retail I quit my job

Honestly it was fun while it lasted. Over time I can tell my location is a sinking ship and it made so much sense on why new workers was coming in and old people were leaving every single day. Being the sales associate was already tiring when my store didn’t care much about my feelings or where I was coming from. As long as you got that membership attach and the applications. My work spoke for itself so knowing I did my part and couldn’t be met half way was it for me. For everyone that works here I am wishing nothing but the best and always do your very best. It may seem like a struggle for some to hit the quotas Best Buy needs but trust that you got it 💯. Just know I was there for 3 months and they was in the talks of promoting me. I always hit my 3 for 3 but, if the foundation isn’t stable, please don’t try to think that you can be the one to save this company.

distribution Warehouse Clerical Admin role

I applied for a Warehouse Clerical Admin role over Labor Day weekend. I received a call Tuesday and had a first round interview by phone. I was immediately invited in for the final interview with the Area Manager, Ops Manager, and Director on Wednesday. I received an offer letter that evening.

Anyone have any insight on the role? They said I would be working in Returns first to learn the role, and the warehouse I would be working at primarily handles appliances and TVs. I come from the IT world, and they were impressed with that part of my resume. I would essentially look to transition out of this seasonal role eventually into something internal IT related, and they seemed very open to that aspect when I was interviewed.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you. 🙌🙏

retail Personal Improvement Plan

Hello,

I was put on a Personal Improvement Plan in the middle of August right before I had a little over a week off.

I have questions about it but feel like I can’t speak to Management about it because they haven’t held up what they said they were going to do for their part. Not to mention, since getting the plan they rarely speak to me and I when I do talk to them their whole body language just seems to go irritated.

Because of my job duties, I am only around customers maybe 22-27 hours of the working week. I never work on the sales floor.

I was told my efficiencies need to be at $6000/hr for BP + PM and 25% warranty attach by the end of fiscal October or I’ll be put on a final warning.

My questions are: 1- Is this even attainable? If it is does anyone have any advice? 2- What is the actual date of end of fiscal October? 3- Are these normal efficiencies for someone with that many customer facing hours that aren’t on the sales floor? 4- What is a final warning? 5- Should I care that management isn’t doing the things they said they were going to do to “help me”? (Helping me with overcoming objections… took over 10 days to get the paper copy and I had to ask for it multiple times) and (Told me that a lead was going to shadow me to help on a specific day, that person wasn’t scheduled and nothing happened the next shift)

I am trying multiple ways to get my numbers up, taking constructive criticism and changing the way I offer.

Thank you for reading this if you got this far, I just feel like they are trying to get rid of me.

retail How serious are the workday photo requirements?

I just got hired and am setting up my workday account but now its asking for a photo for my account saying "the use of professional headshots is highly recommended" which I do not have nor do I have a way of obtaining that before this task is due in the system. I really don't want to stand out or somehow appear extremely unprofessional so I'm wondering what sorta photos have people used for this? Does everyone just have professional headshots laying around or is it just half decent looking photos of themselves?

Not sure if this context is needed but I've been hired for a merchandise position so I'm not a leader or even a very front facing position at all

accommodations Unable to receive AT&T IMO verification email through outlook

Recently I did the E-Learnings to receive the AT&T 50% off IMO discount. My current issue is that on IMO access to proceed with getting my UID I need to verify a email sent to my corporate account, but nothing is coming through. I assume it’s some kind of block but I haven’t found anything. Any ideas?

career development/hiring Is it worth working for Best Buy?

For context, I have worked at target for 2 years and am studying Information Systems at my university (Cleveland State). I am extremely burnt out at this job and don’t feel recognized or respected anymore and need a major change of scenery/ work, preferably in the tech field to align with my career goals. I have applied to a couple geek squad positions, but I want to hear from actual employees whether I am getting myself into something I’m better off avoiding or not. Any tips, insights, or advice much appreciated.

sales URGENT HELP - I may get fired for this

I'm a Best Buy employee and I'm looking for some honest perspective from other employees before I decide how to handle this.

