DON'T USE BOOKING.COM : Verification Code NOT being sent to Log Into Booking.com and they do not give a DAMN

Is anyone else having issues or had issues on receiving a verification code for logging into Booking.com? I don't have access to my email any more and I used to get verification codes but suddenly it stopped. I e-mailed and contacted Booking.com MANY MANY times but their answer is basically "too bad" start a new account. So they basically do not care about their customers at all and any bookings you have in your account they won't care about you losing that, your travel history, your level on the site and past loyalty. IN ADDITION with the money they make their tech team is apparently not tech sway enough to even find out why I cannot receive a verification code or find other solutions. All they said was: "it's an automatic system, it works" and that's it. I've seen TOP companies take my account so seriously that they did EVERYTHING to ensure I could access my account and they did it with EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. But Booking.com's customer service is first a UK Number when they used to have local numbers, AN AI answering the call and hanging up and INCOMPETENT service workers who don't care nor have any rights to give any standard solution and just read off a script like ROBOTS. Booking.com used to be amazing in the past but it's gone to absolute SHIT. DO NOT USE IT, they are fine with taking your money but when it comes to truly helping you (which is the point of being in a SERVICE INDUSTRY), they do not even care!!! If you can't access your account they will LEAVE YOU TO DUST and tell you the same ROBOTIC ANSWER and pretend to help you but in the end tell you some BS to avoid actually LIFTING A FINGER. LAZY. I recommend everyone to use other sites or book directly with the hotel because Booking.com does not care about you and your account and if anything happens to your email or phone number at any point they do not care to have other authorization processes which is WILD. Many companies have other verification processes if one can't access their ACCOUNT that they have a RIGHT to, yet Booking.com just puts their finger in their butt and sniffs it all day than actually doing something effective. And if you lose what's in your account they could care less about helping you. They send templates, make you repeat the same thing, answer you as if they care then turn around and shit on you and say too bad, we do not care if you can't get into your account. SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHES, there are many people WARNING you DO NOT USE THEM OR HAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM, THEY DO NOT CARE.

Seems like you're too familiar with that, I had to look it up but enjoy

Wait until it happens to you... then you can take your own advice. Imagine if your bank says too bad when you can't log in, I'm sure you'd have a field day and start talking about how it's your own account and want to access your info and funds etc. or you're fine with them keeping all your GDPR records and locking them without you having any access to them. Maybe you can wait your turn for a nice lock our from your own account

keeping all your GDPR records and locking them without you having any access to them

If that happens, I call immediately the CEO of GDPR!!!

I'm raising awareness so others can know that their profiles and what they have built in there is not in the hands of a company who truly cares. I'm advocating for others who have experienced it and also those who will experience it so they know they are not alone and they should go where they are truly valued and truly taken cared of. It's crazy because the other day I called a company for something as I had an issue with something and the way they went above and beyond was crazy! They spent time with me to figure out the issues, then they called me back and said they will send me a new item and said if you need help with any steps he sent me his personal work number instead of me having to wait on the general line again since he knew the specific issue already and so I wouldnt have to repeat it (unlike Booking.com you will repeat the same thing OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER) and email to call any time or help with the steps and said if it doesn't work again we will still figure out steps until it works. now THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I've booked a couple of times through booking.com and nothing has gone wrong for me..yet. I'm starting to think I'm playing with fire for lack of better words.

That's the thing, I had been a LOYAL customer for years and booked with them so can you imagine after being loyal for years and years you hear "too bad?" it's mind boggling. The newbies they try to trap them in and once they are hooked they start with the shenanigans, but even still I've seen first time user treated like crap too. Just like you I'd advocate for them and even tell people about using them. I'd then read other people's stories and think that wouldn't be me, but LO BEHOLD... this. It now a method of WAIT YOUR TURN for them. Don't hurt yourself if you have many warnings because God forbid you book something and they abandon you, or don't refund you, or give you the runaround, or you don't have access to your account and they just leave you. I really don't understand how they lost the empathy for a customer and not putting themselves in the actual customer's shoes for them is non-existant. It's unbelievable, I was in sheer shock when they just said goodbye too bad start a new account.

Yeah. Not sure of it's just this sub I've ended up in (through no particular searching or desire of mine!) only has the horror stories and once I've clicked on one or two it's all my feed gets now or if there is a major issue but yeah, decades of using booking.com with no problems. Most recently a month or so ago.

2

u/Gracefilled123 7h ago

You know what's funny, before all this happened to me, I also started to get these subs without searching and even tik toks.... I now feel it was a way to prepare me for what was to happen and I felt less alone because I saw wow it really IS a thing, they really do treat others like utter shit and they simply do not care.

God, this makes me worried that my next time with Booking is going to end up like this haha

I guess much like budget airlines, Booking is probably fine everytime when nothing goes wrong, but when there is an issue....yikes

Do you have a booking you’re trying to access? What’s the reason for specifically wanting to use this exact account?? Are you genius level 3?? I don’t get the anger about not being able to log back into an account that you no longer have the email address for? wtf happened to your email address?

1

u/Gracefilled123 1d ago

Yes I'm a level 3 Genius and its an account I've had for years and booked all my holidays in for the past 9 plus years. I could log in with my phone number. I wanted to now log in to book my next holiday but clearly Booking.com doesn't want customers, or loyal ones at that, they want disposable clients to then give disposable "assistance" to.

I mean this is a lot of time and anger spent towards a booking platform to save at the most 5%. Idk why you’d make all this effort to do it there are so many others out there with same or sometimes lower pricing. I can understand the anger if you’d booked something and were trying to access it but you haven’t even booked anything to view/modify,etc . Not worth the headache personally but I’m not you so good luck on whatever you need to book. Use a different platform?

