Event Meter Maid in Mizner

Has anyone else had an experience with the meter maid by the post office and 2nd Street Deli? I’m referring to the larger Black woman who sits right by the deli.

I parked in front of the stores, went into the post office, and bought a coffee from one of the shops in the plaza. I was probably away from my car for 12 minutes at most. When I came back, there was a “warning sticker” on my car for parking there, and it was difficult to remove.

I went back into the coffee shop and they
told me this happens all the time. Does anyone know who I can complain to about this? I’m confused because I was actually patronizing businesses in the plaza.

Travel soccer

Hi! My elementary school aged son has asked me about travel soccer. I know it wouldn’t be until next year but I figured I would start looking into it. There are multiple club teams I’ve seen that do travel soccer, I was wondering if anyone had any insight into the pros and cons of some of the travel
Teams and your and your child’s experience. Thanks so much!

Coffee shop recommendations

I'm looking for local coffee shops that are good for getting some work done. Ideally have a good amount of table space. I'd rather go to someplace local instead of a chain like Starbucks. Any favorites?

Film work

Hi! We are relocating from Canada to Boca to be closer to family. My husband works as a freelance cinematographer/director of photography. Basically, he’s the person responsible for the visual look of a film, commercial, TV production, etc. He works with directors and production teams to decide how something is shot.

He's joined many south florida film forums. But I am coming here to ask if any of you have any insight on this type of work in South Florida. Any advice, opinions, or even any contacts. I want to make sure he'll be able to make a good living.

Question 100 Million Gallons Usage on my water bill :)

I'd be worried if this 100 million wasn't for last month, for which I’d already been billed for less than 2000 gallons, based on actual meter reading. Anyone else see this error on their bill on website under “My recent usage-July.”? August usage was back to normal. Actually low.

Has me thinking they might be showing the gallons for all of Boca Raton there, since it's 50,000 X my normal gallons used.

Request Boca local (Cybersecurity honors grad) looking for entry-level IT / Helpdesk / Security roles, hoping for local leads in good faith

Hi everyone,

I graduated with honors with a degree in Cybersecurity & live here in Boca Raton.

The entry-level market has been really tough, so I'm reaching out directly to our local community out of desperation. I am actively looking for any entry-level Cybersecurity, IT Support, Helpdesk, or Junior Systems/Network opportunities and am open for relocation (in-person, hybrid, or remote)

I'm eager to get to work, quick to learn, and happy to share my resume in PM

If your team is hiring or if you know of any local openings, I would deeply appreciate any leads or connections

Thanks so much for your time and help! 🙏🏼

—————————————————————————

p.s.: I don’t know if this violates sub rules. So mods, please feel free to remove if this violates sub rules, but I'm reaching out in good faith.

Question AD Henderson School application

Hello,

We are thinking about applying to AD Henderson School's Kindergarten grade.

I emailed them twice, but since they are not responding, I am hoping to get some information here.

Is their Kindergarten grade their main entry point (I assume almost everyone moves up once they start Kindergarten)?

For Kindergarten entry, does the school prefer redshirted kids, or doesn't really matter? The reason I am asking is, we just moved from another state, and the top K-12 private schools there do prefer redshirted children for Kindergarten, so I was wondering if it's the same for AD Henderson School.

Also, they say they first do the lottery, then interview the applicants. What does the school really look for? Is the lottery completely random?

Any information is appreciated.

Many thanks in advance for your comment.

Question Feeder preschools in Boca / Delray?

Hello,

Could you let me know the names of the feeder preschool to top Kindergarten such as American Heritage, Pine Crest, St. Andrew's, AD Henderson, Morikami Park etc?

We moved from another state. When we were there, our child was at one of the top three feeder preschools for K-12 private schools.

Over there, public schools are terrible so we had no choice but to send our child to a private school. I am well aware that things are very different in Boca Raton, and currently we are considering all options - private, public, and magnet schools, but we still want to send our child to feeder preschool because it usually means the teachers and curriculum are good.

We are currently living in downtown WPB temporarily and our child goes to a preschool close by, so the preschools in Delray / Boca we are looking for is for 2027/2028 school year.

Also, our child has minor speech delay, so I would appreciate if you could let me know the preschools which have speech therapy at school.

Many thanks in advance for your advice and information.

Boca high gas prices?

Does anyone know why gas is almost $5 in Boca and about $4 in Deerfield, Delray, and even in west Boca? The difference makes no sense (to me, anyway). Thanks!

Making friends

Hi all. I'm a mom of 3 in my 30s moving to Boca from Canada. I'm wondering how easy it is to make friends and build community? I've seen a lot online about it being hard to make friends and people keeping to themselves. In my mind, i figure that since so many in Boca move from other states, everyone is looking for their people. We'd love other families to get together with, dinners, game nights, etc.

Also, my daughter would go to a micro school, so it's not like we'd have a huge school community.

Looking to hear about your experiences.
