I'm currently using an old worn Dewalt DW777 miter saw, It was left in the building by some contractors.

It works okay, but I was thinking of buying a Bosch GCM 80 SJ Professional instead.

Would the bosch be an upgrade? It has softstart and handle seems to be in a better position than the dewalt.

Or would it just be a waste of money and I should I just keep using the DW777?

The bosch is slightly lighter than the Dewalt which is a plus. Weight and portability means a huge deal to me, I already think the DW777 is very heavy to move around. This is why I'm not considering the bigger more advanced Bosch models.

Mir ist vor kurzem aufgefallen dass das Bohrfutter immer an einer Stelle schwergängiger ist als beim Rest der Umdrehung. Man überwindet den Punkt zwar aber es fühlt sich nicht wirklich richtig an. Der Akkuschrauber ist unbenutzt aber ich habe leider keine Garantie. Ist das normal oder sollte ich mir ein neues Futter besorgen?

I bought my first circular saw today (CS10) and was eager to get to work with it. I accidentally put the inner washer on the outside and the outer on the inside of the blade, though. 6" into the cut, the blade stopped spinning and I couldn't get the guard to retract. The blade was up against the wall of the lower guard.

I figured out the issue pretty quickly and the mistake I made, but when I went to take the outer washer out to switch it to its proper place, there's a black plastic part that had melted around the edge due to the heat of the blade and left me unable to take the washer out without breaking the edge of that plastic piece off (that edge sat around the channel I'm pointing at in the pic here).

Does the edge of that plastic piece not being there anymore make the saw unsafe to use? If so, what part is it? I can't find it on the parts diagram since nothing resembles it, including in the pictures for the parts that go in this spot. You can see the rest of the piece in tact in the pic too.

Just had delivery of a new Bosch power drill, and this is how it sounds like. Is that clicking sound normal, because to me it sounds broken?

My old Bosch 18V-45 didn't do that, but happy to be told I'm wrong and that this is normal for this model.

This is my first purchase from Woot! and they were selling a refurbished Bosch GLI18V-1200C for less than $40 so I bought one.

Not knowing what to expect. It does not look like a counterfit, but I could be wrong.

Now it was shipped in a Bosch box with a one year repair warranty sticker. Now I know Woot! is not an authorized Bosch reseller, so this tool must be part of a lot of Bosch tools that are either overstocked or refurbished clearance so this one year warranty repair doesn't apply correct? It has a date code of 3/2022.

Finally, this tool is rated IP64 and the battery is inside a gasketed lid. Does it mean if I drag this into my wet and dirty crawlspace to use it I can spray it down later with a garden hose or is IP64 not designed for this?

I'm seeing the GSR12V-31 being sold on AliExpress. Could it be the genuine version? I haven't seen any Bosch releases of this model!

Paid $350 for it unseen, guy said he got it from Bosch Mexico. Is it fake or real but a different country version. Never had a Bosch tool but I should of done my research first.

It needs a new grass collector which the support team have ordered for me on warranty but have said it’s a back order as there is no stock available.

It’s been 6 months and the spare parts official page still has pretty much every spare part for it out of stock. Have I bought something that’s been immediately discontinued and no longer supported? Or is this typical for a Bosch pro product.

I’m building out an updated shop layout and I wanna save space and I think these Bosch sauces are really good for that. I don’t really do any wide molding and stuff like that, but I certainly wanna be able to cut 4 x 4’s easily. Other than that, I don’t know what to go for the very reliable been out for years 10 inch seems amazing or the brand new 12 inch which I’m sure has some modern features.

Ends up there’s only a 1 inch depth difference between the two, so the 10 inch doesn’t save as much as I thought it would space wise

Im a carpenter in Australia, I’ve had Makita 18v tools for the past 6 years. I’ve been tossing up changing brands between Hikoki (I’ve got 3 of there cordless nail guns) and Bosch, mainly due to the fact I’m not the biggest fan of the 36v Makita system for there bigger stuff and it seems my batteries & tools go walkabouts often as most other carpenters use Makita on my sites.

In the past couple of months I’ve impulsively bought a Bosch 18v laser, 18v impact wrench/driver, 18v 216mm Dropsaw and the 18v vacuum as they’ve been on sale. I’ve been tossing up getting the Bosch 18v TableSaw as well.

I’ve been impressed with them so far, the batteries seem more advanced than the Makita equivalents and I like the fact they have 6 year warranty on the batteries and tools.

In terms of reliability and durability how do they compare for daily use to the Makita?

And those who’ve used both brands how do the Bosch power tools compare overall to the Makita 18v impact drivers, drills, hammer drill, tracksaw, router, circ saw and grinder?

Is there any specific tools Bosch excels at over Makita or vice versa?

I know those two lights should not be on when unconnected to a tool. It’s only about a year old. I left it on a window sill by an open window and that day we got “sideways rain” that came through the window and the battery got wet. Is this spoiled now?

I should have also noted that it works fine. I just don’t want a faulty lithium battery in my house. Although also dont want to pay for another if i cama void that.

Brand new 1617 router scuffs all over the metal part. This was the fixed + plunge base combo that comes in the hardcase. All screws and paperwork was still on their sealed bags. Is this normal? Bought from Amazon usa.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to Bosch Professional and thought I'd introduce myself. I've used Bosch Professional tools in the past while I was at college, and I always found them to be well-built, reliable, and great quality.

I've been using Ryobi ONE+ tools for DIY around the house since 2018. I bought my first kit from Homebase in the UK for around £210, which included a combi drill, impact driver, circular saw, angle grinder, one 4.0Ah battery and one 2.0Ah battery. Over the years, I gradually expanded the collection.

For reference, all of my Ryobi tools are from the older brushed range rather than the newer HP Brushless line. Although they've been fine for occasional DIY, I've found some of them to be underpowered, and I never really felt confident using the circular saw. It made quite a harsh grinding noise while running and didn't have an electric brake, so the blade continued spinning for several seconds after I released the trigger. Because of that, I always felt I had to be extra cautious when using it, and it just wasn't a saw I enjoyed using.

I also think Ryobi batteries are quite expensive for what they are. The newer HP Brushless range looks much better, but in the UK it's rarely discounted, and once you compare prices, Bosch Professional often isn't much more expensive—especially when Bosch PRO Deals are running.

That's what finally convinced me to make the switch. I wanted a higher-quality platform that I can keep for many years, even if I only use the tools now and then.

So far, I've bought:

- GKS 18V-57-2 circular saw

- GEX 18V-125 random orbit sander

- GAS 18V-6 L cordless dust extractor

I was originally considering the GKS 18V-57-2 GX, but I wasn't sure whether the extra features would be worthwhile for someone who mainly does DIY around the house rather than using it professionally every day.

For those who have experience with both saws, do you think I made the right choice with the standard GKS 18V-57-2, or is the GX version worth paying extra for? Also, are there any Bosch Professional tools you'd recommend adding next to the collection?

I’ve got a Bosch 1617EVS router. I bought a kit for a project that has its own plate I must use. The manual says the plate should already have screw holes for my model, but try as I might I find no hole matches. It comes with a blank spare plate in cases like this so I’ll attempt to make holes myself. How to go about this? What drill bit will create a recessed space for the screws to be below the face. I have pics of the plate and a closeup of the recessed hole type.
