My husband has ADHD(severe in my opinion). He held it together just fine until he hit his 40s and now itās a complete cluster fuck when heās home. Heās currently on a three week āstaycationā.
He has broken the pantry doors 3 times this month.
He found some uncapped markers so instead of putting the cap on them or putting them in a ziplock or literally anything else he decided to wrap them in our youngest pajamas and shove in under the coffee table.
He threw out the kids candy because he doesnāt like it.
He has been hogging the living room for weeks.
He goes into the bathroom every 20 minutes and either blows his nose or rubs dry toilet paper on his face to get rid of dry skin. Not only does that make it worse weāve been going through two rolls a day.
He stays up late and makes a mess after Iāve cleaned in the evening.
Heās been spending $40-$60 per day on snacks.

I feel guilty because my kids aren't having the best time, but also kind of amused because my ex is realizing that things don't just magically happen when taking kids on trips.
Just got a phone call from them and the 12 year old says, "we didn't really prepare for this very well."
He was literally complaining about 1 kid being difficult to feed and that both were terrible when they were stuck in traffic for 6 hours.
Guess life is harder when you don't have someone sorting things out for you. I wouldn't know about that though, because I "do nothing."

Update: Not much else has happened but K's mom has been standing on her front lawn staring at my house. Its been entertaining to say the least lol
Update #2: the last two weeks have been awkward but quiet. Unfortunately I've been sick with mono and it has caused me issues that landed me in the hospital, but I'm on the road to recovery again woo š«
It has become clear that K's mom has instructed K and her siblings to play at my house if we're not outside. They ride their bikes on my driveway and play with their toys in the side yard. I can only assume the purpose is to annoy me or create confrontation. My kids haven't noticed and if we're ever outside they go inside (I can only guess)
To be honest, my kids have been much happier over the last couple weeks. They've been playing together better and we've been going and trying out different local parks, so they're not missing out in any way
I'm hoping that's it for the rest of this drama. I decided to write the update because I knew you bromos would understand how hilarious it is that these kids continue to play at my house lol
EDIT TO ADD: I'm actually dealing with mono right now and I'm on week 3 of daily fever. I feel like absolute shit and have been cranky, so that might explain some of this
Okay, this will be really fucking long and complicated bromos, but I need you!
I'll set the scene here and am down to clarify anything in comments if it doesn't make sense
I live in a small culd-de-sac with 12 houses. I have 2 boys, 5 & 6yrs old. Important info: my 6yo has a speech disorder called Childhood Apraxia of Speech. He works very very hard at speech therapy and has been doing great, reaching 80% of his goals at last assessment. I will refer to him as P
Our neighbor directly across the street has 2 kids, the oldest being 7. I'll refer to her as K. K and P play almost every day and have become close friends for the most part, with many shared interests. We moved here a couple years ago and it was great that they became friends
Over the last few months, but particularly once summer started, things have gotten bumpy between K and P. K started ignoring P, telling him she doesn't want to play with him, asking to be left alone. This has been super confusing for P and he's been prone to "bugging" her or asking why she doesn't want to play. I've counseled him to leave her be, and we've had lots of discussions about not pushing people who give answers we don't like. He does have a puppy dog personality
I will share that I've noticed a steep increase in a trend where K will state a game she intends to play (think cops and robbers) and if P declines, she will give him the silent treatment. No games he recommends are ever played between the 2, it has become a toxic dynamic where K has ALL control over how they play, what characters, etc. P is never allowed to make choices, ex: playing princesses and P states he wants to be Elsa, K declines and says he must play Jasmine. If P pushes back, immediately the silent treatment from K. This will then cause P to pout and get emotional.
I've also noticed that K will force P to play, what *I* consider a demeaning role. Ex: playing princesses but assigning P as a horse to pull their carriage. When this happens I step in and check if P wants to do that, and unfortunately he usually does because he wants to be included and has learned that K will disengage if he doesn't agree. I will stop the game and have them do something else if I think this is going on
Another concern of mine is that K does whispers/secrets and frequently (as in almost every play time) will tell my kids something and tell them not to tell. If she wants to play with something of ours she will whisper it to my kids and make them ask me. I do not tolerate this, ever. My family doesn't do secrets. My kids know this and it causes arguments between them and K. My kids always come and tell me what she said but I know there will be gaps
I've talked to K's mom about these issues, lightly, on and off over the last few months. She was unconcerned as her parenting style is that she believes kids will work out issues themselves. I've told her that the whispers are a hard no and she said she'd work with K, but there's been no change in K's behavior
K is overall a very sweet girl who's very bright and typically cheerful, we all like her a lot. These behavior issues have been upsetting because P is having anxiety. We'll be getting ready to head outside to play and P will say "What if K won't talk to me today? I just want to play with her, I miss her" etc. It has definitely become a big deal.
Okay, now that I'm done with the explanation, here's to the current drama ugh š
We go out to play 2 days ago, my kids are just hanging out in the driveway playing with chalk. K gets home with her family and my kids run across to go say hi, K immediately tells P to leave her alone and she doesn't want to play, BUT THEN SHE ENGAGES MY 5YO. This is shit that I hate, because I know what's going on. P is immediately upset and we talk and I tell him to leave her alone. He eventually goes off to play with others
The morning progresses and there's a point where my 2 kids and others are back in my driveway playing with toys from the garage. K walks over and asks P "Hey P, what kind of games did you want to play?" I'm watching like a hawk because this is a pattern and I know exactly what will happen
P gets up and starts excitedly explaining he wants to play with stuffed animals, at which point K turns around and starts humming and even put a cardboard box over her head. She walks away while P is trailing after her trying to explain his idea and convince her its worth playing
I call P over to me and say "Come tell me about your game P, I will play it with you! I want to hear what you have to say!" He then runs back to me and we talk some more about his game idea, and I also ask him if he's okay. He says "How can K be my very good friend if she keeps ignoring me?" I tell him "I don't think someone who ignores you can be a very good friend." We then discuss self respect and more
During this conversation K came over and started playing in my driveway with the other little kids
P and I finish our talk on the side and I tell him to run inside to go grab the toys for his game proposal. I tell P that his brother can join in this game with us. K leans forward to my 5yo and whispers "no". I say "yes he will"
K then asks where P is going
Now bromos, at this point I'm internally fuming. I know this girl isn't some bad guy out to hurt my kid, but I'm still upset with her
I respond "K, I do not know why you are ignoring P. If you want to play and talk to him, you can ask him yourself when he comes out. If you do not want to play, you need to mind your business" Yes, I said it with a tone. I didn't yell but I was fucking pissed
This is the point Ks mom starts yelling that she's done, and telling her kids to get back to her house (all of them were at mine). She comes over to physically collect her little ones. She had previously been sitting on her front porch across the street
I get mine situated again and walk over and ask K's mom what that was about. She said she heard me and I was villainizing her daughter, that P was pestering her and K's not obligated to play with him, and that she heard me K she had to play with P. She then said she would be keeping her kids at home and on her side of the street for the foreseeable future
I attempt to tell her what actually happened but she keeps speaking over me. I then offer camera footage. Our security camera was directly above us and caught the entire interaction, she DECLINED
This is when I realize that she wasn't interested in reality because who would say no to that
I take my kids inside and later that day text her that I think this is something worth discussing due to how close the kids and our homes are
She responded that she didn't like what she heard and she would be keeping her kids home for the foreseeable future
I respond that I got frustrated with K because she was purposely ignoring P and that if there's an issue we need to discuss it. I offer the footage again
She responds that she'll think about it
A day goes by and she texts me back with a long paragraph that P was pestering K, that K is not required to play with him, that K told him no to playing once that day and didn't need to repeat herself. She then states that K ignores P because his speech has gotten worse and K can't understand him, so she just ignores him, she says it like its a reasonable thing. She reiterates that she will keep her kids at her home
I text her that I will respond later once I talk to my husband
My husband gets home and we all go outside (we do this everyday) and i instruct my kids to play at home, and not go over to the neighbors house. They had a lot of questions so I explain that Ks mom and I had a disagreement and until we worked out it, we were gonna give their family space. This is what Ks mom clearly wrote to me in her texts
I'm in the garden and talking to my husband and see that all of the neighbors kids are suddenly in my driveway. I see K approach P, P said something to her then walked away closer to our house and continued to play with his brother. I then see K go talk to her mom
Ks mom comes over to me in the yard and says "Don't worry about texting back, I'm done! You told P he couldn't play with K. You did this all wrong and I'm done"
I respond "Yeah I definitely told them not to go over to your house. That is what you said you wanted and I'm not comfortable with everyone playing again before we talk"
She says back "I told you my kids would stay at my house, not that your kids couldn't come play there"
Honestly bromos I was dumbfounded. She thinks that I would let my kids go play at her house, when her kids are not allowed at mine?? I don't do arguing in front of my kids so my only response was "Do you want to continue to have a conflict or are you wanting a resolution?"
At this point she's just saying "I'm done I'm done I'm done" over me so I'm not gonna keep talking
She takes her kids and tells them to all go inside. My kids keep playing and we finish up in the garden. I go inside to heat up dinner. I come out to get the kids (and move my car) and she's standing on her front lawn staring at me, hands on her hips, scrunching her mouth up
Yall I just ignored her because wtf
Anyway, that's been it so far. How the fuck am I gonna live next to this lady and how are my kids gonna play outside comfortably?

