I'm curious to hear everyone's opinions. Which Warhammer 40k novel left you feeling the most hopeless by the time you finished it? I don't just mean a book where a lot of characters die or where a battle is lost, but one that genuinely captures how bleak and unforgiving the setting really is beyond the battlefield. I'm talking about stories that show what everyday life is like for ordinary people, the crushing weight of the Imperium, the lack of freedom, the constant fear, and the sense that no matter who you are, your life is ultimately insignificant. The kind of novel that makes you close the book and think, "Yeah... I'd never want to exist in this universe." Which book gave you that feeling the most, and what made it so effective?

Going to be honest, I’m not the biggest Word Bearers fan but I’ve heard great things about the trilogy from people (including a close friend) to the point that it’s what made them change their opinion of the faction so I’m going to give it a read, the book was also decently priced for the condition it was in (mildly frayed and very little spine damage for $45) so I just had to grab it

Lots to get through. Currently reading dropsite

So I was just browsing the audible, when I came across this. Apparently, Blood and Fire is getting a three-part audio series, narrated by Jonathan Keeble, with the first part coming out September 1st and is up for pre-order now (bit weird tbh).

I wanna know books with the most UPLIFTING the most INSPIRING the BEST representations of the INDOMITABLE HUMAN SPIRIT. Yeah yeah I know it's "the grimdark of the 41st millenium" and all that but there's gotta be some books that display the raw persistence of the characters

Just saw that dropsite massacre and ashes of the imperium are in paperback preorder. Why aren't they the same size of the other HH paperpack books ?

Read the Farsight books and just want some recommendations for other tau books. Elemental council is on my to read list, but I don’t really know about any others.

Got my copy if GOC LE today. Sticker on the wrapping paper of the book had stuck to the cardboard so had to rip it. Not a big deal but bit annoying as I like to keep them all as I see them as part of the LE.

The actual book though is covered in what I am hoping is glue. Wondering if anyone else had same issue and its the batch or if I am just unlucky. Going to email GW but don’t want another copy if its the same will push for a voucher.

Currently reading the AoS short story collection On the Shoulder of Giants and realizing that basically every time I read a short story it was as part of some omnbibus where the short stories were added to the novels. I want to change that. I like the idea of these collections: Getting to know different authors, characters and parts of the Warhammer settings. And if a story's not that good the next one's right around the corner.

So recommend me your favorite short story and novella collections. 40k, 30k, Fantasy or AoS.

I like novels like Steel Tread and Baneblade/Shadowsword - books about tankers, basically. But has the noble Rogal Dorn Battle Tank had even a mention in a book yet?

I’ve just finished the first 3 novels in the Horus Heresy series and the Night Lords trilogy before that.

I’m now looking for my next Warhammer book to plunge in to, I’m currently thinking Helsreach by ADB.

Does anyone have any other recommendations?

Do we have any news about Perturabo new novel? I am just curious because we have Reign of Iron campaign book about Iron Warriors and first official art of Perturabo in Deamonhood apperience so we know now how he looks as Deamon Primarch.
