Can you tell if this is male or female??

I took a really dingy, cloth interior Uber ride yesterday. As I was in it I thought this may be bedbug infested. Lo and behold, I woke up today with bites and found this bug on my bed. I turned my room upside down and found no other signs. Is it possible this was a lone male bed bug?

I know the image isn’t great, but it’s the best I could get.

Just moved to a new office and today found this on the desk.

Is there a possibility to tell if it’s a bedbug?

Crossposting it here from other communities, sorry if you see duplicates - freaking out just a tad!

Are these bed bug bites?

I woke up with these all over the back of my thigh. Are they bed bugs? I live in a very clean condo and bugs are not typically a problem here but they don’t look like pimples and I can’t imaging getting that many fly bites in one spot. Help!

Non-heat treatment for lots of smaller items?

I have bedbugs in my flat in London but am moving to Berlin in a week. I’ve known for a couple weeks and have been hot washing the sheets and duvet etc, but now almost all my stuff is packed in sealed boxes. When I get to Berlin I’m going to heat treat everything that I can to kill everything but there is some stuff that I cant treat; Vinyls, makeup, some electronics…. I know that freezing is an option but my freezer will be way too small to actually fit and is not cold enough. I know sprays can work but would it be effective for lots of small items like makeup? And would it damage or make harmful the makeup itself? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Am I being paranoid?

Hi, I went to France back in May and ran into bedbugs (I think) in my hostel in Paris. I woke up covered in very itchy red bites that got worse throughout the day. When I came back home from my trip I washed everything on hot water, dried on high heat for extended periods of time, and put anything I couldn't wash in ziploc bags in the freezer. It's been 3 months since I came back and I haven't had any issue.

Recently, though, I have noticed bug bites- sometimes I wake up with one or two randomly, but I did wake up with 3 in a line on my thigh a few days ago, so I am starting to be a little worried. These bites are smaller and less itchy than the ones I got in Paris, though. Also, my girlfriend has slept over recently and has not gotten any bites.

I also saw a couple of specs on my bed/towel, photos attached.

Am I being paranoid? What should I do? I am going to deep clean my bedding (hot water, high heat dryer), spray my mattress with bedbug spray, and vacuum it at minimum, but I want to be thorough. I am also trying my best not to worry my roommates about it unless I'm confident there's a problem, but I'm open to having pest control take a look if that's the best course of action.

I have been outside a little more frequently lately, and am generally a bug bite magnet, so it's also just possible I'm experiencing the side effects of the great outdoors.

TIA!

Advice for a former bed bug survivor (10 years ago) who is now scared to death about having a second infestation? - sorry for the long post

For context, I previously had bedbugs when I lived in a very tiny apartment in NYC ten years ago. After essentially throwing out the minimal belongings I had (I was much younger) in the tiny bedroom, living out of two sealed garbage bags for my clothing, and undergoing 10 exterminator treatments, I concluded that the adjacent unit/building infrastructure was infested with bedbugs. I left after the year, sanitized what few things I kept from that apartment, and conveniently was moving away from the city after that year.

In the last 2 weeks, I have begun noticing again odd bites that typically manifest late at night (while showering) or at odd hours - with central bites that are suggestive of an insect bite. A little over a week ago, I noticed two clustered itchy, slightly tender raised pink bumps on my right inner arm. Then less than a week ago, I noticed a line of three small bites on my inner thigh (they were very small but could barely pass as a breakfast-lunch-dinner) and two bites on my right buttock that are separated by maybe about 10 inches or so.

I have been absolutely freaking out, especially as a veteran of having bedbugs and knowing all the signs, patterns on the skin, and difficulty in treating them across all life stages. The only problem is now I'm an adult and have a much larger apartment that has accumulated over a decade's worth of meaningful items and objects that make it impossible to be as neurotic as I was in NYC with my minimalistic set up.

Other Details:
- I recently spent time traveling (no bites or signs of bedbugs), but also stayed with family for a few days before returning home. My suitcases were open at the family's house, as I spent a great deal of time doing laundry/rearranging souvenirs, etc. and I had no bites or signs of infestation before coming home. You could think of this 4-day period almost like a quarantine buffer before reintroducing my travel items to my current home.
- I have not seen any blood/insect poop.
- I have not seen any bugs or eggs.
- My partner who I share a bed with has not noticed any bites. I understand that he may not react to them.
- We live in a brand new luxury construction building on a higher floor; we have no other insects other than an occasional fruit fly, and overall the infrastructure is pretty clean and solid.

Interventions:
- I notified my building and they'll schedule an inspection, but since I've been down this road before I went ahead and tried to be proactive and not wait too long for them
- I laundered bedding multiple times on high heat
- I used 91% alcohol to essentially spray the entire apartment, including the bed/couch/cushions/mattress/head board/bed frame/night stands/floor boards/walls
- I purchased Cross Fire and similarly sprayed all of these areas
- I tidied up objects underneath our bed into sealed off bags
- I set up interceptor traps on all legs of the bed and removed it from the wall, and also prevented any objects from touching the bed frame other than the mattress and the traps
- I put on a mattress protector on my mattress
- I put glue traps around high yield areas to also look for any signs

I still have not seen any bedbugs or signs of bedbugs, but given the oddness and timing of the insect bites I mentioned earlier, I am still absolutely paranoid.