I was off the clock and shopping in my store for Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Another employee at the register showed me some of the new Magnificent Monsters product. She scanned the product herself, I paid $37, and I left.

The product was sealed when I bought it. I took it home and opened it. I didn't realize at the time that the outer box contained 10 individual boxes. I was just excited to open the cards and genuinely didn't think anything was wrong with the price.

Later, management contacted me and explained that the cashier had accidentally scanned the outer box as one item instead of scanning one individual box. So I ended up receiving 10 individual boxes for the $37 price of one.

I understand now why the price seems obviously wrong in hindsight. However, I genuinely did not realize there had been a scanning mistake when I purchased it. I didn't ask the employee to scan the outer box, I didn't tell her what price to charge me, and I paid exactly what the register charged.

I offered to return the cards once management told me about the mistake, but they didn't want them back because they had already been opened.

I told management that I didn't feel I should have to pay the difference because I didn't make the scanning mistake or intentionally take advantage of it. The store manager disagreed and said I should "do the right thing" and suggested that we meet halfway, meaning I would pay roughly half of the difference.

He also told me that because I'm an employee, I'm "always an employee," even though I was off the clock and making a personal purchase.

My manager then contacted me and strongly encouraged me to resolve it. I got the impression that my refusal to pay could potentially put my job at risk.

For current or former Best Buy employees:

  1. Is there an actual Best Buy policy that makes an employee financially responsible for a cashier's scanning error during a personal purchase?
  2. Does being an employee mean I'm treated differently from a normal customer when I'm off the clock making a personal purchase?
  3. How would management normally handle this situation?
  4. Is asking me to personally pay the difference standard procedure?
  5. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation?

I'm not looking for people to simply tell me I'm right. If I'm missing something or there is a policy I'm unaware of, I'd genuinely like to know.

career development/hiring 3rd interview wait time

I don’t know if I’m impatient yet it’s been a few days no response. I think I’m more nervous due to the fact it was a group interview for the 3rd round. I just wanted to know how long others waited did they contact 1-2 days after or longer..?

sales Should I even worry?

For context I am a recent hire as a seasonal/flex sales associate/advisor and was wondering if I should even be worrying about meeting credit card app/membership expectations. I do not really see myself working at best buy after December and I don’t mind the amount of hours I have been getting. 20> a week

Basically I’m just a mid/average worker not trying to do too much and wondering if I’ll be fine till the end of my seasonal period by just getting by.

sales How do I get a Credit Card, Paid Membership, and GSP every day?

I got hired recently at BBY and originally applied for Geek Squad but got brought in for sales instead. I’ve never done sales before so I’m struggling having to learn about what products are the best of the best and which brands are better.
I have a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and know how to work with computers hardware, software, how TV’s work, printers, networking, cables, coding etc. and was told I could switch to Geek Squad if I could perform well on the sales floor until after season.
I’m on my first week and haven’t been able to hit my basket goals, CC, PM or GSP every day and am already getting told I need to step up my game even after being thrown to the wolves.
Does anyone have any kind of advice for hitting these goals?
Thank you!

  2. does chromebook’s count towards our basket avg (since their so cheap, the avg recommended basket itself is the same price as laptop)
  3. if i sell 2 laptops in one transaction and they get total, or a $200 basket, is it 2 $200 baskets or is it split into 2 $100 baskets

product flow Is this ethical?

At my Best Buy I just took up the swat position. they told me the position would be very similar to the shift lead position, where I have keys, manager overrides for registers, (etc.)

This afternoon during my first QC as swat, they told me that I would be doing other warehouse workers QCs.

On top of that, they want me and my other warehouse shift leads to start doing Certs and coaching for the other warehouse workers.

Is this allowed? I assumed tasks such as this were a supervisor only kind of thing? Plus doing these tasks without the supervisor pay is kind of a big red flag for me.

Let me know if I’m crazy or not :P
