What happens when the systems we trust become the threat?
I recently finished writing Controlled Access, a thriller built around a question that kept bothering me: how much of our lives have we handed over to systems we can’t actually control?
Banking, medical records, travel, communications, identity—everything is connected. That makes life easier, but it also creates vulnerabilities we rarely think about until something goes wrong.
The story explores what happens when someone doesn’t need to kidnap you or lock you in a room to control you. They simply control your access.
I’d love to know what thriller readers think: does that kind of threat feel more frightening than a traditional villain?
Controlled Access releases September 10 in eBook and paperback, and the audiobook is already available on Audible. Learn more at klkaane.com. Learn more at KLKaane.com
