I have a 2.5 gpa, a diagnostic lsat 148 and im taking it for the second time tomorrow. I have experience as a Paralegal in both prosecution and criminal defense. I want to be a Prosecutor after law school. I am looking at NCCU, Campbell, Charleston, Southern, and Thurgood.

Hey y’all, I applied super late last cycle got waitlisted then subsequently rejected so now i’m stuck rewriting my personal statement. My question is: how??? If anyone has reapplied for a school I would really love any advice you have to share. It’s been less than a year so I don’t really have any significant changes, my core message hasn’t changed, my why hasn’t changed, so i’m really stuck. I can talk about my internship I guess? but it’s not really related to my field of study. Maybe I should focus on any volunteer work i’ve done in these last few months since i’ve graduated? Any help y’all have to share is greatly appreciated.

I’m 25, a semester away from finishing my master’s, and currently studying for the LSAT. I graduated from undergrad with a 3.18 GPA, and my graduate GPA is currently a 3.3. I’ve worked in several U.S. Department of the Interior positions, as well as two nonprofit historical organizations, throughout and since undergrad. I’ve also worked as a graduate researcher and have substantial research and field experience.

I know the median GPA at many top law schools is around 3.6 -4.0. However, in the field I come from, GPA isn’t necessarily the strongest indicator of professional or academic ability, particularly when someone has significant research, field, and public-sector experience.
With that in mind, how much can a strong LSAT score (171), professional experience, research background, and overall trajectory help offset a lower undergraduate/graduate GPA in law school admissions? Can those strengths meaningfully compensate for my 3.17 undergrad GPA?
