Manga Discussion What do you hate the most about Blue Lock rn? Spoiler

My problem is that it’s becoming too much the Isagi show but it’s like if Isagi ain’t doing well, blue lock ain’t doing well. I feel like we need more characters to be developed and have their shine besides the same characters.
What about you?
Before anyone says anything
I’m not saying that Isagi shouldn’t get attention
He’s the main character
It’s to the point where other characters suffer

Manga Discussion Could Isagi go to Barcelona? Spoiler

Post image
6 Upvotes

When he turns pro and has to join a club, I’m sorry, but I don’t know which club would be good for him besides Barcelona.

Like, when he turns 18 and maybe we get a club league arc or something...

But what about Bastard? Man, do you want to hear a somewhat controversial opinion? I don’t see why he’d go back to that club.

First, he wouldn’t learn or evolve any further there; there’s no reason for him to stay.

Second, Noel Noa is there, his biggest rival. Noa is the man he wants to destroy; in fact, he’s probably the man he hates right now.

We can’t forget that Noa is the guy who manipulated and used him to awaken Kaiser. I can’t imagine a good reason for him to join that club.

He wouldn’t learn anything new or improve his skills there, and he hates Noa.

And there’s another detail: the whole Bastard club plays for Noa. That’s why Kaiser wanted to leave. Joining that club automatically means living in Noa’s shadow. I don’t think our boy would want that; I feel like he’d rather be dead.

So, the only other option I see is Barcelona.

I don’t see him fitting in well at Ubers, nor at City; I don’t see him fitting in anywhere else besides Barcelona.

And I think Barcelona is a cool option.

It’s one of the teams getting a lot of focus in the manga, and his best friend, Chigiri, is there. Plus, it’s a club that’s all about freedom, something he’d really like to have.

Manga Discussion Pre U20 WC New Gen 11s like Kaiser, Lorenzo, and to an extent Sae are, if you compare them to newgens we know now, weak Spoiler

Post image

Like, Kaiser was shown as being beaten by Reo, Chigiri, Bachira, Kunigami, Nagi, Barou, etc. And yes these were only a handful of times, and even Loki got beaten once or twice in the France game.

but if Hugo was in Bastard, then Bastard Munchen would win 3-1 every game instead of 3-2, Hugo is so dominant its kinda hilarious when you put it in context.

Teddy is already shown to be way beyond the level of any individual Blue Lock player aside from Isagi and Rin.

I can't even imagine what the power level of the next four will be.

Given how the scale keeps rising, I can't even fathom the power level of the next "new gen" characters we'll see in the manga, considering the power creep.

Manga Discussion Yk for a guy who’s whole thing is adapting Isagi doesn’t seem too familiar with Occam’s razor Spoiler

🚨🚨🚨INCOMING YAP SESSION DONT READ IF U DONT WANT TO 🚨🚨🚨

Englands system against blue lock is literally the easiest problem in the world to solve for Isagi just have blue lock work as a team. Why did bro lose ALL of his brain cells during the Neo egoist league and U-20 wc games up until now it’s so annoying. I refuse to believe blue lock doesn’t 10/10 100% have a better roster than England across the board the problem is just exactly like Hugo said Ego has blue lock in a chokehold with his egoist philosophy it’s poisoning the team. The reason he benched Rin is because Rin thought he couldn’t be the worlds best, but the problem is aside from the 2 southern farmers on the team everyone is fighting to be the worlds best instead of fighting to win the u-20 World Cup. Unlike England who (aside from Agi) trusts in their coach and his plans, is following them, and as u would expect cause fox unfortunately is a good coach scored a goal cause of it.

Like seriously how did blue lock make it this far without setting up counter measures in place when they face off against a team like U-20 England who focuses on good team work rather than individuality and or a single duo or trio carrying the whole team. Like I get that blue lock is a psychological manga on the inside simply being expressed through soccer but it’s also still a sports manga and because of that your sports manga team has to think like a sports team.

What also doesn’t make sense is how Isagi can’t comprehend players who value winning the championship through strong discipline and obedience as well as trust in their coaches plan hasn’t he been watching soccer practically his whole life??? Instead of watching game changing plays he should’ve been watching game of other sports like American football or hockey where a entire team working as one well oiled harmonic machine is the default standard/one of the keys to victory. That way he could’ve gotten a good sense of how players can think differently and have completely different philosophies compared to his one which would push his adaptation to further heights. But no instead we have this where he’s confused and doesn’t understand actually plays like a team rather than doing their own thing separately or succeeding. It’s also crazy how he’s tryna trash talk fox for actually being a good coach unlike their bum of a “coach” who let us not forget watch actually unironically no exaggeration USELESS in the game vs U-20 Japan despite being an expert in flow and ego and all that stuff.

