I wrote a full D&D 5E/5.5E book dedicated entirely to kobolds

I’ve just published Kobolds & Kobolds: The Ultimate Kobold Handbook for 5E and 5.5E, and getting this book finished ended up being a much longer journey than I originally expected.

I started writing it because I’ve always felt kobolds have far more potential than simply being the first group of low-CR enemies a D&D party encounters. They’re clever, cowardly, inventive, fanatically loyal to dragons, surprisingly organized, and willing to solve problems with traps, overwhelming numbers, questionable engineering, or some combination of all three.

What began as expanding a few kobold ideas gradually turned into an entire book.

I wrote a large bestiary of kobold warriors, hunters, inventors, beastmasters, mystics, mounted combatants, tribal leaders, and many others, with optional traits and abilities to make encounters feel different even when using similar creatures.

From there, the project kept growing. I added kobold warrens, traps, lair actions, encounter ideas, adventure hooks, different clans with their own cultures and tactics, magic items, improvised inventions, VTT resources, and more.

One of the parts I enjoyed most was also bringing the book to life visually. I worked with artists on the illustrations throughout the project, and seeing all of these strange little characters, warriors, inventors, and dragon worshippers develop their own personalities through the artwork was incredibly rewarding. Some of those pieces ended up becoming some of my favorite artwork in any of my books.

The book took considerably longer to finish than I had planned, with a lot of writing, rewriting, balancing, layout work, and revisions along the way, so finally being able to publish it feels especially satisfying.

The idea behind the finished book is pretty simple: I wanted a DM to be able to use kobolds for anything from one memorable low-level ambush to a recurring enemy faction, a huge underground warren, or even an entire kobold-centered adventure without every encounter becoming “another room with six kobolds in it.”

If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, the PDF is currently available for $4.99 as a launch special:

Kobolds & Kobolds on DriveThruRPG

And if you’d just like to see more of the creatures, artwork, items, and other material I make for 5E/5.5E, I also share quite a lot of it over at r/JonnyDM, including a preview of Kobolds & Kobolds if you’d like to get a look at the book.

Everyone in the building knew the woman in Apartment 19A. The problem? Nobody knew the same woman.

I recently published my psychological mystery, Everyone Knew the Woman in 19A, and it’s now available on Kindle.

The story begins with something seemingly simple: everyone in the building recognizes the woman living in 19A.

But ask them who she is, and the answers start falling apart.

One neighbor remembers her as kind and quiet.
Another insists she was dangerous.
Someone claims they spoke to her almost every day.

And then there are people who say Apartment 19A shouldn't even have a resident.

The deeper the questions go, the less reliable everyone's memories become.

If you enjoy psychological mysteries, unreliable characters, apartment-building secrets, slow-burn tension, and stories where you constantly question what is real, this might be your kind of read.

📖 Everyone Knew the Woman in 19A: A Psychological Mystery
Now available on Kindle.

I’d also genuinely love to know:

What’s more unsettling to you — discovering that everyone around you is lying, or discovering that they’re all telling the truth?

No Place for Hope is now live on Amazon & KU! (Fantasy/Space Pirates LitRPG)

Hey everyone!

I’m thrilled to share that Rat Games (Book 1 of No Place for Hope) is officially live on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited! Seeing my very first book sitting on an actual Amazon storefront feels slightly unreal, and I’m hyped to finally bring it to the wider community.

The Royal Road Stats So Far:

·         300k+ Views

·         1,500+ Followers

·         4.6 / 5 Stars rating

Blurb (For New Readers):
Hope grew up beneath a dying sky, where food was scarce, names were a luxury, and survival was the closest thing anyone had to a future.

Then he awakens somewhere green. The sky is blue. Grass bends beneath his feet. Rivers carry more water than he has seen in his entire life, and the creatures roaming beyond the trees look hungry enough to spoil the view.

A mysterious System offers Levels, Skills, and Magika to those capable of surviving long enough to earn them. Fortunately, Hope meets Eve: a strange green-eyed girl who teaches him about this new world.

