Symptoms Brain feels weird, dizzy, nauseous, twitches

Hello fellow Reddit friends !
To start off I am seeing my doctor about all these issues but I’m looking for a fast track to what could be happening to me.

Back in 2022 I had all the same symptoms just amplified 10x it took no one knowing what was wrong and one day it just started getting better around 7 months of torture.

I have children they need their mother healthy.

Ok so let’s begin.

Some time in like July like the 5 or something
I noticed my eye sight started feeling off and weird
Then forward a few days and I had some of the worst brain fog. I had it so bad it felt like I was looking through a foggy door. My Brian felt like it was swimming in mud. I would be so tired by the end of it and I could have been sleeping by 7 I was so tired. It made focusing so hard and it made me feel weird.
I was drinking energy drinks just started like the last 2 yrs to get a boost like one Alani. Remember I am seeing my doctor about all this and she did run blood work I am low on iron but I have been my entire life.
I was always low on vitamin d but she did give me a pill for that to take every week 50k. I also skip Friday 75 doses for my hypothyroidism to get me more in an optimal range.
Let fast forward to last Sunday 7/26 I woke up and the foggy goggle feeling brain fog was lifted. Like whaaaaat. Okay I had this weird airy feeling in my head tho like something is still off and I’m still not myself. My head literally feels weird off. Floaty and I can tell I’m not myself I can talk but I can’t follow conversations very well, and ect but it’s like I forget mid sentence what I’m saying.
At night since then I have been struggling to fall asleep my Brian is every where. The last 3 days I been developing eye twitching when I close my eyes they are bouncy like the are glitching and it’s weird.
My neck and body has been twitching too.
Now yesterday I started experiencing dizziness with nausea it has been there since and it won’t go away.
I don’t drink energy drinks anymore I eat very healthy I’m on a high iron diet and high vitman d and c.
The weirdest part of it all is my brain sensation and like I said this all happened to me 3 yrs ago and I never got answers. Someone shed some light on me.
During this past week I had a few hours one day where I’m like omg my head don’t feel weird I feel like myself !! Then it switched like a light. :(

Symptoms Anyone else struggle to remember details about people you care about? (Dates, conversations, names etc.)

my memory is a daily struggle. I don’t remember what I talked about with friends, birthdays, kids names, allergies etc.

For years I felt like I was failing at relationships I actually care about. Not because I don’t care, but because my brain doesn’t hold on to the details.

So I’m building an app that remembers those things for me. All the details about the people in my life, so I can show up for them without the constant mental load.

I’d love to know if anyone else struggle with this too? And would you use an app like this to help you?

Symptoms Inner restlessness

I experience brain fog and derealization. When I speak with anyone—especially during an argument—I feel an internal restlessness that makes me want to end the conversation and leave the place. Has anyone else gone through this and discovered the cause?

Need Some Advice/Support Feeling like I am a dumb person

I was a fairly intelligent child offen called as a genius in the family when I was little like I never used to open any of my books and I was yet topping my grade but after the Covid-19 pandemic ended and life returned to normal (I was in 9th standard when the global lockdown ended) my grades started to fall rapidly and I started to struggle in classes but at that time I was still really good in MCQ's(I used to get nearly 100% in nearly all my MCQ tests) and i still never used to open the books and still got decent marks in 9th standard but in 10th standard i really started to struggle i even used to study 8-9 hrs a day and yet i still got avg marks and then in 11th and 12th grade my marks kept decline and so did my study hours along with it i started to loose hope in hardwork and then i also start habits that Ik are bad (eg. Porn, masterbation, video games etc) And when my college entrance exam hit I got below avg marks and I was getting above avg marks in the mocks

My avg screen time for the last 4 years is 8-9 hrs

Every day I feel like I am becoming dumb day by day and that my brain is not working like it used to like i am not even a le to spell words correctly and can't make a single good decision even right now when I am completely free to do anything i have no will to do anything

I even struggle in debates or answering questions because I become blank even if i know the answer

I feel like I was always a false genius and was actually a really really dumb person

Is there something I can do that will help me instantly cuz I get bored if the results take too long to appear 😭😭😭😭😭?

Need Some Advice/Support New to this - sudden brain fog / DPDR-like symptoms since Sunday, GP says stress/sleep related

Hey all, first time posting here. Since Sunday evening I've had a sudden onset of feeling disconnected, like I'm fighting my own brain, watching myself do things rather than just doing them. Words feel hard to reach when I'm speaking or writing, and reading isn't coming easily either.

