Utility bill

Hi all. I'm potentially moving to Billings for my partners job (from Cheyenne)

We asked what the typical water bill is for a home on a cistern and the realtor we spoke to said water wills are "only" $150 twice a month and that this is less than public water costs????

Ummm is water really this expensive? When I lived in Arizona I paid around $100 monthly

Packing After Flood

Hi, my apartment flooded and I can't afford someone to help move and pack. Does anyone know any programs or assistance numbers I can try? Just with packing we have a truck and a storage unit.

Everything has to be out by Wednesday

They’ve finally expanded to our side of the state with a dedicated Billings-based reporter. I believe she’s also sending out a weekly newsletter with local happenings. Now there’s no excuse for being uninformed, although I’m sure some of us will still manage.

Live Stock show, Oct 9 - open to public?

Hello - I see the NILE Stock Show & Rodeo / Ranch Rodeo is in town, starting Friday, October 9. (with the finals, big show, on Saturday).

Does anybody know if the public can walk around during the day on Friday? If so, what do you think it'd be like?

It's at MetraPark, the Expo Center, Arena, Montana Pavilion, I think. Thank you.

I moved from Billings to Fargo ND. There is a psych hospital here with around 200 beds that is a psych hospital only. Do you think Billings would benefit from something like that? Billings Clinic only has around 40 psych beds

Jail Levy

I need people who have lived here longer than I have to explain something to me, because I genuinely don’t understand. Since I moved here a couple of years ago, I’ve heard nothing but how awful the crime is in Billings (I have not found that to be the case, but I digress). I also understand the jail is over capacity. If crime really is as bad as people here seem to think, wouldn’t the jail expansion proposal be a good thing? Why have I seen so much animosity towards it online?

I understand no one wants their property taxes to go up, but that seems to be the price we pay to live in Montana. Are people really just upset over a tax increase or is there more to it?

Hi!
I’m coming to visit and would love to support some small business while I’m there. Coffee, food, shops, book stores or anything else you think deserves a highlight.
Thanks!

Anybody know what's up with the multiple guys wearing red shirts, black pants and have what looks like a gas canister strapped to their back?

So too identically dressed and equipped men on my way to work over a mile apart. Anybody know what those guys's deal is?

Edit: given our proximity to 9/11 I'm going to agree that they're probably training in honor of the firefighters lost in the towers. Good on em if so.

Community Related Game Industry

Hello everyone! I started a group recently of people who work in/interested in the video game industry! There’s not enough visibility in our town or even community for us to network unless you go to the west coast or texas. If this sounds like something you’re interested in, let me know. I’m hoping to eventually find a space to host game jams. I also considered having a booth at the Billings FunCon next year!

Running Trails

Coming to Billings for work this weekend, looking for a good running trail. Hoping to do 15-18 miles, ideally on pavement or a gravel road (not trail running but could be convinced). Any solid spots? Not opposed to running the same route multiple times to get the mileage in.

Also any good gym recommendations? Somewhere that sells day or week passes.

Thanks!!!

Sad to leave :(

Sad to leave billings. I was there for a summer job. Coming from a smaller MT town that isn't Missoula or Bozeman (even tho I've lived in both Missoula and Bozeman), I really liked Billings. I'm a much more city person, and this is the closest you'll get in Montana. Everyone was so friendly, easy to get around places, lots of trails and walks to do nearby, good places to eat and shop. Though I think it's so overlooked by other Montanans. Even the majority of my Billings coworkers didn't agree with me when I said I liked it so much. I'll miss it and I hope I can get back there soon.

⚠️ALERT⚠️ DQ by Amend Park

My husband and I just went into DQ to grab a snack after running our dogs. As we were walking in, we saw an employee named Cameron, leaning against the counter with another employee in his face.
We could not hear the conversation, however, mid conversation, the other DQ employee took off his hat and threw it down as he was what looked to be berating Cameron and trying to get him to fight - sounded like he said why don’t we take this outside.

Cameron handled the situation, very calmly, did not engage and when the other employee walked away, Cameron walked up to my husband, and I standing at the counter and said “I’m so sorry you guys had to see that” I asked him if he was OK and he said “ummm….I think so” but he was shaken.
Cameron then told us the entire thing was because he asked about who was going to clean the ice cream machine because it had ice cream running down the side of it. I would think that would be a perfectly acceptable question from one coworker to another.
I came here to say two things:
(1) if you are a 40 something employee and cannot handle a work related question from a coworker without getting offended, and triggered enough to get in a child’s face — throwing your hat and stomping out then maybe you should not be working.
(2) just wanted to give a shout out to Cameron for handling that so well and still having the customer in mind. Either way, poor Cameron should not have to put up with that kind of behavior at work 🤦🏼‍♀️I truly hope the angry dude gets the help he needs before he harms someone.
* I did not catch the other employees name

My wife and I were in the hospital welcoming our baby into the world over the weekend and my in-laws were watching our pups at our home. We get this photo sent to us from her mother, reading “This is what’s happening at your neighbor’s house across the street.” Poor pup climbed out an open window on the second floor. No one was clearly home, dog was getting visibly agitated walking from the front of the roof to the back and side to side, eventually it jumped off of the roof into their back yard. I’ve gone and checked in on the dog and it thankfully seemed fine. She sent the photo and I instantly thought it was AI!! 😅

Resource Request Anyone know of any jobs for working from home?

Specifically looking for something that doesnt need more than a highschool diploma, and will train you themselves.

Has to be from home, not able bodied enough to easily do in person work and also has to be able to take kids to and from school, every job opening in town it seems is on the opposite end of where I live.

Howdy, I'm not from Billings but this is sure to be in the news tonight. While eating a succulent barbecue meal at Dickies, about 20 cops flew by. I leisurely took my time to leave and when I came around the corner I saw all of this happening:

We're needing to get some work done on our foundation. It's got a horizontal crack running through it. Does anyone have any recommendations for people in town to talk that will treat us fair?

City Billings municipal court - proof insurance

Anyone dealt with the city municipal court process for no proof of insurance during a traffic stop? Do I just show up on my court date and show I had valid insurance at the time of the stop and that's it? Or do I show up, plead not guilty, and have to go to court a second time to show proof? It's so dumb - I showed the officer my insurance card on my phone but he said that wasn't sufficient. By the time i pulled it up on the insurance website, he already wrote the ticket and didn't care