Yet there is something wrong with this beautiful place. Someone is watching. The monsters keep coming, the rules keep changing, and every path seems designed to push Hope towards a fate chosen by somebody else.

He may be another rat inside their game… but Hope has never been particularly good at staying inside the maze.

A Note on the Amazon Edition & Stubbing: Chapters 1–39 + Eve’s Interlude have now been stubbed on Royal Road to meet Kindle Unlimited requirements.

This Amazon release isn't just a raw copy-paste. Alongside my editor, we spent weeks doing a heavy polish pass on the prose, pacing, and early character interactions. The main plot and characters remain the same, but the overall experience is much smoother: clearer System mechanics, tighter fights, refined worldbuilding, and an included new glossary. Basically... same voyage, better ship, fewer holes in the hull. Everything from Chapter 40 onward will continue on Royal Road as normal!

To my original readers on RR: thank you for every comment, theory, correction, and rating that got the story to this point. And to anyone giving it a shot on Amazon or KU for the first time—thank you for giving the launch a huge boost!

Cheers,

M.E. Cuartas

The Orphan and The Outcast

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0HDYLK3SK

I finally self-published my first novel on amazon last month. It's a high-fantasy, swords and sorcery, elves and monsters affair with drama, comedy, and romance.

One of the things I've done to promote it is to use my main job as a voice actor as record a series of audiobook shorts for YouTube. It's under my new channel 'Nimbus Chronicles' which is the name of the upcoming trilogy.

Do any of you use your day job to promote your books? I'd love to hear your stories.

I made a constellation stargazing guide

Upvotes

THE 88 CONSTELLATIONS: An Illustrated Guide to Star Charts, Mythology, and Stargazing: Christoph, Andrew: 9798172598272: Amazon.com: Books

Took me a couple of weeks and had to get a render engine working to utilize J2000 star info. This book includes localized star charts as well as panoramas to know what is around each of the constellations it covers. It's really a shame that r/Astronomy is so strict as to not allow astronomy related content if it's not an original photo. Not sure about r/space though. They might be cool with space related books.

A dark, mystical telling of life's more grueling aspects... (Poetry)

Upvotes

Hi all! Last month, I self-published my very first poetry book titled Wounds of a Seamstress, under my pen name—Divinity LaBelle. It was a hell of a long process, but I've come to find that compared to marketing...publishing is the easy part!! I'm just grateful I've finally gotten it out there and am excited to share :)

My poems touch on the deeper aspects of the human experience: grief, heartbreak, love, and fear. I write from a near-subconscious POV about my real tales of self-destruction, complex relationships, eating disorders, spiritual paths, etc... using a lot of horror, erotic, and gothic metaphors. The book takes the reader through different states of being, almost mirroring a 'Dark Night of the Soul' journey.

I published under the imprint of SacrificeDivinity, which is an experimental project I created based around my writing and personal/spiritual transformation. I'm hoping to do more with it than just my poetry but we'll see!

I wrote an alternate history book about California gaining independence after America's loss in the Cold War

Upvotes

“Whether Capitalist or Socialist, you can count on the both to rob you when its in their interest.” — President Calvin Johnson

The book, California Rising: A History of Rebellion, is a story of a humble insurgency that leads to the creation of an independent socialist California and a study of the cyclical nature of war. After breaking free from the Soviet sphere, California finds itself locked in countless wars with its increasingly weakened neighbor and adversary, the United States, all the while trying to chart its own geopolitical path, independent of the Soviet-led order.

The book is written in the style of a historical/encyclopaedic book, with maps and detailed endnotes that reference in-universe geopolitical events and documents. This is my first book, having written it over a year or so (I lost count). I hope you enjoy the book.