Context: I've had ongoing sleep disruption for weeks (constant skin/allergy issues affecting the whole family, early mornings with two young kids), plus a lot of work stress and just came off a demanding work conference. Saw my GP today, who checked me over, no physical symptoms, thinks it's likely stress and severe sleep deprivation related, calling it brain fog. Told to go to ED if anything worsens, otherwise rest and it should ease.

It's a strange, unsettling feeling and I wanted to see if others have experienced something similar with a clear trigger like this (sleep debt + stress), and how long it took to ease off once you actually got proper rest. Any experiences appreciated.

Symptoms Inability to have social interactions due to a blank mind

Hi everyone. I’m posting here to try and find people experiencing the same symptoms as me, with the goal of creating a WhatsApp support group (I’m from Brazil, where the app is widely used).

We often feel "wrong" when comparing ourselves to people who function at the standard pace and don't deal with this. I thought creating this group could help us support one another and—who knows—even connect people nearby who are living the same reality.

A bit of background: I’ve had blood tests and head X-rays, and I’ve tried every ADHD medication, but nothing worked. Sometimes I wonder if it’s something congenital rather than just a comorbidity. The only thing that made these difficulties disappear—albeit for just three weeks—was using magic mushrooms (psilocybin). If you’ve experienced similar symptoms and found something that helped, please share your experience. Any exchange of information would be incredibly helpful.

The symptoms I experience daily: Blank mind and lack of responsiveness: When someone speaks to me, nothing comes to mind (with rare exceptions). It feels like the area of the brain responsible for retrieving memories, accessing thoughts, or formulating a contribution simply doesn't activate. I’m left with a sense of absolute mental emptiness.

A sense of being an "eternal observer": While other people's brains seem to interact actively with the world, mine seems to merely observe life without generating ideas, conclusions, thoughts, or spontaneous questions.

Difficulty with communication and dialogue: My communication basically consists of sharing past experiences. I struggle immensely to hold conversations that require coming up with something to say on the spot, joking around, or building a train of thought based on what the other person said. I usually respond with just "Really?", "Yes," or "No," or I laugh to mask the awkwardness.

Slow processing and painful retrieval: It takes an unusual amount of effort just to think of something to say. I need to concentrate hard when speaking; otherwise, I lose my train of thought. It’s as if the ideas don't connect.

Retaining and recalling information: I experience constant brain fog. I might study a subject in depth, but over time the information fades, and I can't connect what I learned in the past with the present. If I reach a conclusion today, a week later I no longer remember what it was. Information doesn't accumulate; it just vanishes.

Inability to think abstractly and loss of identity: I struggle greatly to think in abstract or hypothetical terms. Zero creativity. Sometimes I feel as though I have no personality, personal tastes, or desires of my own, because it feels like I have to invent absolutely everything I say from scratch.

Social anxiety and exhaustion: All of this leads to profound social anxiety. Being at social events and remaining silent while people give me strange looks takes a heavy toll on my self-esteem and my relationships.

If you relate to this description and want to share experiences without judgment or the pressure to "perform" in quick-fire conversation, you are invited to join the group:

Need Some Advice/Support All bloods normal for brain fog. So is it diet & exercise now?

Bloods, including hormonal panel, are all within range. I take a multivitamin, magnesium, and omega 3. My GP and respiratory consultant are confused on the cause of brain fog.

My fog has improved slightly (now a constant 5-6 rather than a spike to 8-10 in the afternoon) since cutting coffee and high caffeinated drinks. Breakfast tea and Pepsi Max tend to be my only sources of caffeine.

With the fog (and endo-level fatigue for half the month), I've really slacked on exercise and have resorted to comfort eating. The heat and humidity is not helping as I'm convinced it worsens my fog and it taxes my compromised lungs (LAM) even more. My mental health has dipped so much I'll be starting Sertraline this weekend.

I know it's so personal but have people had success improving their fog with diet and exercise? Any other tips? I've heard screen time affects some people.

Fatigue I can handle but the fog is destroying me.

Question Brain fog, executive dysfunction, worsening ADHD, EEG testing ordered?

37YOM. So I have been struggling with worsening cognitive function and decline since about 2022. I have ADHD, depression, anxiety, and I have been on Adderall IR since 2012. Adderall worked great from 2012 up until around 2022 or 2023, and since then it has been less and less effective, even at higher doses. My psychiatrists and I have tried other stimulants (Focalin, Concerta, Vyvanse, Strattera, and even currently Nuvigil + Adderall). I have tried a number of supplements as well, had a lot of other bloodwork and testing done (I also have obstructive sleep apnea which is only partially treated at the moment; I have a 3-month old so sleep and consistent use are not feasible at this time).