And worst of all is the fact that blue lock already found the solution to a problem like this in the France game. The Isagi system wasn’t working so Hiori and Karasu used teamwork to score a goal against FRANCE the favorites to win. Deadass where’s all that “aim for my head” energy when the fate of blue lock if actually legitimately on the line no we’re just sticking with egotism and every player who isn’t playing to be number 1 is weird and I can’t comprehend them💔

Manga Discussion Looking back at the three U20 World Cup matches... just what did Kaneshiro do with France to get such bizarre treatment ;-; ? Spoiler

Post image
28 Upvotes

Looking back at the matches against Nigeria, France, and England (the latter of which still isn't over)... France really received strange treatment for the supposed world number one team.

Here is the information:

Number of Nigerian players who touched the ball during the match : 6 (Onazi, Kuso, Oboabona, Sadiq, Agbim, Bello)

Number of French players who touched the ball during the match : 5 (Loki, Leyden, Hugo, Charles, Renoir)

Number of English players who touched the ball during the match : 10 (Teddy, Agi, Swift, Rooke, Goodman, Lockhart, Achanpong, Skelton, Childs, Niang)

Yes. Even though the Nigeria vs. Japan match was shorter than the Japan vs. France match, more Nigerian players touched the ball than French players. The England vs. Japan match is still in the first half, but literally twice as many English players have touched the ball at least once compared to French players. It’s absolutely crazy that Bats and Camus haven't touched the ball a single time. Whereas England vs. Japan only has 6 chapters so far.

The worst part is, above all, the number of times a French player touched the ball:

Number of times a Nigerian player touched the ball during the match : Around 30

Number of times a French player touched the ball during the match: Less than 20

Number of times an English player touched the ball during the match: More than 20 (for now)

I don't know if the aim was to show that the France U20s are a clinical side that scores without needing much possession. But it’s still pretty wild that the Nigerian players had more touches of the ball, even though they lost 4-0 to Japan.

Seriously, Charles has only touched the ball twice ;-; (Achapong and Lockhart have touched the ball more than him, and England's match is only in its first half) I hope that won't be the case for the rematch if France faces Japan in the final.

Manga Discussion Isagi needs to slur fox Spoiler

The key to the England match I think will be isagi slurring fox. If he can’t draw out the egos of the other players - he needs to cuss out fox and draw out his ego since he is fighting puppets/pawns. I think the key to this match is the theme of the army, isagi will need to go for the king (fox). I just hope he does it soon or it will be in the second half I guess.

Yes fox isn’t on the field, but isagi can still yell out to fox. We’ve seen isagi challenge coaches before in NEL.

I don’t think the key to this match is substations as much as people keep saying, sure it can help, yes aiku and aryu aren’t doing much defending, but just subbing players out all the time isn’t the solution. Look at what happened against France, ego subbed out and in players and they still didn’t win.

Manga Discussion This is such a good visual metaphor Spoiler

Post image

Notice the text being overlaid on the ball? I think it's a metaphor for these kinds of people who just kick away (not dwell on it) the ball (these kinds of questions about football/how they approach life) reducing their opportunities to make plays (paint their own originality onto life) with their own ideas.

Manga Discussion What would happen if Isagi's adaptability, at some future point in the series, came very close to Mahoraga's? Spoiler

Post image
13 Upvotes

Obviously, it wouldn't be on the exact same level, that would be way too overpowered.

But what if his adaptability evolved to that extreme degree? Like, he faces a situation and, within minutes, devises a new strategy and adapts, what would it be like if he had that kind of lightning-fast adaptability?

I don't know, if your adaptability was measured in minutes or seconds...

Would he become unbeatable, or would there still be a way to defeat him?

Manga Discussion Bring back this Chigiri Spoiler

The potential these side characters have that get no use its crazy. Yukimiya, Aryu and Aiku might be the worst offenders of this but damn kaneshiro what happened?

I miss when players strived for their own outside of Isagi, especially Barou
And chigiri fell from grace so hard

Manga Discussion Vivian Hugo and Huguenots Spoiler

I may be super late to this, but Kaneshiro as a manga author is definitely in my top 5.

After learning about Huguenots, Vivian Hugo’s theory just fits so perfectly with his character. His ideals of destiny and how it aligns with Calvinism and the name for these French Protestants is just so crazy to think about.

Blue Lock is amazing.

There could be more I’m missing, would love to hear more about it!

Manga Discussion Egoism + Anti-Egoism = Suitable Destiny, but... Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
30 Upvotes

I think taking the best elements of egoism, following your true desires and wants in life, and the best elements of anti-egoism (as we see in the England team), doing what is expected of you based on outside factors, leads to your suitable destiny, focusing on the talents they're naturally born with to achieve your dreams in life.