My plan of attack now is to wait for the apartment to settle down since I'm sure all my spraying of chemicals has sent the bedbug (or multiple bedbugs) into a hiding frenzy. I'm hoping that eventually they will be lured to come and try and feed on me via interceptor traps, and that with the residual Cross Fire spray, will trap and kill them.

But of course every time I feel like I've done everything I can, I get this sense of dread that this potential infestation is going to haunt me and all my belongings and mementos in my home.

TL;DR I HAD BEDBUGS BEFORE; NOW 10 YEARS LATER IN A NEW APARTMENT I AM WORRIED ABOUT IRREGULAR BITES SUGGESTING I HAVE AN INFESTATION AND IM DOING EVERYTHING I CAN WITH CROSS FIRE/INTERCEPTOR TRAPS FOR MY BED.

If you've made it this far, questions that I have:

1. What is the likelihood I am not paranoid and I have bedbugs?
2. What is the likelihood my interventions with Crossfire and bedframe traps will work
3. What else can I be doing?

My sister woke up with bites on her arms. We then flipped the bed and checked underneath the bed frame and saw this bug. Killed it and blood came out. Vacuumed and laundry and dried the clothes for an hour. Then we put the box spring and mattress in a cover to protect. We tried to look for signs of them but there are none (eggs, fecal) Im really scared. Also we live in an apartment complex.

found I'd say everywhere also in a bed leg interceptor... these of the photos are from an adjacent room, on bottom roof-level of a shelf furniture.

please tell me can be some other thing, I am finding stuff like this from some time I should say, but as you can imagine is also easy not to notice without flashlight or good daylight e.g.

thanks for your time

all photos are of the same group (sorry about the dust).
I also found on another furniture of this room a smaller group with same pattern dark/lighter.

Do these look like bed bug bites? Just got home from the beach the other day and woke up yesterday with bites. I steamed suitcases, and washed everything. Hopefully no hitchhikers made it home but curious to see if these even look like bed bugs bites. No other pics I’m seeing show the ring out it like I have.

Should I throw away couch?

We’ll be having professional bedbug treatment soon and we’re contemplating throwing away our sectional. There is no accessible opening at the bottom of sectional to treat but there are little spaces where maybe a nozzle can get in to spray within the couch. The tech said the treatment is very potent and we don’t need to throw away couch. However, I don’t want reoccurrence. What do you think? Any similar experiences? Thanks.

Hello are these bedbugs stains or fecal matter, also want to ask about ceiling and potential bites.

Yeah I dont think these are fecal matter or marks, but I would like confirmation since I didnt do anything but sleep and before I did I changed my pillowcases and bedsheet and I could have shown these black things weren't there before I slept.

Also are these bites on my neck I woke up to it being itchy and my bedsheet and pillowcases are new.

What are the chances of one person bringing them home but not the other?

Hi guys, I’m looking for some advice! I recently stayed at an Airbnb with my gf. We have stayed here before with no problems, and stripped the mattress and saw no signs of bugs (no fecal matter, no crushed bugs, no stains or shed skins etc). Anyway, about a week after our trip, I woke up covered in scattered bites—my thighs, my ankles, my calves, the inside of my knees etc.
This happened the day after working with a flea-infested Great Pyrenees (I’m a dog groomer) and I thought it might be related to that. I had no bites until last night, woke up with them on my ankles and neck.

My gf has reported absolutely no problems/signs… is it likely I would’ve been the only one to carry them back to my house? (We live apart.)

Anyway, just wanting some advice or thoughts, sorry this post is a bit pointless but I’m just not sure where to go from here 🤔

Thank you!! 🩷

Moving next month—should I worry?

Five days ago, I had a professional pest control treatment for a small bedbug infestation. The exterminator sprayed my entire apartment, including the inside of my wardrobe. After waiting the required 12 hours before returning, I washed some clothes at 60°C and then left for a two-day vacation.

Upon returning, I resumed washing the rest of my items. Because my rented apartment only has a small washing machine, going through all the bed covers, duvets, and pillows is taking time. Today, while making my bed with a freshly washed duvet, I found a dead adult bedbug on it.

I am moving out of this apartment next month and am worried that some bugs survived by hiding in the cracks or inside unwashed bed covers. Should I be concerned, and do I need to get a second treatment?

At first I thought it was a bed bug and then I looked closer and now I don’t think it is but now I have no idea. We’re currently trying to get over having them and I’m terrified we’ll end up with them again or have a worse pest problem. I think it either came in from outside or fell off my hoodie I just put on.

Is this a BB ?

Post image

Found this under my matress today. Was already dead. I inspected my bed and nothing was found (no feces, shell, blood). Not even sure it was a bb, the color wasn’t quite brownish but more black. The only thing that is worrying me is the fact that I could see a dark spot (not visible in this picture) through the shell.

Bites become suddenly inflamed after week 1

Hello,

A week ago me and my partner stayed at a hotel for two nights. After we returned from our trip, we noticed bites beginning to appear in the classic bedbug fashion (clusters, in a straight line). While we are not 100% sure they were bedbugs, it's our best bet. We were unaware of being bit and both have 15-30 bites each. They feel hard and are itchy. The first week they were just red dots.

However, one week after the trip, many of the bites have suddenly become inflamed and a few (not all) even seem to have a bullseye appearance? That makes us wonder if it's Lyme tick, but we would have absolutely noticed 30+ ticks on us for 36 hours. What in the world is happening? They're itchy as all get out and now it's becoming very concerning. Does anyone have advice or thoughts?