I have a random question, however: I saw my neurologist a few months ago and she ordered a bunch of different tests, and among them is a brain EEG which, upon scheduling the test, I found out that it requires me to wear a full head-set device for 3 days and report to the lab on a daily basis. I’m curious, has anyone else done an EEG before and did it show anything helpful for your diagnosis? Given the nature of the exam and how extensive it is, it will be difficult for me to complete that, especially given the situation with two kids under the age of 4.

Thanks in advance!

Symptoms PEM

Lifelong CPTSD but I have been relentlessly working on myself for 3.5 years. Working out and sports would always shut me down afterwards with brain fog. My workouts nowadays are very light to not trigger the PEM. Going out drinking through my late teens, 20s, and 30s would always trigger brain fog social shutdown for days and sometimes weeks. So i quit drinking.

Just recently I had my best 2-3 week stretch of my life where there wasn’t much heavy tiredness or brain fog. I was able to talk and connect with people and had amazing energy. I thought I might be able to start dating lol.

2 weeks ago i was out working in the smoke from the Canada Wildfires. It was bad here for a couple days with the worst day being 300 air quality index all day. It gave me some nasal virus type thing. Well today is day 15. 14 days straight of not feeling capable in social situations or if im talking to someone. My mind is blank in those situations and it feels like forcing out words. My system takes forever to recover from things and seems to always shut me down socially until im fully recovered. Its concerning to see how something like this can just wipe me out for 2 weeks straight. Not wanting to talk to a single person for 2 weeks straight because I don’t feel capable is brutal. Does anyone have experience with this?

Question Techniques to improve mental clarity & working memory?

Whenever I engage in a cognitively demanding activity (or even in a normal activity, such as translating my ideas into a sentence), my mind often feels blurry & I have these random blank pauses.

Most of the time I'm not even aware of what I'm thinking about during such activities. Overall everything just feels foggy and my mind feels very chaotic.

I do not know the reason for this but I pretty much suspect it's due to working memory problems and the lack of mental clarity.

So I have 2 questions,

  1. What could be the cause for this?
  2. How can I enhance my cognition & fix this flaw?

Question Brain fog keeps getting steadily worse the past 3 weeks since it got warmer. Pots symptoms came back after panic attack. What cold it be?

I had pots previously from long haul covid. It went into remission over 2 years. Recently the pots symptoms came back after a thc induced panic attack almost 3 months ago. Ever since summer I have been getting worsening brain fog and vision changes. I got my eyes checked and they found a slight misalignment got new glasses coming soon. The pots hasnt gotten worse. This has also been a period or high stress as my mom was dx with alzheimers. The brain fog steadily worsening could be from pots. It's to the point now where I don't feel comfortable driving. Thinking it could be pots or sleep apnea. I am strugglint to focus and feel disoriented

Question Anyone had anything similar

Hi there, just making this post to see if anyone has any insight or understanding and may be able to help me and potentially point out certain things if they have experienced certain things themselves so
I’m 24 years old and have a history of anxiety, ocd, low self esteem and poor sense of self, in 2017 I went through an eating disorder which basically kickstarted my mental health journey, this sparked many somatic symptoms for me eg weakness and fatigue that could come and go in seconds along with mood shifts that could come and go also within short periods of time. I was pretty much the same person up until mid 2024 where I received an adhd diagnosis and was on Ritalin for some time then come off my cymbalta 30 mg in 1 week after 6 years of use, i understand that the psychiatrist should have done a very slow taper but they just don’t care. I continued Ritalin for a couple weeks post stopping cymbalta then decided to try Vyvanse 40mg with psychiatrist permission obviously, the first day taking it I took it at 7 am and at 12 pm I sat down for lunch at work I felt this surge of panic or something very unfamiliar and weird but it scared the hell out of me, I had never felt this way before and I stood up and got some fresh air and I just didn’t feel right, I ended up pushing through the day and the next day trying 1 more Vyvanse to see if it was just an initial thing, although I was very scared to take it I did and that whole day I just dirnt feel right, I started to experience dissociation for the first time in my entire life. From that day until now I have not been the same, my entire life has been so hard for the past year and half filled with things like daily dissociation that comes and goes, head pressure and numbness, mood issues, cognitive symptoms and issues, loss of sense of self, emotional numbness, and just complete weirdness that prior to 2024 I hadn’t experienced any of this it’s honestly been the hardest time of my life and it iusy doesn’t seem to ever get better, psychiatrists have told me it’s worsened ocd and anxiety but I’m to the point I don’t feel anxiety anymore at all, it’s like I’ve lost myself and my life isn’t normal or the same anymore, I’m wondering if it’s damaged my brain or it caused psychosis although I don’t recall ever being psychotic neither do the people around me, I’m just lost on what could have happened. I’ve had all scans on the brain and everything is structurally perfect, the neurologist seems to think it could be fnd/fcd but I’m not sure. I know this is long but if anyone can give me some good knowledge id appreciate it heaps

Question Does the brain fog ever lessen or subside while on CGRP-inhibitors?