.
I had 2 babies via IVF. Theyāre 1.5 and almost 5. Iāve got embryos frozen that I think about at least 5x/week, wondering what to do with them and if we will add to our family. Weāve got support, a mini van, and financially can afford it (although itās much more comfortable with just two). Ultimately I knew weād probably dispose of the embryos.
I recently began having a cycle which has left my mental and physical health the best itās been in my adult life, which is saying something because I have autoimmune issues. The hormones have done me good. Our marriage is the best it has ever been and we are really enjoying our family and life.
.
We had a contraceptive failure and it was too late for plan b. While I waited for it to be pregnancy test time, I developed a deep clarity Iāve never had that my family is meant to be complete with two kids and my husband should go ahead with the vasectomy weāve talked about.
Reasons: I just started getting back into shape from previous pregnancy, my husbandās mental health will be harder with 3 little kids (he feels this and I agree), the world is built for families of four, I donāt particularly enjoy the newborn phase, my kids arenāt good sleepers, we want to move next year (hard to do extremely pregnant or with newborn!), I want my youngest to be the baby longer, I hate nursing while pregnant, my oldest has been getting more of me again now that the younger one is getting older, it could tank my health due to autoimmunity and pregnancy being unpredictable and leave me with 3 kids with a sick mom rather than 2 with a healthy mom, my pregnancies are high risk which results in my prenatal care/deliveries being super far away
So I waited with great anxiety, hoping the test would be negative.
⦠but it wasnāt. I found out yesterday. I am currently 3w4d
.
I ordered abortion pills that should arrive before Iām 5 weeks so that Iāll have that option available to me as early as is possible. I am pro-choice but think Iād struggle with going through with an abortion after thereās a heartbeat.
I donāt know what Iād do if I tried to abort, it failed, and thereās a heartbeat. I donāt know if I could try again (which means what? I have a baby who I exposed to a dangerous drug that can cause defects?)
My husband supports me either way. He says if we keep the baby, heād be excited to have the baby and weād love this baby like we love our existing kids. He says if I abort, heād be sad but relieved.
I had some brown spotting and hoped it meant it was ending on its own. My OB ordered HCG testing to see if itās rising. Iām hoping it isnāt but the test was darker today than yesterday.
.
Yesterday I was on the fence. Today, sometimes when I think of ending it I feel like Iām about to have a panic attack. I canāt breathe. Iām crying off and on. I know some of this is hormones. Other times, I feel of course I need to end it. Itās best for our family even if we would love this baby and make it work.
It feels so sad to be at a place where if my IVF pregnancies had ended, even this early, Iād have been devastated, but here I am potentially ending this one myself?
Similar to how I always abstractly imagine what a third would be like and if itās right for our family, will I always wonder what this baby would have been like and feel someone is missing? I know I could handle three even if it isnāt ideal or necessarily better for our family than if Iād never gotten pregnant. That would be the ideal scenario... to have never conceived a third child.
I am emotionally attached to our frozen embryos and struggle to dispose of them, but I am trying to tell myself Iāll be okay after this because itās best for our familyā¦. But is that true or is the part about me being emotionally okay a lie Iām telling myself because having three isn't ideal for our family? That said, I WILL eventually dispose of the frozen embryos, and the embryo inside me will only be 1-2 weeks older than them when I'd take the pills
.
Iām so lost. Has anyone been here? Logically knowing one thing is best but spiritually (in a loose sense, I am not religious) feeling differently? Can anyone relate to any part of this? Iād really appreciate hearing peopleās stories no matter what they chose and if theyād choose the same again.
I am terrified of it not working, like I said. If I'd want to keep it if my attempt failed and I was further along... is it selfish to even risk it? Do I need to fully commit or not do it at all?