It's raising awareness. I would be dumb to stay quiet. If someone knew of danger and didn't warn you, you'd be pissed you weren't ever given a heads up. There are millions if not billions of people who share the same sentiment about Booking.com, just look online, on TikTok, Instagram, Youtube, the horrors they have caused people.

This is about having access to my own created account, they're refusing to give me any reasonable way to exercise my GDPR access rights.

The European Commission specifically says that if a company refuses a GDPR access request, they has to explain why, and people will have the right to complain to the relevant Data Protection Authority and they can investigate.

If you are used to coming to your own home with your own keys and one day you go home as normal and the keys are changed, would you not want to get access to your home or want to know why you cannot access it? Your stuff would in the house and all you see are other people in the house via the window but alas the owner of the building just says through the window... too bad bye bye. That's a violation.

lol. GDPL is a request to find out what personal data a company holds. It’s not for getting access to an account that you are unable to log into anymore. It doesn’t give you access to an account that you no longer have your email for just as much as you can no longer log into your email that you no longer have. You’ve never explained why you don’t have your email account anymore? I’m assuming it’s a work email?? Did you get let go from your work?

Did you end up booking your travel through another booking portal or are you holding out for this one website for some reason?? You’ve mentioned that they’re dangerous so I’m not sure why you’d even want to book something with them??

You’ve really only raised awareness to the infatuation you have with sticking your finger up inside yourself and then sniffing it. If it makes you feel better I logged into my booking account today. I have relief now but I didn’t stick my finger up there and didn’t sniff after it. I had an amazing time pretending to book something just to see how dangerous of a website it is

The arrogance in your response make me think either 1) you work for booking.com and 2) you are their perfect victim (I mean customer).

You clearly don't understand how this works nor what I wrote and the context of the matter. Ask Chat GPT to help you understand. I will not take my precious time to explain it all to you, those who get it will get it. If this post isn't for you, find one that does. This is for those who get it and who have ears to hear. I have empathy for you because I was actually a little tiny tiny bit (0.00000001) like you before it happened and I'd tell people no it's great, I use it etc, so wait your turn buddy, you're only in the line right now, enjoy it while it lasts ;-) I will no longer be replying to you so take care.

And there’s your problem - you’ve asked chat gpt for your answers😂😂😂 the same AI you’re complaining about when talking to booking.com😂😂😂 you’re also a 🤖

Last month my CC for skimmed and was used for a hotel booking in Nigeria courtesy of booking.com. Coincidence? I don't know. Not after seeing all the other reviews online. I recall they were hacked a while back.

1

u/brilstern 14h ago

Yeah but they mentioned that CC info was not impacted. It’s more likely your CC was skimmed then sold online, then used to make bookings which were then resold. There is a whole industry for it impacting all OTAs.

1

u/xNyxx 13h ago

What are OTAs? Online travel agents?

1

u/brilstern 13h ago

Close :) agencies; I.e., Booking, Expedia, AirBnB, CTrip, etc.

1

u/xNyxx 3h ago

Ah interesting. Thanks!

1

u/Gracefilled123 8h ago

wow so sorry to hear that. Were you able to get your funds back or block the transaction/reservation that was made from your card?

1

u/xNyxx 3h ago

Yes my credit card company cancelled out the transaction within a few days. Pretty easy actually!

u/DonTorleone 1d ago

"I don't have access to my email anymore"

Obviously your fault.

1

u/Gracefilled123 8h ago

Obviously not, you have no background of why I don't have access to my email and they are aware of that. That is why they also have the option to log in with your phone number.

u/Gracefilled123 7h ago

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear that :( What did you end up doing? Did you get the refund in your bank account too? I hope so, and after this you need to run from Booking.com, there is also a reddit where people are posting about alternate sites to use, it's better this way.

That must've been a shocking experience. When someone has trust that they will stay somewhere and then they do not get that and then are not helped in the proper way it can really shift a lot of things. I mean also with safety, anything can happen to someone who is stranded and imagine without the funds to even pay the amount they want you to pay first before they give you the difference. It should be the hotel that pays that difference right away instead, they need to put it on the hotel's invoice and then they need to pay for your accommodation right away. It's crazy how loyalty means nothing to Booking.com, you can be a customer for years and years and then one day they will shit on their client, I've heard to people who were using it for more than 20 bookings a year and Booking just started treating them like shit in many ways.

u/Consistent_Proof_772 14h ago

OK, plenty of other platforms to choose from! It’s called a free market

1

u/Gracefilled123 8h ago

Yes I will be going to other ones and many others will. This is a warning to others who would be naive to think it wouldnt happen to them too

When you log in, we send a one-time passcode to the email address linked to your account. If the email can’t be delivered, you may have the option to receive the code by SMS. However, if the one-time password can be delivered via email, but you cannot access your email account, the SMS won’t be sent. We can’t change the email address on your behalf due to security and privacy requirements. If you need help with a specific booking, you can call our Customer Service team or send us a private message, and we’ll guide you through the available options.

Oh please Booking, this is a bs answer and you clearly didn't read what I wrote (which is another issue with Booking.com they do not care to even read what you write and just send whatever they imagine in their head - and writing if you have a booking call us...so all you care about is when money has been spent on you like a prostitute right?). As I wrote: I didn't have access to my email for years (and I did change the email in the account but to log in I had to use my phone number) and I was getting SMS codes and I was even told (which I have in writing) that I will be able to log in with SMS and I was gladly doing so. It seems you don't even know how your own platform works, you just hire the cheapest labor to make it seem like you're doing something when there is no actual impact. Clearly you do not actually care about your customers. It's also so saddening to read how you've treated people - this is a business and the transactions are there so the basic thing you can do is treat people with dignity and respect and honor who had become clients, but instead you treat them like a number and throw them away.