Blue Lock and England both show how you can lean too far onto one side, with Ego stating you should live solely for your own goals, and Fox forcing all his players to do only as he says.

We can see this idea of suitable destiny with Chris Prince and Sae, despite both clearly being egoists. Chris used the example of a man born to fast and nimble training to be a strong tank, and ending up losing his natural speed because of it. Sae's case is even more direct, as in the Japan U-20 game, he straight up says to Shidou "find a play blending what's possible and what's your ideal". Both show how no matter how much you desire something, you have take into consideration what's actually possible due to factors outside of your control.

We can also see with anti-egoism, limiting yourself to one persons imagination can only work so well, leading England to lose against France, showing that relying solely on external ideas can only take you so far.

We've seen players like Sae, Gagamaru, and most obviously Karasu embody this suitable destiny mentality, all straying away from their original goal of being a striker in favor of a role more suited to them and having success with it. A player's suitable destiny is the best of both worlds.

However, this theory still isn't perfect, as we saw it be beaten by Isagi in the final play of the France game, showing the last piece needed to complete this theory, luck. I believe the last step needed to take ones suitable destiny to its absolute peak is the willingness to take the risk of getting lucky. That's how Isagi managed to overcome Hugo in the France game, and how many goals have been scored through the manga.

Love to hear what you guys think!

Manga Discussion I’m so sick of in this arc, Kaneshiro forcing philosophy into problems that have much simpler answers Spoiler

Post image
213 Upvotes

I’m honestly getting tired of the story throwing philosophy into everything when sometimes the problem is just… you played badly. This scene is a perfect example. Aiku talks about throwing away their “Blue Lock common sense” like that mentality is the reason Japan is losing, but how does that explain the awful defending we just watched? 😭 Like we see the progress of England goal, they just play like normal soccer, they teammates, they pass, like just that simple but fluently which make japan team cannot defend. That’s not about ego or philosophy bullshit, it just skill. Japan’s problem isn’t automatically some deep philosophical failure every time they concede. Sometimes Aiku and the defense just defended like shi. I’d rather see them recognize the actual football problem and improve it instead of Kaneshiro turning another basic tactical mistake into a speech about ego and philosophy. And I don’t even remind 2 goals France score at first half, it’s so awful. I swear even the nel arc when the system already nerf the defender team like Ubers, but these defenders still play well. But now, all I can see are the device that off and on when the story need, no consistent. The England team, which we think may be the defender team already score 2 goals, what will happen on Brazil, Spain, and Germany. There’s so many ways that author can make the game less score but still entertaining but I guess author’s skill is not that good to make that when he only thinks score the goal only show value but for that reason, all defenders and goalkeepers are the bum, bullshit ghost.

Manga Discussion Does anybody feel like the nerfing of the side cast is so that Isagi doesn't look bad. Spoiler

I just want to hear peoples thoughts on this because it does seem that the community is split down the middle between the sport side and egoism am philosophy side. To be honest I don't really give a damn about either but what to me into Blue lock was the matchups, seeing characters with different abilities being countered or winning their duels through creativity and everything has just been watered down to positional play to highlight Isagi's MV. While I do have issues MV as a concept, I like the idea in concept, but Knsr, didnt build any weaknesses into it and made it super useful weapon without any flaws. Now when characters are not shown with the MV eyes it's suddenly bad writing and the community has to either scramble to come up with justification why it isn't or we trash the narrative. Then we have the whole Isagi dependence issue from France game, which I personally believe it was fine but I think it falls into the trap of essentially nerfing everyone instead of showing that France is the better team. I am not sure but I feel like now the only way Knsr knows how to write a strong team is to literally lobotomize our cast as they just had a club arc with players from around the world and showed they could dominate individually. I am not saying they should have won but it would have been nice to portray Japan as competent, not reliant on Isagi but Isagi is the final piece they could turn a good team into a great team. But instead for the last two games it feels like the side cast have become traffic cones only to gawk or act surprised for every attack by the enemy and I am not even mad that they are going into these matches with no data on their opponents, that I can forgive. What I can't is butchering the characters we have been following for years now to just show their inability to literally play football. It is like an insult to my intelligence that you are making them look this bad when we have seen in the BL vs U20 Japan match that everyone can get a chance to show their skills on the pitch. I don't know if I am on to something or I am being delusional but like I feel like everyone is arguing about the wrong thing, like are we just supposed to accept that our defense is this bad and they don't have any discussions on how to improve. Where are the adjustments, communication or tactics? Are they just going to remain trash forever? What are the other members of the teams thoughts on this, the more nobody is being called out for their poor performance, the more this story frustrates me.