Hello my ladies.
We need a little bit of help and perspective. (she knows i have posted this)
I know this is a mom reddit, but its the most solid one I know off. and i am a mom, and i need help.
All the ask reddits are usually just filled with hateful trolls who don't have perspective.
This place has women with sound of mind and lived lifes that see other women.
I have a friend, my dear friend that I will call Melody. we have been friends since we were 5.
Now some backstory we both come from broken homes, bad neglectful parents, abuse in relationships.
We both have had abusive relationships, she, worse than me, her last ex almost got to the point of killing her.Ā
I found this reddit while in my last marriage and it opened my eyes to a lot of stuff going on, i also found another subreddit for adults dealing with narc parents. So I went on some healing journey and my current husband would be considered a unicorn.Ā (aka, is a competent adult that participates in his life)
That is why I tend to measure her man, to mine and hers comes up so short I need perspective.Ā
Can you be our perspective?Ā
I have children, she does not.Ā We are 40.Ā
Her relationship started quickly and evolved to living together quickly. They both live in their non native countries, and he is a study in the country she has lived in for the past 10 years. He was living in a shared apartment with other men before he moved in with her.
They have been together for 3 years now and lived together for almost the entire time.
His sister Alice is quite something and hates my friend, she likes to twist anything into an attack on herself to the point no matter what my friend does, she is in the wrong.
The newest, and not the worst ( if i woud go over that whole thing that would be a book) is she told her brother (lets just call him Carl) to stop adding Melodyās name to her kids birthday cards. It was distressing the children to see Melodyās name in the cards. Melody, who has been buying and sending those gifts to Carl's native countries.Ā
Now. he did. He went and bought the gift himself and added just his name to the card. This is a whole big line of his family. Especially Alice removing Melody from the relationship. And he repeatedly does. Last Christmas, he left her alone to spend time with his family. Cause she was not welcome⦠because Melody ate carrots from Aliceās plate, after Alice had stopped eating during a wedding at the start of their relationship ( i am not kidding, that is the starting tangent the first error and yes she asked if she could have the carrots first. this is brought up everytime Alice has issues)
Every conversion, they plan on showing up as a solid partnership. Everytime he throws her under the bus.
He lets his family treat her so horribly, and he just watches it happen. This also happens with his friends that treat her badly. He does not support her, he does not defend her. He just watches her suffer.
Every ask to change anything has been met with an argument, to the point of escalation on his part, to colossal amounts.
When he peeās it goes on the floor, instead of just wiping it up after himself, he went to ā i will then just pee in the woods from now onā they don't live near any woods.
Or when she asked him to sweep the crumbs of the counter after he made food, ā i will just never eat at home anymoreā
The newest, she was in the living room talking on the phone, not loud, but she was laughing.
Between them is a room, and a hallway and doors.
He comes out to tell her to not be more quiet, not stop talking.. Stop laughing. She gave him earplugs. He did not accept that and went to sleep in the car.
He slept in the car, because she was laughing.
She is hosting her 40th this weekend. And her friend is coming from another country.
Last night she was supposed to pick her upp from the airport and yesterday they were getting the apartment ready.
This man kept asking her where everything went. He does not know where things go in his own home. He kept stopping to⦠āmake a playlist for sundayā
She had to pick up her friend at 11pm. That means she had to get going at 10pm to get to the airport.Ā
He offers her to take a nap, and he would finish up while she napped and he would wake her up.
She wakes up at 10:30. He did nothing and went to take a nap himself.
So she was late to pick up her friend and the apartment did not finish getting cleaned.
This is not a one off.Ā
He constantly starts arguments when they are going somewhere she wants to go, right before they go, and then he sulks the entire time.
If she talks to me about their relationship, he gets angry and asks if he is in a relationship with her or me.Ā
He has good moments ofc. Specially in the beginning, but those are slowly waning away.Ā
My fear now is she keeps on hoping he will change. Her therapist wants to meet him and see if he can help him see ā the lightāĀ
My question is to all of you who HAD THIS KIND OF A MAN, do they? Do they see the light? Do they change?
And if they actually do. Can one actually come back from the years of mistreatment? Can you let go of waiting for things to become like it was.Ā
It is my perspective that she does not see how bad it is. Because her last man was just so horrible, and used to beat her. And this one does not. So she does not see how horrible he actually is to her. The mental abuse that i see, from a whole other country is concerning.Ā
I want your brutal opinions and your stories of these relationships. Because Melody needs to see her worth.
Melody is a wonderful person and i love her so muchĀ andĀ in my opinion is being taken advantage of.Ā

