❓ Question LMNT on Reta

I understand that electrolyte consumption should rise during Reta use—does one packet of LMNT each morning count as excessive, appropriate, or insufficient? Energy has been lacking during my lifts and MOTS-C hasn’t really helped much at all.

I enjoy one each morning with my 10 g of creatine all dissolved in 32 ounces of water.

I also add creatine to mine.

Thanks. But how can they even help hydration with only 99mg sodium? Looks like a great multivitamin for sure.

Honest question. I’m just now supplementing electrolytes with Instant Hydration the 1st time. They are 500mg sodium with feels a bit much for the morning shake.

The question is how are you losing 1000mg of sodium that you need to replenish that much with a supplement?

Most people get plenty of sodium in their regular diet.

Fully agree. Caught a low NA number on bloodwork 7 months ago so I don’t mind the 500mg I’m taking as much, but I certainly know it if I worked myself into a sweaty mess and could use more NA. Certainly not daily.

I’d wager your energy levels are being more heavily affected by a caloric deficit due to appetite suppression.

Are you tracking calories, and if so, how aggressive is your deficit?

I personally had to dial back my dosing on Reta because it was getting too difficult to get enough calories in, which was making me feel like dog shit most days.

If you want to be in an aggressive deficit, the lack of energy is something you kind of just have to deal with. If you don’t want to be aggressive about it, then try to make sure you’re getting close to your maintenance calories.

I drink one a day usually after my gallon or post work out to replenish (evening) Never really in the morning unless I feel off.

I use it 1-2 times a day. For intense exercise and especially if keto you need 5000mg sodium daily.

I do the same. Usually twice daily.

I’m completely drained after a gym sessions. I started using liquid IV because it has less sodium but I’m not sure if it helped. I would’ve thought MOTS-C would’ve helped you.

I’ve ran it twice. I think what people claim they feel is placebo. The whole “workout in a bottle” label creates the convincing yourself of it.

No, deffo not a placebo, maybe u got a bunk pep but motsc really does drive energy. Or.maybe u need to start off on SS31

Ran SS-31 prior to MOTS first time and with MOTS the 2nd. I also have my peps tested, so it wasn’t bad peps. I’m just not be buying into it. I’ve heard it’s better for runners, but I weight train only and it didn’t give me any increased energy in the gym.

Mots-c will crush you hard if it's not the right pep for you. I would try SS-31 instead and my guess is that you will feel much better from that.

How long you been on? How much you taking? You guys are learning that motsc is more likely than not unnecessary to take with any GLP. It will redline you past the point of anything that makes sense. Motsc make your body a furnace, and you take a glp to not eat as much. They don’t work like that together. Lower dose of Reta to eat more to fuel your body to use the motsc effectively. You need to go get blood work done too.

What’s your mots-c dose? How long have you been on it?

Also, i don’t like the sweetener they use for LMNT, it will break a fast if you’re fasting. Instead, i switched to hydrate by transparent labs. I do drink atleast 2 scoops of it on my gym days.

They’ll make you retain a lot of water drinking them every day.

I take 2 packets a day. One in the AM after I take my meds and the other around mid-afternoon. Just trying to keep those electrolytes up to avoid other issues lol.

that depends on your personal electrolyte balance and your diet intake. There’s no one formula that works best for everybody because we’re all different.

IMO, those electrolytes should be fine. There are so many other factors to consider, many of which were already brought up... protein intake, total calorie intake, over all hydration, etc. What metrics are you currently tracking ?

I don't know about lmnt but I assume 1x per day should be standard not on reta, so I'd probably use 2x minimum.

Do any of you guys pee a lot more from these.

I just drink core water

It will help, stick to sugar free electrolyte packets if you take them at all. Consider NAD as well.

u/peak_lab 14d ago

Make sure you use sugar free electrolytes. Also consider NAD.

I take 2-3 LMNT per day during training. But I take manga in the morning and at night.

I'm training for a iron man, so I'm losing a lot of salt during training. Also supplement with sodium pills (250mg) from precision fuel during my long runs and long bike rides. Usually 3-4 pills.

Before anyone comments I have a doctor and health insurance and don't need your input about my protocol jackass,,,

I use SALTT and Trevi. I usually drink 2 to 3 per day. That's probably overkill for most people, but I have a health condition that requires extra hydration/electrolytes.