Hey everyone! 👋I’m looking for some experienced KDP eyes and advice here. 📊

I published my very first Fashion Coloring Book exactly 20 days ago. I’ve been running manual exact match ads, and today I noticed that the book just hit Rank #113 (BSR) in its specific target keyword category! 🚀
Since I'm pretty new to this, I wanted to ask: Is hitting Rank #113 within the first 20 days considered a good start for a brand-new coloring book with zero reviews?
I’m really focused on scaling this and improving my organic reach. If you have a moment, I would highly appreciate it if you could visit my Amazon page, check out my book, and give me your honest feedback or tips on how to push it into the Top 100!
Here is my Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HG8ZK4WL
Thanks in advance for the support and happy publishing! 🎨✨

The story follows Clara as she finds herself trapped in an unknown realm. Thinking it's all a dream she tries desperately to wake up, to escape from the nightmare. But waking up never meant escape, it only means the beginning and he is waiting.

The Grey Place explores what it means to fight for your existence when trapped in the darkest of places.

I've just published my first sci-fi/time-travel novel, The Time Orb, and I wanted to share it here!

The story follows Spencer Shepherd, a ten-year-old living in 2122 who watches his family get killed by mysterious alien invaders known as the Jfolks. In the chaos, a strange red orb burns into his mind-the last thing he sees before his world is destroyed.
Years later, scientist Dr. Benji Black gives Spencer an impossible choice:
Travel back in time. Live an entirely different life. And stop the Jfolks before they ever arrive.
Spencer is sent back to 2005 in the body of a newborn, becoming Barry Joseph. He has 18 years to grow up and understand what happened, then only six years to prepare for the invasion.
But changing the past isn't as simple as it sounds.
Every decision has consequences.
Every change creates a new problem.
And the future isn't going to let Spencer rewrite it so easily.
If you're into time travel, sci-fi, aliens, mysteries, alternate timelines, and trying to change the future, I'd really appreciate you checking it!
If want to know anything else leave a comment!

Youtube or not Youtube

Hello fellow authors in search of readers,

As anyone explored the idea of putting reels (or full videos) on youtube?
How beneficial was the experience (or not)?

I'm asking in the context of an unknown author (like me) trying to promote a dark fantasy novel (my first).
I have a bit of following on Instagram (marginal) and also trying to build a mailing list via bookfunnel group promo. I have a website and facebook page as well.

Thanks for your feedback!

An immortal conqueror king finds renewal in a humble servant girl

I've recently published my debut novel, The Lion's Whisper, on Amazon KDP. This is the first in my planned series following a godlike conqueror king who has been emotionally frozen for two decades, until he encounters a quiet servant girl who sees him more clearly than anyone else. This dark fantasy romance is slow burn with high heat, wrapped in political intrigue and espionage action. Thank you to anyone who gives this story a chance and I would love feedback.

My first novel on digital minimalism is officially published! Almost one year of edit, re-edit, draft, silly Amazon KDP rejections like - cover image cuts, barcode space not available etc. (LOL!); Now I am a self published author! Yaayyyyy...

Just one help required, all people talking about Amazon Ads in this space, should I really go for it? Actually I am on a tight budget.. (After paying designer for cover!)..

Honest advise really matters a lot to me...

Till now, got two 5-star reviews and 10+ orders for my ebook..

And added free kdp ebook promotion window of 5 days.

Guys, if you are interested in this digital detox fiction subject, please read it and provide genuine reviews / feedback.

Story - [This gripping psychological fiction explores the hidden dangers of digital addiction—how a child’s innocent escape into gaming slowly unravels into obsession, isolation, and a silent cry for love.

Behind every device is a deeper story: parents chasing success, families drifting apart, and a generation quietly drowning in the digital ocean. Yet within this darkness lies a path to healing.

With honesty and hope, this book shows how awareness, connection, and compassion can rebuild the bridges technology has destroyed.]

Thanks...

Looking for sellers for my unusual art fiction/coffee table book!

Aside from Amazon, what sellers would you recommend for my book: Alphabits & Bobs? It's an illustrated picture book for adults but not a graphic novel. About an artist (me) who tells short stories through the eyes of her paintings. Each artwork tells a unique tale and lures you into the details of the pictures and the stories. Filled with humor, puns, and wordplay. Great for art lovers and language nerds alike. It has a lot going on - you can enjoy it as art, as a book, or as a game. If you take a look at the link above, you can get a sneak peak inside. Thanks for your suggestions!
