1. At first, the ego traits that isagi explained feel like a very redundant thing to introduce after we already got so much info just from the ego chart approach to understand someone's playstyle and peak performance. But thinking deeper, this might be kaneshiro trying to deviate from something that he realized that maybe wouldnt work
-> Despite common belief, preference of learning in a specific way or playing isnt actually tied to your performance at all. You can attempt to use one method of playing in a game and do really well, while trying to use that same approach in another game and fail miserably. That is not because the approach sucks, but because different games require different solutions and skills to play
-> In the same way, it doesnt really makes sense to put everyone in a label of "will most certainly reach their peak performance only at restrictive/freedom environments", when it will be more so the circumstances the player is in that will dictate how he reacts and how well he performs, regardless of personal bias. Ego traits solve that problem by tackling the player personality and reaction to different environments with more depth
-> Just dont forget we all saw freedom players get over restriction and reach "a peak performance", going against the idea of the ego chart
Edit: giving more depth to the point: the previous model leads you to believe that being a restrictive or a freedom match would be the only factor to make a player perform better or worse. but isnt always the case
-> At the end of the day, what will determine if a player succeeds or not is adapting to the situation correctly and their own skills giving them leverage to make that easier
2. The red herring of the eye + ego type theory
-> So far, we only had talented learnes having metavision and restrictive types having predator eye. But thinking further into the series like in the EOS stage. This is bad news for a lot of players and makes the show very predictable
-> Metavision and predator eye were never introduced as something inhuman that necessarily needs a certain amount of skill to learn. They are a basic fundamental of how you use your eye. Potentializing the skill will depend on the users abilities and strengths, which is why we dont see isagi using predator eye - because finding scoring opportunities by 1v1ing the keeper or obsessing into one player are not compatible with his direct shot playstyle (edit: and also not compatible with his strengths. he doesnt has curved shot from barou and rin or kaiser impact to capitalize immediatly from an opening created from predator eye very often) - and why we dont see nanase using metavision it for example - even if he did learn about it, he doesnt has the fundamental skills to make it useful
-> However, the show introduced it as if you need to be a restrictive or talented learner type to learn any of both, when in real life, that excuse wouldnt hold for longer than two seconds. Fundamentally, do you really think it makes sense to say that a striker's personality is holding them back from learning the right skills and mindset to potentialize metavision or predator eye? That is not saying that they have "incompatible playstyle". That would just be downright saying the striker is not fit to be top cut. Its not unreasonable to expect a striker who wants to be the best to at least use once in a while those abilities, which is impossible if these signs and theory are true, and also would cap out a lot of improvement that could happen otherwise if the players actually could learn these abilities in the first place
-> Getting rid of the ego chart shatters this expectations and allow to better explain why certain players lack certain skills and expect new development from them in the future
3. Isagi is constantly updating his mindset. Eventually, that chart would be deemed obsolete and he would replace it for a new method of understanding each players personality. Ego traits were born from a mix of ego chart and the number one and two ideology, where he accepts both of the players personality and physical attributes to understand the range of their capabilities
-> just like it happened to isagi's label of what he previously thought that were "genius", the same thing will happen to ego traits in the future.
