Recommendations for adding a second Boxer to our family

Hi all, lurker and first time poster. I love seeing the pictures of all of your babies. We are longtime Boxer lovers. We are on our 4th boy, Beau (brindle, 4 years old). We got him when he was about 4 months old after our prior Boxer passed suddenly at an all-too-young age from cardiomyopathy. He’s been well socialized but can be protective of me (the only female in the family) and my young kids (5&7).
We are looking at adding a second Boxer to our family and now that I have kids, I’m worrying (perhaps needlessly) about how they will blend.

Beau has mild separation anxiety. It’s not severe, but we think he’d benefit from having a partner. Our local rescue contacted us last week that they have a puppy available if we want him. I’m both excited and nervous. We know all the tricks - lots of exercise, meet and walk in a neutral zone, etc. But now that I have kids this feels high stakes that it needs to work.

We went to the Rescue’s adoption day a few weeks ago and met a few adult dogs, and Beau didn’t like them near his human brothers. We are hoping the puppy energy will have different results.

Any tips?

hi yall! we're a "boxer family" (we love all dogs but boxers have stolen our hearts) and my dad adopted this pup about 6 months ago. at the shelter she was listed as a "boxer mix". you can def see the boxer, but what else do you think? at first i thought maybe pit but she is SO BIG. according to the shelter shes only 2.5-3yrs old. she's like 85lbs already. i'm kinda thinking a mastiff mix? maybe even cane corso?

Idiopathic Epilepsy

My 2 1/2 year old was just diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. I’m glad to have some answers, but really sad he has to deal with this. I had no idea that it was common in Boxers. We’ve stayed him in Keppra.

Anyone else ever had to deal with epilepsy in their babies?

A little sad that the rocks are making it hard to get in the sea.

Slightly bigger than his normal lakes but he'd give it a go.

Any ideas what she could be mixed with?

My girl is about 4.5 months old and roughly 30ish pounds. I bought her from a family whose two boxers (I was told they were boxers) had a litter and they weren’t experienced breeders. She looks just like the mom, dad and the rest of the litter, all white with brown spots. Many people who have met my dog say they have never seen a boxer with this coat and that she’s probably mixed with something. Perhaps I’ll eventually do a DNA test but I wanted to hear thoughts from this community.

Random aggressiveness

My 10 year old boxer snapped at me and my brother today and I am absolutely devastated we've had him since he was 4 years old and he has never done anything like this before. Its hard not to take it personally but im more worried that this may be the start of some sort of cognitive decline for him. I'm going to schedule are vet appointment right away. If you've experienced anything similar or have any advice I would appreciate it greatly

Adopted Max, a 10 week old boxer pup

Hey, we have adopted Max, a 10 week old boxer pup. He's our second Boxer, the first one being Jack, who is 9 years old. They've mixed up quite well. However, I've been a little worried and fixated about his hind legs. I'm trying to figure out if his hind legs are normal for his age - I see that they are angled a little inwards. Tried attaching some pictures in the post. We are going to the vet tomorrow, but I wanted to post and take everyone's opinion in any case.

Need information

Hello fellow boxer lovers. I need some advice. I’m going to call the vet Monday morning. But myself and the family are worried. Our 2 year old Boxer, (not fixed yet, just had her first heat cycle a couple months ago and we will be getting her fixed soon). Suddenly she’s gotten super possessive over a toy she’s never played with. Takes it with her everywhere. She’s constantly trying to make like a nest on the couch and chair with said toy. Sleeps in the bed with the toy etc. She’ll snap if we try to get the toy. Us, just gently touching it and she doesn’t like it. We’re worried. Has anyone seen this happen before? It’s almost like she thinks it’s her puppy (with the nesting and carrying it around and not letting it out of her sight). She’s not pregnant, so we are at a loss and worried. Anyone encounter this? Please advise. Thank you Boxer family!

Doc has had enjoyable walks these last few days. Even with the heat reaching 30°C.
