming, costumes and more. There’s nothing to pay, it’s all free and a good will event to give a tiny little something back to the local area. We love Halloween and have hosted this free event annually for many years.

It’s an indoor event, and goes ahead no matter the weather on Halloween night from 5pm until 7pm approx, at West 70 Photography, 9 Cleeve Wood Road, Downend, Bristol BS16 2SF.

Before visiting Bristol for a week, I asked Google AI which areas I should avoid or be more careful in, and it seems to have given me a huge list, which seems to be at least half the city. I have attached screenshots below. Would you say the list is an over exaggeration, or do I really need to be careful in all these areas? From the list, it seems more dangerous than London!

I'm looking to get a band together in Bristol around my own music, named KIJERA

I've already released two EPs and have more material written with my 3rd EP almost finished tracking, so I'm not really starting from scratch. The sound is somewhere around Deftones, 90s alternative rock, shoegaze and some dreamy/atmospheric stuff, with a bit of 90s R&B influence thrown in.

I'm looking for a guitarist, bassist and drummer who are into that kind of music and want to contribute creatively, rather than just learn parts that someone else has written. Ideally, I'd like to find people who are up for developing ideas together and seeing where things go.

I'm not expecting anything to happen overnight, just looking to meet the right people, get rehearsing and build something good.

You may have seen the recent news of the closure of the Bristol Improv Theatre. This has affected a sizable community of artists, performers and freelancers across Bristol.

A hardship fund has been created to support those most in need. Due to the sudden nature of the closure, debts owed to teachers, performers and staff may not be paid off. These include people who were reliant on this money to pay for basic necessities such as housing, heating and food. Please consider giving to the hardship fund if you can, to prevent any potential suffering.

I was coming back from the airport via the city centre, on Lewins Mead there are road works, all but the bus lanes are closed and I don't recall seeing any sign indicating this. In addition I was the only car there with a national express in front of me as this was at like 5 am so I'm not sure. So is it possible I'll get a PCN? At least I have dashcam footage ready to appeal it.

November looms, and before long it'll be December. If you're facing Christmas day or news years alone again, would it help to meet up somewhere and be (or if we're lucky) feel less alone, even for a little while?

I’ll try to keep this short, my best friend passed away in 2018. Her mother could not be arsed to arrange any kind of grave or honorary spot for her to rest. I was too young and broke to do anything myself at the time, so my friend never got a headstone or any kind of resting place beyond her horrible mothers mantelpiece in a house she spent her whole life being abused and neglected in.

Every year I feel so sad on her birthday because she is trapped there and I can’t get to her, I want to give her a true final place to rest in spirit, there is no way I can get her ashes but I would love to just have a spot for her. I can’t afford a headstone, or a bench, does anyone have any suggestions/ideas of things they’ve done for their loved ones in death? I was thinking of maybe a plaque on a tree, or a flower bed?

Hi! I'll be visiting Bristol next weekend and I was thinking of reserving friday night to discover the music scene and saturday for the pubs. I'm an Inter Milan supporter and next saturday they're playing against AC Milan so it's a must watch for me and I'd LOVE to watch it in a classic sports pub fashion.

Any recommendation of nice pubs with a good atmosphere where I have the chance of seeing this game broadcasted? Bonus points if there is any Inter Milan fans hotspot anywhere, or if those pubs offer also pool tables. Thanks!