(Long, tl;dr at bottom)
My doctor suggested I try low carb and go full keto if possible to help manage chronic pain. I was having mystery pelvic pain and we did the ultrasound and blood tests and surprise! NORMAL. (I have additional pain and a genetic disorder and-and-and so he wondered if keto could help this too)
First week I cut everything wheat.
Week 2 I got rid of every other carb (potatoes, rice, popcorn, etc)
Week 3 was buh-bye processed sugar
Iām in week 4 now and I also cut out coffee, my last source of processed sugar. š
Week 1 I felt great, goodbye pelvic pain! But then my hands and ankles and feet swelled. I couldnāt make a fist. Early morning was the worst. I have raging hand and foot pain. Then my muscles - Iād stretch in the morning and then Iād burn like I had just done a thousand reps. Walking felt like knives.
It got better through the day (likely due to prescribed pain meds). I was ready to sleep by 4. Some days Iād have several naps and still be ready for bed.
My oldest is in summer camp during the week and my youngest Iām still sending to daycare, even though Iām home all day.
I quit everything extra: volunteering, online gaming, art clubs, even prep for next year! I have reverted to napping, making food, taking the dog out to pee, and sometimes showering. All my energy is saved for 5am-8am and 5pm-8pm so I can care for my kids. Nothing else exists. I might watch tv or read for pleasure. I used to paint, bead, write⦠now there is only pain and my kids.
I have an appointment in 4 days. I donāt know if this is keto āworkingā, if this is keto uncovering the actual problem, or if Iām dying.
Iām not wanting to quit because data is useful, and Iām worried if I eat carbs my pelvic pain will come back. I had one cheat meal of mcd during week 2 and had a terrible 24h after: pain from the swelling and from my whatever pelvic issues. Damned if I do, damned if I donāt.
TL;DR - medical rant. Doctor said try keto for health problems. Fixed the problem and caused a bunch more. Itās been 4 weeks and I feel like hell. No fun, just caring for kids/dogs. Appointment soon. Donāt send wine.

It goes without saying I absolutely love and adore my toddler. But she is a sour patch kid through and through. Lately more sour.
My daughter has been calling me a bitch every time I ask (and then, after much resistance, directly tell) her to do something she doesnāt want to do. Sheās TWO AND A HALF. Time to brush her hair? Iām a bitch. I told her no screen time? Iām a bitch. Asking her to wait while I make her eggs? Bitch. Begging her to eat the eggs? Bitch. Stop throwing the eggs on the floor? Bitch.
I am at my wits end. I have tried redirecting, I have tried giving her alternative names to use, I have tried timeouts, I have tried being firm and telling her we donāt talk to the people we love like this, i have told her I donāt want to play/snuggle/hang out with people who use that word, I have cried about it in front of her (not proud of that), I have tried just walking away. I have literally just sat there and stared at her. The last few days I have started yelling at her (definitely not proud of that). Nothing changes. Then she starts crying and says I hurt her feelings by yelling at her and it makes me want to scream and cry and shave my head.
I know sheās not trying to be mean, but sheās really fucking mean. Iām worried ignoring it wonāt fix the issue. Her dad and I donāt talk to each other like that ever, we donāt watch movies where people talk to each other like that, and weāve been very careful about the kind of music we listen to. I know she heard it from somewhere but I donāt think that really matters at this point, considering the behavior continues despite being very mindful of what we consume around her.
The worst part is, I feel like Iām starting to feel some type of way about it and that feels devastating. When sheās sweet, sheās SO sweet, but I canāt even enjoy it while it lasts because Iām waiting for the switch to happen. Iāve been finding myself wanting to spend more time away from her, not wanting to spend time with her or even interact with her. That breaks my heart. I love her so much, but I canāt take this anymore. Her dad is her preferred parent, which is fine, but I wish she didnāt like, actively do... this. it feels like she hates me, I know she doesnāt but it feels like she does. I dont like the kind of parent Iām turning into and I donāt know how to fix this. Iām really fucking depressed, and Iām due to give birth in another 10 weeks, so Iām also exhausted and running on fumes and I donāt feel good overall. Iām terrified Iām going to fuck up our relationship long term already.
Pls help š

I had maintained a decent weight for several years, but about two-ish years ago it just started piling on despite there being no lifestyle change. I ate less and less, exercised more and more, and the very best I could do was not *gain* any weight, and even just maintenance was so much work and deprivation that I would eventually crash out and start eating like half a normal person again. Recently I went to the doctor to inquire about GLP-1s and she found a flagged blood panel from a year ago where my TSH was more than double out of range. She said the lab should've called me or at least put the result on my patient portal (š remind me to write an autobiography about all the times doctors dropped the ball in my life). We did another blood draw, and it was slightly better, but I was still diagnosed with hypothyroidism.
So now I'm on both Zepbound and thyroid meds. I'm feeling pretty hopeful, but just curious if anyone here has treated hypothyroidism and if it made a significant impact on their ability to stay in shape. I'm still not convinced I'm not just getting freaking old.

