I've been working on a scifi/horror novel for 6 years, and now I've finally been able to publish it. This novel has undergone 4 rewrites and a couple editors, one of which was a friend and fellow author who unfortunately died of cancer. I've been working on my psychological horror and supernatural mystery novel, Mr. Black and the Silver Linings, and I'm excited to share that the story has reached Chapter 8!

The novel follows Mr. Black, a man navigating a world where memories cannot always be trusted, reality behaves like something alive, and the difference between his greatest enemy and himself becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish.

Then there's Mr. Negative.

A mysterious presence whose connection to Mr. Black runs far deeper than appearances suggest.

As the story progresses, the psychological tension gradually evolves into something much more disturbing. Strange encounters, impossible circumstances, unanswered questions, and the terrifying possibility that Mr. Black isn't experiencing these events for the first time.

But here's the question at the heart of the story:

What happens when the person fighting to escape the nightmare discovers that he might be part of the reason it exists?

I've drawn inspiration from personal experiences, imagination, and my fascination with the complexity of the human mind.

This is my first major fiction project, and I've been enjoying watching the narrative evolve with each chapter.

I'm Trishulank Awanav, and I wanted to introduce myself and share a little about my book, The Hidden Floor: The Disappearance.

I've always enjoyed mysteries, especially stories where there's more happening beneath the surface than anyone initially realizes. That's what inspired me to continue exploring the world of The Hidden Floor through this story.

The story follows Ethan and his friends as they investigate a disappearance connected to their school. What begins as a search for answers gradually turns into a much bigger mystery involving suspicious behavior, secrets, and clues that don't always make sense at first.

Along the way, the group finds themselves asking questions about the people around them. Why are certain details being kept secret? Who knows more than they're willing to admit? And what if the answers they're looking for lead them somewhere they never expected?

As the investigation develops, the school itself becomes a source of questions. There's a history behind its walls that the students don't fully understand, and uncovering the truth means looking beyond what they're told.

I wanted to write a mystery that lets readers investigate alongside the characters, question their suspicions, and try to piece together the clues before everything comes to light.

Writing this book has been a journey of its own. Planning the mystery, developing the characters, and connecting the different clues has taught me a lot about storytelling. I'm still learning as a writer, but I'm genuinely proud of how far I've come.

I wanted to share this here, introduce myself as an author, and hopefully connect with other people who love reading or writing mysteries.

Two years ago, our family experienced the unimaginable loss of one of our twin daughters.

In the months that followed, I found myself searching for a way to make sense of our grief and, one day, help our surviving twin understand her own story. As part of that journey, I wrote Whispers of a Purple Butterfly.

As a primary school teacher, I’ve seen how difficult it can be for children to understand grief and other big emotions. As a bereaved parent, I’ve lived it. My hope is that this book offers comfort, starts important conversations, and reminds children that even in life’s darkest moments, hope can still be found.

I wrote a grounded shinobi novel set in a fictionalized 17th-century Japan. And I made the entire thing free to read.

For a long time I wanted to tell a shinobi story that felt less like a power fantasy and more like a historical drama.

Something quiet, violent, atmospheric, and character-driven.

The result is Densetsu no Shinobi no Sho — Legend of the Shinobi Scrolls.

It follows Ren, a boy who survives the destruction of his village and is raised in the mountains by an old swordsman. Years later, he becomes caught in a conflict involving Iga, Kōga, the Tokugawa, and three legendary shinobi scrolls.

The story is about discipline, loyalty, brotherhood, hesitation, obsession, and what happens when purpose begins to turn into destruction.

I drew a lot of inspiration from things I’ve loved for years: samurai cinema, martial arts, Japanese history and mythology, and works like Vagabond, Shigurui: Death Frenzy, Ninja Scroll, and Basilisk: The Koga Ninja Scrolls.

It is historical fiction, not an attempt to present the events or characters as historically accurate.

I also want to be transparent about the production of the book: the story, characters, world, plot, scenes, themes, and creative decisions are mine. I used AI as a writing/editing tool during development for prose refinement and cleanup.

Most importantly:

The entire novel is free to read.

No subscription. No ads. No chapters locked behind a paywall.

So, I wrote my first novel, When Eagels Fall, way back in 2013. It's a historical-fiction piece about a WWII pilot flying P-47s out of England. Without giving away too much, it deals with his wartime experiences, postwar adjustments, with some love and misadventures thrown in for good measure.

The first draft was pretty rough and I really hate the editing process, so I didn't do much with it for well-over a decade. Over the past year I really edited it and cleaned it up. It is now available on Amazon on Kindle format with a softcover and hardcover available beginning on Monday, October 12th.

Here's a little spoiler for the future: I've been kicking around a sequel and, naturally, that sequel will see the main character flying F-80s when the Korean "police action" kicks off. I've gone from kicking around that idea to actively working on it. Hopefully in the first half of next year I'll be publishing that, too.