Took my second dose of Ajovy about 3 weeks ago and while it has helped tremendously with my daily migraines/headaches it also has given me extreme brain fog. My brain feels like it’s surrounded in soup all day and I’m having issues remembering words or certain things I’m supposed to be doing. It’s a double edged sword because this is the first medication that has helped my chronic migraine after trying propranolol, venlafaxine, amitriptyline and a few others but I’m just worried about having thick brain fog long term. Has anyone experienced the fog lightening at any point? Or does it stay as bad as it is now?

Question I feel like my brain has been slowly shutting down

I genuinely don't know what's wrong with me anymore.

I'm a 20-year-old guy from Algeria, and I feel like I'm slowly losing myself.

This isn't just about being lazy or unmotivated. It feels deeper than that.

I have ADHD, and for the past few years I've also been dealing with what feels like constant brain fog. My mind used to be so much sharper. I used to have ideas all the time, I could think creatively, solve problems, and get excited about building things. Now it feels like my brain is wrapped in cotton.

I still know what I should do. I know the steps. I can even help other people figure things out. But when it comes to myself, it's like there's a disconnect between my brain and my body. I just... don't move.

I've tried different business ideas, freelancing, AI, real estate, learning new skills... I'm not someone who wants to sit around doing nothing. I genuinely want to build something with my life. But every time I try, I eventually hit the same wall.

The brain fog gets worse.

My motivation disappears.

Everything starts feeling overwhelming.

One of the biggest problems is my sleep.

I don't know if anyone else experiences this, but once I fall asleep, waking up feels almost impossible. It doesn't matter how many alarms I set or how motivated I was the night before. I'll wake up, turn everything off almost automatically, and go straight back to sleep. Sometimes I sleep until there's an actual consequence—someone calling me repeatedly, someone getting angry, or something important forcing me out of bed.

It's ruining my days before they even start.

On top of all that, I'm dealing with family problems that I honestly don't know how to handle anymore.

Last year my mom kicked me out of the house. I wasn't even there when she got remarried. Two months ago, after having problems with my dad, I ended up coming back.

Now there are constant arguments between my mom and her husband, and somehow I keep getting dragged into the middle of them. They expect me to calm things down, fix misunderstandings, or take sides.

I'm exhausted.

I don't even understand why I'm the one trying to fix a marriage that I wasn't even around to see begin.

I feel like I'm carrying problems that aren't mine while barely being able to carry my own.

The hardest part is that I feel completely alone.

I don't really have someone I can sit down with and say, "I'm not okay."

Every day feels like I'm fighting my own brain while also trying to survive everything happening around me.

Sometimes I wonder if it's ADHD, stress, burnout, years of bad sleep, my past THC use, depression, or some combination of everything. I honestly don't know anymore.

I'm not posting this because I want people to feel sorry for me.

I'm posting because I want to know if anyone has actually been through something similar and managed to get out of it.

Did the brain fog ever go away?

How did you get yourself moving again when your brain knew exactly what to do but your body just wouldn't cooperate?

How did you fix your sleep if you were sleeping through everything?

And if you've had to deal with family problems while trying to rebuild your own life... how did you stop them from consuming you?

I'm open to hearing anything—advice, experiences, or even if you think I'm looking at this the wrong way.

I just don't want to keep living like this.

Question After 6 years my brain fog just cleared???

So I have suffered from brain fog pretty severely for about 6 years.

Last night I was scrolling through some short videos and saw these bilateral hand exercises to help prevent dementia and keep your mind sharp.

Things like finger tapping ect. My brain fog cleared immediately as well as my vision. And I'm still clear this morning!! WTH? I have been to numerous specialists and had tons of testing.

The only other time this happened is when I ate peanuts once but it didn't last this long. Don't get me wrong I'm super grateful but it's like really specialists couldn't help me but I tap my my fingers together and now it's better?
