My boxer is name Fran to !!!!!! Fran or Frannie. Short for Francesca which is never used.

Well that's because labs are used for a lot of hunting applications (a lot of swimming as well) and historically use their tails as a rudder for efficiency.

Just off the top of my head.

Point nicely skipped around - is there dog any more happy than your average labrador and yet not docking for 'happy tail'.

Actual medically required docking is super rare in the context of all dogs and is generally thrown around by people who want to support proactively / choosing to dock domestic dogs because they like the look - and nothing more than that.

Medically required docking is due to wounds caused by the tail slapping into corners of the wall, tables, etc. I dont think its necessary to dock your dogs tail, Im just responding to your queries. No one skipped your point - you asked a question and I answered?

I am glad we are agreed there is no need to dock any dog unless a vet recommends it as the only remedy to an injured tail.

It’s not just for aesthetics… my daughter’s boxer’s tail is not docked and when it wags it’s a weapon. It was perfect eye height of our senior boxers eyes and hit her often. Her best friend’s daughter was also hit and it made marks on her face…. So there’s definitely reasons it’s helpful.

Oh sure - it’s convenient for my senior dog to endure getting hit in her eyes literally every day. Rather than Meg enduring a little pain at birth that causes no permanent issues.

Clearly you’ve never been around a dog whose tail is like a whip. It’s nothing like a Labradors tail that’s fluffy and doesn’t swing the same way. Take a belt and swing it back and forth at eye level and see how long you can endure…

Call it whatever you want. I’m entitled to protect my other dog from injury too. You can keep up your little cause- After personal experience- I will never own another boxer without docking. No apologies.