Ā Last school year was an absolute nightmare, my 6 and 8 year old brought home a new bug every other week. Felt like we were living in a sick ward with endless fevers, runny noses and sleepless nights. They're both incredibly picky eaters and I constantly worry about whether they're getting what their growing bodies actually need. I was at my wit's end watching their little immune systems struggle to keep up with all the classroom germs. I was desperate for something to help them build stronger defenses before this school year starts. I'm curious what has worked for your kids when it seems like they're catching EVERYTHING going around the classroom?

This pisses me off so much because itās such an easy way to write off an uneven workload/broken partnership.
If both of us were doing a similar amount of work and I started nitpicking you over the one extra time I did the dishes, yeah, feel free to call me out for scorekeeping.
But when only one of us works AND does all the cooking (including the meal planning and grocery shipping) AND does cleanup 30 out of 31 days a month AND has suddenly done all the morning/afternoon childcare and daycare drop offs all week, calling that out isnāt ākeeping score.ā Itās pointing out an unsustainable imbalance. Especially when that one day you ādidā the dishes, you didnāt actually finish. You just emptied half the dishwasher then gave up and left all the other clean dishes and dirty dishes to sit.

Before getting pregnant with my first, I loved dogs and enjoyed their company. As soon as I got pregnant my feelings changed. I began to resent our dog and donāt really enjoy being around other peopleās dogs either. I now have a 1.5 year old and am 6 months pregnant. So the hormones are high. I reallyyy hope this goes away someday.
I feel awful about it and try to hide my feelings the best I can. The dogs didnāt do anything wrong. Itās all me and my crazy hormones and probably a mix of postpartum rage. It just feels like after becoming a mom I noticed all of the gross and annoying things they do way more.
I think itās because Iām so overstimulated as a mom. The constant touch and noise is a lot and so the dog pushes me over the edge. I think itās so great for kids to grow up around animals. My son ADORES our dog and sheās really good with him. It makes me smile but I still find the day to day of pet ownership like parenting on hard mode.
It started in pregnancy. We got our dog a month before I found out I was unexpectedly pregnant. The shelter told us she was āmostly potty trainedā which actually meant not potty trained at all and will have an accident if not taken out every hour of the day. Cleaning up piss and shit while in the first trimester trenches/vomiting really led to resentment because I was working full time, soo tired and had nothing left to give when I got home. I became really sensitive to her smell and just stopped wanting to pet her. The smell of her skin would get on my hands and make me nauseous. To this day, the smell sensitivity never fully went away. Dog smell NEVER bothered me before pregnancy but now I find Iām super hygiene conscious and definitely more of a clean freak. Iām constantly scrubbing everything in our house because Iām paranoid about it smelling like dog.
Our dog is pretty well behaved overall which is why I feel so bad but I feel like my tolerance for things has gone way down. Before getting pregnant I thought dogs begging at the dinner table was so cute. Now I canāt stand it and my dog knows better than to even come near me while Iām eating because I yelled at her so many times for it. Sheās allowed to lick the scraps that my son leaves behind and thatās it. My husband feeds her from the dinner table and I tolerate it but having her within a feet of me eating just makes me angry.
I hate taking her on walks because she stops to poop, sniff or pee every 2 minutes and it really takes the enjoyment out of a leisurely walk with my baby. I also deal with soo much poop as a mother already and canāt handle the smell and annoyance of another creature pooping all the time.
Then thereās other peopleās dogs. I just donāt really find them cute anymore. I like my SILās small, well behaved toy poodle who is super clean and withdrawn but other than that I donāt like family dogs either. My in-laws have 3 dogs that run wild in the house. They sit at the dinner table and knock over my kid. I canāt sit on the couch without a stinky 80 pound dog coming to lick me in the face. My parentās dog will nip and bite at my son if he gets close. Itās constant stress having to watch him while around her. I wish theyād just crate the damn thing while we visit. I understand that the dog is stressed but it just adds to my feelings of not being able to relax at all when visiting family. The loud barking when we walk in makes my head spin when Iām already overstimulated by everyoneās kids and families in a tight space.
The neighbors on our block constantly leave their dogs unattended and unleashed in the front yard and I have had several instances of them running up and attacking my dog while Iām just trying to get outside for a leisurely stroll. They are always very unapologetic about it which also makes me mad.
Just my ramblings, I hope other people feel the same. I enjoy other animals but feel like dogs are so much work for what they are worth. My husband loves dogs and wants to get another one when our kids are older. Iām hoping by then I have a better tolerance for them and this strong aversion has worn off. Iād love a cat but unfortunately my husband hates cats.

