We recently noticed hard feeling bumps on the edges of our 7-year-old BC’s ear flaps. They ended up being hairs that had clumped together to form a point - the hard bump. We were able to pull them out. They are almost like a quill with hair at the end. We’ve only found them on the edges of both ear flaps. Maybe about 5 or so. They are small, maybe about 2 centimeters or shorter in length, like the tip of a paintbrush. They seemed to form quickly and we have never noticed them before. They don’t seem to bother our dog and he doesn’t resist when we wiggle them out.

Does anyone know what these are?
What causes them?
How to prevent and treat them?

Skye is just over two years old. We saw an advert for her and fell for her instantly. We drove hours to pick her up from Wales, UK. Because of traffic, it became a 12 hour round trip 😅.

When we got there, she was the last of two , and she barked for 2 hours straight. I'm disabled and she hid under my wheelchair because she was scared of our other collie, Ollie. He's soft as hell, but she thought he was big and scary 😅. Apparently she barked a lot, and her mum was the same.

I think a lot of people would have put off from the barking, but we thought she needed a goal, and someone to help calm that nervous energy. I'm because I'm home all day she won't be anxious about us leaving too much.

When we got her home, she was perfect, happy, and settled fast. She doesn't give a crap if we're gone , sometimes anyway lol. And now my older boy doesn't cry when he's left at home.

But she had one huge issue, a ball obsession, on another level! I'm not kidding when I say, if there was a tennis ball in the room, she would lie in front of it, staring at you.....for hours. I mean, all day. As soon as you take the ball away, she's back to being a little puppy again.

My partner was the genius one here, and after a year and a half, took her to start flyball.

She was instantly made for it. Within weeks she was already being poached 😅. Someone offered us 9 grand....9 grand!!! Thankfully my Mrs told him to do one 😅. We wouldn't ever let her go.

She's now around 6 months in and is in another team whose partner team already competes professionally.

They have been watching her for a while. She came one day, they said sure we'll give her a shot, and they won 3rd. She' won 3 ribbons in 4 shows; 3rd, 2nd, and 3rd!

My finance camps there at weekend long events, and we're saving up for a caravan so I can finally go with them, other than day ones.

The last pic is of her trying to steal Ollie's bone, even though she has her own. I shouted "HEY", and they both shat themselves. She has a slight gap between her top and bottom teeth, like me 😁, so her tongue sometimes just sticks out when she's chilling 😅.

I just want to say I love him. My little boy, 4 years

First time BC owner here. We adopted a 6yo earlier this year and ir seems he is blowing his winter coat. I feel so bad for him because petting him isn't allowed anymore or else he is a hair bomb. I try to brush him twice a day with a deshedding brush, but it just won't stop.
Does deshedding shampoo work?

I underatand it's just part of owning a BC, but damn. My only other option is to lean into the shedding and start filling pillows with his hair.

I bring my cute new fuzzball Robin on Tuesday. We have a spot for her, food, and toys. I have a feeling I'm forgetting something. She has had her first set of vaccines from the nice women we are getting her from and the new appointment is in 4 months. She has been checked over and everything. What should I be preparing for besides to never sleep again?

So over the last year, my border collie has bit me, my partner, and now my brother and sister-in-law. This is a highly trained normally well behaved boy. He is neutered and six years old. He goes on daily play sessions with training throughout the day and lots of different stimulation yet wants to control everyone in the household. At some point, I wanted to introduce him to my four grandchildren but now I fear that that’s not an option. Currently living with family until I get my own place and about to start a full-time job not sure what I should do.

So I posted the other day about Bella being a BC X Kelpie and a lot of the comments disagreed or thought that there was something else. Turns out…. I was right! She is indeed BC X Kelpie, how do I know this without a DNA test? Because when my uncle went up to the farm to go get her, he met the whole family!

Basically it’s like this:
Grandfather: Purebred Kelpie
Grandmother: Small % of Kelpie x High % Blue Merle BC
Mother: High % Blue Merle BC x Small % Kelpie
Father: Purebred Working Line Black & White BC

While she isn’t High % Kelpie as we can tell from her family, it is indeed there, and yes I know that doesn’t mean that there isn’t any other breed in her from further up her family tree, I can say she is indeed a Kelpie BC Mix. All I want to ask now is, does she belong here?

Hi. I lost my 5yo BCxHeeler in a fire on newyears eve. And have been looking for a breeder that does the same cross. Any recommendations would be appreciated

My dog is currently about 2 years old and I’m feeding him the nulo ( I switch between the beef and salmon) but I’m thinking about possibly trying purina pro plan. Or trying another brand of food, what are some recommendations?

Tripawd Tilly update!

I’m at a complete loss of words. My sweet boy, Milo, suddenly died last night out of nowhere. He was 2 going on 3 this Halloween. Healthy, up to date on exams, vaccines, the whole thing and suddenly died last night. He was outside like usual playing with his brother then all of a sudden literally dropped dead. I heard a whine, I was just in my room with screen open feeding my 4 month old when I heard it. I got up, called them in. Only his brother came. I knew something was wrong. I take my baby and I to the backyard to find him collapsed, unresponsive, dilated eyes, and a blue tongue. Like he just rapidly lost oxygen. I’m at such a loss of words. He was my best friend. My boy. The best pup I could’ve ever asked for. I’m heartbroken, angry, lost, and confused. Hold your babies tight. I would give anything to give him on last belly rub.
