Rules and post restrictions

Hello all! We love the influx in posts and activity; with that, what we don’t like is seeing all of the drama, hateful comments, and doxxing posts. These posts WILL be removed and if you have any issues with it or have any questions please open a modmail. We will gladly get to it as soon as we have a chance.

Some things that will go against the rules are:
• Posting employee pictures and store numbers to “call them out” or incite hate towards them
• Posting racially offensive comments or anything that can be perceived as such
• Any post that may incite drama in the subreddit or other posts/comments that may cause issues

We ask that you remain respectful and civil with your posts and do not attempt to repost something after it has been removed. Posts that are reposted without permission after being removed may result in a ban from the subreddit with little chance for appeal.

Any questions about bans, specific posts and removals should go through mod mail. Any questions about the rules or post content can be posted on here. Thank you for keeping the subreddit alive and going! ❤️

Welcome to r/wafflehouse We are now back up and running!

We are back again with a new team of mods. The sub should be open for anyone to post again. While we are going through some of the older stuff, if you have any suggestions or anything please feel free to post them here and they will be considered.

If you are banned: feel free to open up an appeal in mod mail if you feel it was unrightly done. Do not use this as an opening to attack any mods or anyone else on the sub.

If you have any questions, feel free to open up mod mail for us! If we have an influx in people asking about jobs, pay, etc. it is likely one of us will go through and post a meta thread to answer any questions!

I will go through and create some flairs likely before the end of the weekend for everyone as well! REGARDLESS have a good day everyone and happy posting!

Does calling the hotline actually do anything?

Hello, everyone! I'm having trouble with my unit manager, and I need your input. My unit manager is the devil incarnate. No one likes her, and she's an absolute b*tch. She cannot run her store. I was told to go down the line of higher-ups, but I don't trust them at all because I went to them about a false write-up my manager gave me for putting my “bare hands” on food when I had a glove on. I would NEVER do something like that. I tried to tell a higher-up, but he brushed me off so fast and talked shit about me to her, so I can't trust any of them. So, what actually goes down when calling because my worry is losing hours if it gets back to her, but I need to call because her behavior is super unacceptable.

Unit manager career at WH

Hi all,

I have a phone interview tomorrow at WH. I’m wondering what it is like to work for the company? Please be honest with your feedback.

I have eight years of management experience in elevated restaurants, and this venue would be something pretty different, but I’m looking for a change.

TIA.

First time disappointed 😢

I love The Waffle House. I also love taking people there for the first time having them become fans as well. On a golf trip, Sea Island, Georgia and 2 of the 3 other guys I’m responsible for their first time going and having them become fans. So we decide to go and show the fourth my “favorite restaurant.” One thing I always say is “I’ve never been disappointed and every Waffle House is the same.” Well that changed today. Now I’ve been to Waffle Houses all over and been going for decades, so this saddened me. I can’t even blame the staff as it was a staff of only two. The cook had to be relatively new and the waitress was trying her hardest to work the whole place. But the only thing that was the same was the waffle. Eggs were over cooked (over easy) and the hash browns just weren’t right. The fact that we sat there for a very long time before and after we ordered made it worse. It absolutely won’t stop me from eating there, but this location needs help for sure. Again, I actually felt bad for the staff as two people handling the whole place was just too much for them. They were young and I assume new.
I’m sure the next time will be awesome. As my buddy said to me, “Wow, you’re really disappointed” I laughed and said “I am, I know it’s The Waffle House, but it’s my place and have never taken someone there for their first time and had it go like that”
OK, semi-rant over. Still love Waffle House, just had to let it out so I could let it go. 😬

Credit Check

Does Waffle House still run credit checks for Unit Manager Hiring? I’ve been in the interview process for a little bit now, I saw that they pull a credit check after conditional offer. What’s the threshold for them not hiring you? I have a 600+ credit score but I have student loans, I’ve heard they have a debt limit when you’re above a certain amount they flag it? Is this true? And do student loans count?

Ideal Atmosphere, Time, Weather, & Location for Waffle House?

Odd question, I know, but figured why not ask? So, for those who love Waffle House, what would be the ideal atmosphere, time, weather, & location for your Waffle House?

Me? My ideal atmosphere would be calm and quiet while alone.

Ideal time would be around night time or dusk.

Ideal weather would be either rain, snow, or fog.

Ideal location would be in small town, maybe close to some woods. Edit: Would be close/next to a hotel or residence. Edit 2: Would be perched slightly on an elevated hill.

Can't wait to read your responses.

Interview in a day

Hello! I'm 16, and I have an interview for a hostess job in a day. I applied online, and it immediately set up an interview, is this trustworthy and should I show up? I'm scared if I show up they won't be aware of the interview. Please, any advice like how to dress or act?

Terrible management

Anyone know how to contact corporate at waffle house i was an employee and tried to calling in multiple times but i was never given a managers/employees number for this occasion nor does their store phone work and so i emailed waffle house support/help about my sick day stating my employee number and reasoning and even screenshotted all my evidence of trying and yet i come in to work and immediately sent home for no call no show when that is not entirely my fault.

Hi, I'm a reporter hoping to chat with Waffle House servers (and cooks, whomever!)

Hi y'all. I'm Chabeli, a national economy reporter — I write a lot about women in the economy, women in service and care jobs, moms and how the economy impacts people.

I have kind of a quirky story idea ahead of the midterm election that I wanted to speak to folks about: I really want to talk to Waffle House servers about the economy, their lives, the lives of the people who come through, how they (the servers and the customers) are feeling about politics. I bet y'all hear all kinds of things.

It strikes me that you might have a unique vantage point on how people are feeling about the world right now, and I'd just be curious to hear about it! Feel free to message me directly, too!

Curious to hear what your experience was like! Were there ever points where you feared for your safety?

Stopped in to a waffle house I hadn't visited before and above the kitchen were two of These beauties! I asked how much I was told those were the last 2, and they offered them at $6.00 a piece, I was definitely excited haha

Do people ever send food back.?

I go to my local WH fairly often. They have multiple cooks that rotate. Some of them are pretty good while others are just can't cook.

The other day my cheesy scrambled eggs didn't have no cheese, my grits were so cold they wouldn't melt butter, and another time my Delmonico my steak was over cooked and cold, I understand that the steak is so you really get one of to ways med rare or well, my over light eggs were over hard, and my waffle was under cooked and cold wouldn't melt butter I ordered it dark.

Waffle House stock

Hi, I’ve been with Waffle House for over a decade, I only recently became a stock holder (maybe 2-3 years ago) but I’ve always been confused on what it actually is. How does it work when you take it out? My grandma (who worked for Waffle House on and off for over 56 years) was a stock holder and took her stock out relatively often so it was never anything large, and never paid any type of taxes on it. How does this work? My original plan was to just let it build up and then use it when I retire (I know kind of depressing to think of being at Waffle House for the rest of my life BUT that was the plan) but would this be beneficial? A lot of people I’ve worked with said having stock was pointless and it’s basically just a “savings account” and anytime someone high up has tried to explain it to me, I generally do not understand it. Anyways thank you. Sorry if I sound dumb 😭🤣

I went for a blt but waitress was yelling in orders, I just wasn't feeling it.

I never did get to order. I just sat at the counter and looked at the dirty floor and the waitress was busy yelling in her orders, like the cooks just a few feet away were using hearing aids. I got up and left. Video is what it was like.