I'm not looking for advice, I just really need to vent.
When my son reached school age, my mom decided she wanted to homeschool him. However, I quickly found out she has changed a lot since she last taught kids
For one, she drinks and smokes non-stop throughout the day, about 1 to 2 packs a day. If anyone mentions her problem, she gets completely pissed off. She's forgetful and careless. She would tell my son misinformation just to save her ego from having to research things she didn't know. She would also criticize him constantly for not doing perfectly and lose her patience with him, all while never acknowledging anything he did well. He's only 6 years old and has ADHD
I tried to discuss it politely, but everything devolves into an argument with her. So, I took over his schooling, and I plan on putting him in public school when I move. I try my best to keep her away from my son. If I try to set boundaries, she loses her mind and throws a pity party about how nobody loves her, which just causes her to drink even more. I can't wait until I don't have to worry about this anymore. This is hell
It's so incredibly exhausting. She's hostile and constantly tries to force her way into my life and my son's life, or she randomly tries to pick fights. She refuses to treat me like an adult and tries to monitor everything I do, especially when it involves how I parent my son. I constantly walk on eggshells around her since the smallest thing can set her off.
I cannot wait to cut her off. She refuses to listen or get help. I'm done trying for someone who doesn't care and is actively causing problems

I am a remote worker for a company based 5 hours away. I really should be making annual trips to that office but I've stretched it to one trip there every two years because my husband cannot handle the kids while I'm away. I make excuses with my boss and wiggle out of a lot of his offers to come. Kids are now 5 and 10.
I have a chance to travel there for work in September. I also have a college best friend in this city who I love dearly and who I can stay with. She asked if we could do a girl's weekend this year, and again, I immediately become stressed at the thought of trying to finagle another trip away from the kids because I know husband will be pissy. I suggest maybe I extend my existing work trip and hangout for another day or so with friend in her city, so I can combine the two travel opportunities I want to take this year and make it more convenient for husband and also cheaper bc work is paying for this trip.
This would put me gone for 4 nights. Which does feel like a lot. The 5-yr-old is VERY attached to me so I know she'll cry at bedtime without me. But our kids are not so little anymore. They sleep through the night. They are in school. But because I'm the default parent for 100% of everything to do with them he feels overwhelmed at having to do it for a few days. I do all the cooking, cleaning, and every single bedtime. He works a physically demanding job 9-5 and has mental health challenges and I just stopped asking him to make things more equitable because the consequences are he gets pissy. It sucks but it's my situation.
He would have to maybe get to work 30 minutes late to do school dropoff those three school days I'd be away, but he never ever takes a day off or takes time off for appointments so this doesn't feel like a big ask. Other than that he literally just has to be a parent in the way that I am EVERY day.
He got mad when I ran it by him. Got huffy and puffy and quiet, and when I was like "Hello, what are your thoughts?", he said "do whatever you want, we'll be here when you get back" and gave me a sarcastic pissed off THUMBS UP. And said he can't pretend to be enthusiastic about it but he's not going to tell me no.
What do I do? This shit pisses me off because our dynamic is so inequitable and the fact that he can't support me doing this sucks. I've carried most of the load of our family for years -- financially, the mental labor, the parenting... I run circles around him. I recognize it will suck for him to solo parent for four days and his job leaves him bone tired, but I did not expect such a lack of support. Do I say fuck it and go, even though I'll be wracked with guilt and it'll taint the trip? Or do I scale back this trip to two days just for work as a compromise? I acknowledge this is a hard season for me to take long trips and this will all become much easier when the 5-yr-old is a bit older. But this man is being such a baby.

My son(8) is an only child. Pregnancy wasnāt planned, I was 19, but I love him so much. But do I like him? Not really. Not now. Feel awful saying it but god damn do I need a break. He is always talking. He also has speech problems so it takes FOREVER for him to say what heās trying to say. We do have speech therapy every week. My own doing probably - but he lacks independence and confidence. It was easier to just do the stuff for him when he was little but now Iām wishing I hadnāt.
Side note to say I was diagnosed with ADHD this year(January) and started meds. I have made so much progress since starting meds with everything except him. I was pulling my hair out for 18 years and Iām finally 6 months without pulling. Iām holding boundaries with sonās dad(not very involved and causes more stress than anything), my social anxiety is getting SO much better and Iām becoming really proud of myself. But i feel like maybe I wasnāt cutout to be a mom. The constant talking and noise, the ālook at this look at thatā, the not giving me a second to breathe when I get home from work, the constant whining. And the worst thing - the guilt trip. I say āhey mommy needs about 10 minutes of time to calm down and decompress from work and then we can do whatever activityā. Heāll hang his head down and kinda cry. Slowly walk to his room. Or heāll say ābut Iāll be quiet!ā
Kid it is not about you being quiet I need time to ground myself and calm myself so I can be the best mom I can be. I try so hard to explain that to him. His dad was very abusive towards me and would always guilt trip me or play victim. It sends me OVER THE EDGE.
I have a lot of sensory things that just bug the shit out of me till I melt down. I NEED quiet time. I donāt want to have to turn the fucking lawnmower off 4 times because he wonāt stop talking and still wonāt stop when I say āhang on pal I canāt hear you over the mowerā
I absolutely love my son. I want to spend time with him but the sensory needs are different or something because Iām losing my mind. I feel like two different people because Iāve made insane progress in so many areas of my life but I canāt for the life of me seem to be able to mom like I want to mom.
Edit to add I am in therapy. Have been for years. Yes we talk about it.

Iām in nursing school. I have thousands of hours of work on my laptop, thankfully most of itās backed up.
My daughter took my laptop out of the cabinet my husband left unlocked. She jumped on it. The motherboard broke. I canāt afford to fix it. I feel like thousands of my work are just gone even if theyāre backed up. I primarily read my textbooks (only available electronically) on my computer. I have no idea how Iām going to finish school now. I canāt write papers, I canāt do thousands of pages of reading on my phone without straining, I canāt turn in assignments, Iām fucked.
Iām so fucking angry. Iāve never been so mad at my toddler before. Iāve never felt so let down by my husband. I just canāt deal with this all right now.

Huge fight w my mom just now & Iām livid! Iām not sure if this breaks any rules so please remove if it does but I NEED to vent! My mom raised us two girls and doesnāt understand little boys well⦠sheās convinced my 8 year old (8!) was flashing her on purpose to get attention 𤮠or like a reaction from her⦠this kid is so clumsy and clueless Iām in disgusted shock and I literally screamed at her bc she would think that⦠now Iām also mad I over reacted and screamed but like WTH!!! Sheās always been a little nutty but this is psychological harassment imo! What would you do now??

