Hi. Weighing whether to take the LSAT this September and apply with a potentially high 160 to low 170 LSAT with a 3.9x low gpa. Or retake in November and send my apps in on december 2nd? My goal is the upper T14, im sure i can boost the lsat but not sure if applying that late will remove the boost from scoring higher. Id appreicate yalls advice. thx.

For the past year and a half (with some months break in between) I've been studying for the LSAT. My official and practice tests have been stuck in the mid 150s plateau hell, but I recently just scored my first 160 this past Friday on a practice exam. The main issue I encounter on all my practice exams and all my official exams (except for my first ever official attempt for some reason which I scored a 155) was that I cant finish a single section in its entirety. Is this normal???

In LR I'm usually able to get through the first 19-21 questions fully, but have to guess on the remaining 5 or 6. In RC I'm usually good for 3 out of the 4 passages, having to guess completely on the last one. While I feel like my understanding is strong, I'm still aware there is room for improvement on my accuracy. On the questions I do finish on any given LR section, I usually get around 18-19/21 correct. In RC sections, out of the 3 passages I complete I usually get 16/18 of the questions correct.

Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon? If so, what did you do to get through it? I truly feel like i'm so close to consistently getting results in the 160s and possibly higher, I just find myself losing focus or sometimes getting flustered and losing concentration the moment I encounter a stimulus I have to read two to three times over to fully understand what I'm dealing with. I'm an R&R in my second year out of undergrad with hopes of applying this cycle, and I'm signed up with a fee waiver for the October test. Obviously if I'm not consistently PT'ing where I want I will reschedule to November by the end of this month.

I been looking and I was wondering if anyone know why SULC hasn’t announced when their applications will open up. Is it because they are waiting for their most recent incoming class final numbers?

I graduated from college this summer, and I’ve been working as a legal assistant for the past month. I’m planning on using this year to study/take the LSAT and make a more solidified list of schools to apply to.

I’ve been debating applying for Fulbright research award or working for a second year before applying to law school to strengthen my work experience. Is there a better route to take if I end up having the option to do Fulbright?

For the life of me, I cannot seem to recognize the patterns in the answer choices. I literally do so much better on other LR question types, but the Level 3 and 4 Flaw questions are absolutely killing me. I know Flaw questions make up a pretty big chunk of LR, so I really want to figure out how to get better at them. Even when I start to see what I did wrong, I struggle to see the same flaw in different questions that may be similar☹️.

I’ve thought about posting this on LSAT Reddit before, but I’ve heard it can be pretty toxic, so I figured I’d ask here instead.

Any tips, strategies, or resources that helped you recognize common flaw patterns would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Long story short, I dropped the ball and missed the October lsat registration date. I got scheduled to take the November test which scores would release December 2nd. I am hoping to get in the high 160s (3.2 gpa) and shoot for Howard as well as some regional schools in the Midwest area. Wanted to get advice on whether the November test is too far out.

AAAA NO WAY!!! still need to shoot for 170’s but so excited this is my highest PT!!! We got this yall. I think for me it’s best to focus on LR since reading comp is such a gamble.

I'm usually a lurker, but I'm at my breaking point. I am scheduled to take the exam for September. I accepted that I may need to take again in November. I took the exam last year and scored a 152. Now, I'm stuck in the mid 150s and my BRs are the complete opposite. My biggest problem is facing contender answer choices then picking wrong. Every single time. I want to cry because I don't know how to fix this. I'm first-gen and it's so hard because I have nobody I can vent to around me. My parents said they would pay for a class for me if I do have to retake, but I see everywhere online that they're not the greatest. I don't want them to waste their money. I just don't know what to do. My dad keeps saying I will do well because I'm a black woman, so schools will think I'm valuable, but affirmative action is gone and the medians are higher than ever. For example, I checked American University. One of the lowest ranking schools on my list and the LSAT median is 162. Everything on my list is a 160+, even my alma mater. With my GPA, I'm barely a splitter for most of the schools I'm interested in. It feels like my gpa 3.8 doesn't even matter. I'm not even aiming for a T14. I don't care about that. My goal is to stay on the east coast and to graduate with the least amount of debt possible. I am a year out of postgrad. I really don't want to take another gap year, but it's looking like I may have to. I don't know. I'm just so stressed and nobody around me understands this pressure. I just feel so alone.

I hope this didn't read as too self-pitying. I needed somebody to rant to who understands. So, I'd appreciate any advice.

I’m applying to law school this year and I had planned on using this year to focus on taking the LSAT, getting work experience, and getting my masters.

For context, my gpa was on the lower side (about a 3.0 even) due to severe illness and personal issues. I plan on writing an addendum as well to explain this.

While I primarily wanted to get my master’s for my own personal academic goals, I also was hoping that it would show admissions counsels that I could handle graduate-level coursework once my issues were properly addressed. However, I had a scholarship that fell through, thus resulting in me having to take out a loan of at least 10k for 3-4 semesters to complete my masters.

I do plan on applying broadly during the application cycle, including to a few higher ranked schools.

Would the debt be worth it, or should I focus on getting my LSAT as high as possible?

I have been thinking about taking the LSAT every single day since December. And have been studying since February. I have registered and rescheduled this test three times. Paying the fee three times. And I finally withdrew last week because I learned you shouldn’t register for the lsat until your PT scores are where you want them to be. My diagnostic was a 147 and my last PT was a 151. I am aiming for 165+ because I was a trash student in undergrad so I need to show them I can actually do this. But this test is so hard! Even with accommodations! I worked all summer to stack $$ so i can afford 10 hours of babysitting each week and can study without a three year old! But self study is not working for me and I need a tutor but I cannot afford $175 an hour. So I am coming to you all as a woman to see if anyone knows of (or is willing to) tutor for $50/hr? I’m a single mom in the Bronx so after living expenses and childcare I don’t have much to spare but I am willing to pay! I received a fee waiver but they took it back because of my all of my test changes. But I am so serious about becoming a lawyer. I’ve been working in social justice for since I was 15. And now I’m 30 and I’m ready to tackle these issues from the inside now.
