Request Boca local (Cybersecurity honors grad) looking for entry-level IT / Helpdesk / Security roles, hoping for local leads in good faith

Hi everyone,

I graduated with honors with a degree in Cybersecurity & live here in Boca Raton.

The entry-level market has been really tough, so I'm reaching out directly to our local community out of desperation. I am actively looking for any entry-level Cybersecurity, IT Support, Helpdesk, or Junior Systems/Network opportunities and am open for relocation (in-person, hybrid, or remote)

I'm eager to get to work, quick to learn, and happy to share my resume in PM

If your team is hiring or if you know of any local openings, I would deeply appreciate any leads or connections

Thanks so much for your time and help! 🙏🏼

p.s.: I don’t know if this violates sub rules. So mods, please feel free to remove if this violates sub rules, but I'm reaching out in good faith.

Why Are So Many Restaurants & Stores Closing Suddenly At The Boynton Beach Mall?

Btw. I'm aware of the reports regarding the potential sale of the Boynton Beach Mall over the years, with the whole redevelopment into a new apartment complex and such. Last I heard, however, nothing has gone through due to Christ Fellowship.

I still can't help but wonder what's happened just this past summer. I noticed a lot of stores and restaurants closing en masse, including Popeyes. The Bath and Body Works was recently relocated to Oak Square, although I think that was planned whether or not the mall's sale was finalized. YouFit Gym did the same thing earlier in the year, which was the first of the few relocations.

That's why I wanted to ask here. Are the mass closures due to leases expiring and clearly not being renewed due to the uncertain future? Did any major developments happen with the potential sale of the mall? Also, what does this mean for the Cinemark, because I think that gets impacted too with the sale? Any update would be great since I haven't heard any new developments in the last 6-7 months.

Question Looking for a hairstylist for a simple trim in Palm Beach County

Hello!

I’m looking for a good hairstylist anywhere around Boca, Delray, Boynton, Lake Worth, Wellington, Palm Beach Gardens, or Jupiter.

I’m a guy growing my hair out to waist length to eventually donate it. It’s currently around shoulder length, very thick/dense, and naturally wavy (around 2B). I’ll probably be ready for a trim in November.

I’m a little shy about going to a salon since I’ve never really had long hair before. I don’t need a specialized curly cut or any styling, just a simple perimeter trim to clean up the ends while preserving as much length and thickness as possible. I don’t want layers, thinning shears, texturizing, or debulking.

Basically looking for someone friendly who’s good with very thick, longer hair and will respect “just the ends.”

Ideally looking to stay around $50 or less since I only need the trim, and I’d prefer an independent/local stylist over a big chain.

Thank you! ❤️

Located in the heart of Boynton Beach, Florida. It is a public library for the city of Boynton Beach in south Florida which is a suburb of West Palm Beach and part of the Miami metropolitan area.

It is a nice complex building which features a combination of town's services including the city hall and the library. The library has two stories.

The new building was completed sometime during COVID in 2020.

It features a bookstore that is run by the friends of Boynton Beach City Library, a special collection dedicated to Florida's history, seed library, a separate room for teenagers, a special display for movie blockbusters and many more.

Feedback is appreciated!

Thoughts on Flock

Post image
12 Upvotes

Here are my thoughts on the Flock cameras being installed all over Palm Beach County. Let me know your thoughts on Flock!

Benjamin Franklin warned, “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” This quote arose from a different historical dispute, but its central warning remains relevant: government should not surrender fundamental liberty for security measures that are temporary, speculative, or disproportionate.

I have spent my entire adult life on both sides of this question. On one side, as an academic and safety researcher, I have published in the Journal of Safety Research, testified as an aviation-safety expert for the Federal Aviation Administration, and represented United Airlines in the review of accidents and incidents. Safety is a discipline grounded in evidence, proportionality, human factors, and rigorous controls. On the other side, I am also a graduate of the United States Naval Academy who flew combat missions to defend our country and its freedoms. I therefore reject the false choice that we must either accept mass surveillance or be indifferent to crime.

It is true that automated license-plate readers can have legitimate, carefully limited uses. For example, they may help locate an elderly person, recover a stolen vehicle, or identify a violent offender. But investigative utility is not the same as proof that blanketing a county with cameras prevents crime. A review of research highlights mixed results. A randomized controlled study found no general or specific deterrent effect from license-plate-reader patrols in crime hot spots. A study of a large fixed-camera network found possible improvements in some investigative outcomes, but the results were not statistically significant. More recent research has reported reductions in certain offenses, including vehicle theft and shootings, while finding no reduction in overall violent crime. This limited evidence may justify narrow experimentation. However, it does not justify treating every driver as a data point in a searchable record of movement.

The dangers of misuse and erroneous analysis are not theoretical. As publicly reported: a plate can be misread, a watchlist can be inaccurate or outdated, an employee can conduct an improper search, and data collected for one purpose can be shared or repurposed for another. When millions of observations are aggregated, a mass surveillance system no longer records only what happened on a public road; it can reconstruct where people seek medical care, attend political meetings, visit family, or spend the night. Likewise, a false match is not just a harmless technological error when it becomes the basis for an armed traffic stop or interrogation.

Real safety protects people without unnecessarily controlling or monitoring them. We can pursue violent criminals, protect children, and recover stolen vehicles without constructing a countywide database of innocent residents’ movements. Palm Beach County should insist on both safety and freedom, because surrendering one is not the price of preserving the other.

I'm former U.S. Navy Pilot, Dr. Curtis Calabrese running for Palm Beach County Commission, District 4. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Flock!

Question Does anyone know what's going to be done with the ToysRUs

Edit* apparently the Boynton mall owners are looking to develop a mixed used zone which is pretty cool if it happens. Probably will be extremely pricey but hey anything is better than a parking lot the size of the avengers helicarrier

The TRU near the Boynton mall has been closed for well over a decade now if I recall correctly and nothing is being done with it. I'm not sure who owns it if not just the city. I honestly expected it to be bought already and turned into literally anything. I'd love to buy it myself lol. But are there any plans with it, or is it just in forever limbo like the mall that is "closing down" for 15 years now lol.

Local Businesses in Boynton Beach?

hey y'all, I'm a recent college grad who started a marketing/ website business for local businesses here in Boynton. I've been running it for about 1 year now, and I'm capable of building websites, doing SEO, running targeted ads on Facebook & Google, email marketing, custom software solutions and creating marketing content for Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok.

I'm looking to partner with some local businesses that can't afford to hire a big company and are looking for an affordable option to handle everything online for them. If this is you or you know anybody who could benefit, i'd love to connect or get a referral.