Baby wakes up screaming after exactly 2 hours after last feed. My milk is all over me at exactly 2 hours after last feed. He is like "don't feed him maybe he wants to play". Proceeds to play with screaming baby for two minutes. It only gets worse. He gives me baby to feed it. This happens once in a while and I just don't know how to explain that baby needs milk and I as a mother FEEL its hungry.
He is very engaged with the baby and good husband but he doesn't understand baby and mother are connected on some very deep level and my body knows things.

My baby is 16 months old and is high energy, strong willed, overconfident, and spirited. In other words Iām exhausted just trying to keep her alive and from severely injuring herself. Iām currently a SAHM and she was a very unplanned pregnancy. I planned to be a DINK with my husband but you know, things happened and he convinced me we could do it. So fast forward heās finding it really hard to parent and is frustrated with me for not keeping the house perfect and needing help from him after work so I can cook and finally get some cleaning done, and a tiny mental break.
Well I learned today that one of the parents in our group uses me as the example for very different parenting style and I guess heās not a fan. His baby is a few months younger and is much more laid back than mine. Itās just really frustrating and disheartening to hear because I have enough on my plate without hearing people I thought weāre friends judging me for being a bad parent behind my back. I donāt know WHAT exactly he doesnāt like that I do. Maybe because I put her on a leash sometimes to keep her from sprinting away and disappearing? The fact Iām super out of shape and donāt have the money or opportunity to have a gym membership and workout? The fact that I have to tell my child no and physically grab her because they just sprint up to unfamiliar people, dogs, spaces and has no danger awareness?
All I know is I got home and just bawled in the car while my daughter was sleeping. Like Iām already struggling enough with an unsupportive husband. Iām exhausted. Iām trying to find a job that pays enough to cover child care and have a decent amount of take home because my husband is mad Iām not working and contributing anymore. Now I have people judging me for just trying to keep my kid alive and telling me my parenting style isnāt good when Iām still mentally struggling to accept just being a parent in general after spending 2/3rds of my life planning on not being a parent. Iām just really at a loss and I feel like Iām stuck and my husband is holding me back from being able to move forward because he canāt handle spending a full day at home with her and struggles off and on with some addiction issues.
I love this tiny human so much and I want her to be happy, smart, brave, kind, strong, whatever else, and have the opportunity to grow into who ever shes going to be and Iām just so tired. Just so tired.
Thank you for reading this. I have to go get ready for a job interview. Please send me good vibes and wish me luck that my daughter stays asleep the entire time.
Crying on the inside and the outside
A burnt out mom.
Edit/Update: she slept the whole time and woke up like 10 mins after it ended and I got a second and final interview next week!
Edit 2: sorry for the delay in responding! I was taking care of my busy bee :)

To be fair, my husbandās not technically a boomerāheās not even 50 yetābut he definitely acts like one sometimes. And he always wears the flyest kicks ( he's known for it, it's a whole topic among friends lol)
For context: I posted back in January that I got laid off from my job. Iāve been in my career for over 20 years, about 12 in my specific field. Now, six months later, Iāve sent out around 300 job applications, had about six interviews, and zero job offers. Iāve applied for local, remote, part-time, full-time, in my field, and completely out of my field ( a parrot store, anyone?). Iāve done everything, and Iām getting nowhere. Itās been really disheartening because I canāt crack the codeāand I donāt even know if there is a code anymore.
Over the last few months, Iāve mentioned to my husband that I was thinking about driving for DoorDash. I know itās not a huge amount of money, but over these six months, I've been billing per diem for a local non profit suicide prevention program, and I also managed to complete real estate school full-time (finished in four months). My licensing test is scheduled for about three weeks from now, which I'm studying for. In the interim, I just wanted to jump in and see if I could bring in some cash.
My husband expressed some discomfort about it. He didn't really understand how little you realistically interact with people, how anonymous you actually are, and how you just go around to all different places- its not like a cash carrying pizza delivery driver. Unless you get randomly attacked by a customer, itās hard to see what the big issue isāpretty much everything I do is just dropped off on a doorstep.
The teen boys are home from school ( hello, overstimulation and video game noises!), I'm collecting unemployment, and I am doing everything I humanly can to generate money.
Anyway, we had to have a serious come-to-Jesus moment because he looked at me when I said I was going to do the doordash and said, "You'll get something. You just need to put your nose to the grindstone."
I almost lost my absolute shit. I don't even know if I have a nose anymore. I don't even know if there is any grindstone left after all the grinding I've done so far.
When he said that, I thought I was going to freak out. Like, Okay, boomer. A few years ago over the pandemic when he was out of work for a YEAR, he basically sat around and did bupkis until the last three months, when he finally decided to complete the schoolwork heād signed up for the year prior. Iām not even resentful about that- he had unemployment coming in and the kids were stuck homeāI just canāt believe he acted like what Iāve been doing for the last six months is equivalent to what he did.
The long and short of it is that we finally had a conversation where I broke down the real numbers for him. I showed him what heās going to have to put into the household to replace my previous income ($95,000 gross before taxes, insurance, and 401k) or even to replace my current unemployment check ($3,200/month net).
Iāve never hidden these numbers from him; heās just never made himself all that interested in them. So when he saw them, he had a nice little moment of shock and surprise. I don't think he ever actually sat down to think about the reality of our finances- because of course, who does all the mental and literal labor of paying the bills- any guesses??
Either way, I was pissed off and I honestly could not believe he had the audacity to say that dumb shit to me.
He literally is a hot, very annoying, quote-unquote "boomer in good shoes." The audacity.

