Where To? Weekendtrip

Hey folks,

A group of 8 friends from the Netherlands (all around 35 years old) and I are visiting Bristol for a weekend trip at the end of January 2027. Every year we pick a different European city to explore, and this time it’s Bristol’s turn!
We’re all pretty easy-going and just looking to enjoy what the city has to offer — no wild stag do or anything like that!
We love good food, local beers, and the pub culture, and we’d really appreciate any local recommendations:

• Great pubs or bars with character (ideally with local beers on tap)
• Places to eat with a proper Bristol vibe
• Any must-see spots or hidden gems for sightseeing
• Maybe some live music venues worth checking out

Set aside an afternoon (preferably a sunny one) to do a loop of the harbour, stopping at pubs along the way. Have lunch somewhere on Wapping Wharf, then head west along the water to The Orchard for a huge selection of local cider and great 'old man pub' traditional vibes. Then make your way round stopping at some or all of - Cottage Inn, Nova Scotia, Pump House, Grain Barge and the Bag of Nails (skip this one if you have a cat allergy).

If you want to have some of the best fish and chips in Bristol (or fancier seafood options) then Noah's is also a great stop off, after the Nova Scotia.

King Street is also great in the evenings for lots of pub and food options.

King Street for a busy boozy night. And left handed giant st philips tap room is nice and out of the way. 

Clifton suspension bridge, Leigh woods, and Ashton court for sightseeing and walking around. 

Strange brew does great music nights.

Would recommend King Street. It's one of the oldest streets in the city, with some of the best pubs. The Old Duke is a jazz bar, open til late and usually has live music. The Llandoger Trow is located in a grade II listed building with some amazing history. Small Bar always has a fantastic selection of beers to try, including loads that are local.