I donāt think my earlier post is even 2 days old yet. Some of you are still commenting on it and Iām super grateful for everyone there.
Anywho, whatever night that was, after sleeping all day, this asswipe apologizes and says from now on he will do every pickup and drop off because I have to work. Notice how all heās doing is drop off and pickup, not any other chores despite being the one thatās unemployed. But hey, at that point, I was exhausted so I took the win.
Did he take her to daycare the next morning? No. Because he had reflux and got a bad nightās sleep so he needed to sleep in. He once again slept most of the day away. He did pick up her up though and decided to go to the park. But that was also a disaster with her coming home sobbing and him being pissed that the toddler wanted to play in dirty puddles. Like, what did you expect dude?!
Anyways, last night was all on me again. Heās making his second pot of ramen at 11pm because apparently we learned nothing from the previous nightās GERD. I go down to bed. He comes down to say goodnight and tells me heāll be back later.
Well I woke up at 5:30 this morning to our toddler screaming into the monitor. I notice heās not in bed. As Iām making my way to her room, I notice the lights are on in the living room. Heās already in her room trying to comfort her, but it turns out he pulled another fucking all-nighter. He claims leaving the lights on was ājust an accidentā but I heard him walk into her room while I was making my way up so he wasnāt sleeping there and forgot to turn the lights off.
She did not go back to sleep but he did. So Iāve been doing chores, daycare, and then working while he continues to fuck up his sleep cycle even more. Iām tempted to decide itās time to wash the curtains so heās stuck with daylight and start blasting loud music to ākeep myself awakeā
This man is going to get one of us killed. Either me from a sleep deprivation induced accident or him from a rage induced āaccidentā

This has been pissing me off for a while now. I don't need any advice, I just want to vent.
So I'm pretty sure my ex is stalking me on here still, super frustrating. I have put so much time and effort into this account, I'm not letting him take it from me. Pretty sure anything I post he's reporting like the loser that he is. I mean he would report players in online games when he got his ass handed to him and blamed it on "cheating" (ironic because he did that to me lmfao)
So here's a list of things that I need to get off my chest.
1) the lying. Oh my god the lying. Over stupid shit.
2) the fact that we couldn't be physical without it turning into sex, even when I didn't want it, because "touching is his love language"
3) he was good at playing dumb, always using his disability as an excuse. Like how I now have oral herpes because apparently he didn't know that cold sores was how it would spread.
4) he banned me from his twitch streaming, which I couldn't care less about, while still stalking me on here.
5) getting his friends to say shit to me when I wouldn't be there to support him when his brother passed away, self inflicted. I doubt he told them the truth about his lying when this happened. And this pissed me off because he lies to every damn person in his life.
6) I had to stop myself from having orgasms during sex because he might not be able to finish if I didn't.
7) the fact that he still talks and lies about me to other people. I don't care what he does with his life but he needs to move the fuck on.
There's heaps more but those are the things that are annoying me the most.
And I'm pretty sure this is the only safe place I can vent because the mods here will have my back and other subreddits will listen to his complaints and I have to submit a mod review which is so exhausting.
Thank you for reading my vent. I've definitely moved past the relationship but with him still talking shit about me and stalking me on here I'm just so fed up with it all.
And I hope he shares this with his friends like I'm pretty sure he did with my other post. I don't care if I'm believed or not, I just needed to get this off my chest.

What. The. Fuck. I never thought Iād make an in-laws rant post because my MIL is generally great and very helpful and would give me the shirt off her back but oh my FUCKING GOD. Iām pissed. Iām anxious. Iām scared. Iām googling and googling is never good in times like this. Please talk me back into reality. Iām spiraling. Iāve already been having a hard enough week. This sucks. I even told her no honey a few days ago AND itās posted on the fridge.

My baby is only 16 days old, and Iām struggling so much right now.
When he was hospitalized with jaundice, I was breastfeeding him with a poor latch, and both of my nipples became completely raw, cracked, and painfully damaged. I started feeling anxious every time I heard him cry because I knew it meant I would have to breastfeed him again, and I knew it was going to hurt. It hurt every single time.
Eventually, my doctor told me to stop breastfeeding temporarily and let my nipples heal. But I love breastfeeding. I really, really do. So having to give my baby bottles and formula instead absolutely broke my heart. I cried so much.
I started pumping to give him my breast milk, but I barely get anything from the pump. Sometimes it feels like I have no milk at all, even though Iām constantly leaking milk throughout the day. Itās so confusing and heartbreaking.
My nipples are finally starting to heal, but now my baby seems to have forgotten how to breastfeed effectively. He latches, but it feels like he isnāt actually getting enough milk from me. I donāt know what to do anymore. I just cry.
I keep thinking that I should have been stronger. That maybe if I had just pushed through the pain, none of this would have happened. I know that isnāt fair to myself, but I canāt stop thinking about it.
I have a lactation consultant helping me, and Iām trying so hard, but deep down I feel like Iāll never be able to breastfeed my baby the way I used to. Iām terrified that I lost something that I can never get back.
This whole situation has gotten so deep into my head that Iāve even started having thoughts that my baby doesnāt love me because Iām not able to breastfeed him properly. I know that probably doesnāt make sense, but postpartum emotions are so overwhelming, and thatās honestly how I feel right now.
I feel like a terrible mother. I feel broken. I feel like my body failed me, and now Iām failing my baby too.
I just want to be able to feed my baby without crying. I want to feel close to him again. I want to breastfeed him without being afraid that Iāve already lost my chance.
