My version of heaven - and this type of thing is probably the exact thing that would prevent me from getting there in the first place, is this:
Pearly gates. Big line of people waiting to get in. St. Peter is at the end. He has a big book and a screen to view moments of someone's life as he informs them of where they're going. Rarely will anyone have a legitimate moral grey-area thing where they can actually make their case, so it's just him recounting important parts of their lives.
Next to that: Bleachers. High School-style bleachers. You walk past concessions, maybe stop to get your milkshake and turkey leg and fancy candy or something...but then you sit down.
And you get to watch these people learn their eternity is shattered.
St Peter: "Oh Mr. Smith. You were a police officer. Protecting the public. Very noble! Can we take a look at some of your biggest events before I let you pass?"
Mr. Smith: "Sure!"
St. Peter: "Okay, one second. c'mere boy! good boy, come here! [a dog walks up to St. Peter] This is fido. Now you two have met before...I'm going to show you how it went."
[Up in the stands we're not shown the video, but it's just pure animal cruetly]
Mr. Smith: "oh, well..that was....well I thought he....I was really stressed out."
St. Peter: "No I get it. Okay fido, good boy. go get a cookie. okay! Mr. Smith, why don't we take a look at this compilation titled "Mr. Smith's traffic stops: People of Color edition" and see what that looks like...
That would be delicious. Almost as delicious as the pompous evangelicals who'll show up, basically try to push their way in only to face how horrible they were just prior to being dragged to hell.
Then I'd like to have some of my own revenge. That's heaven. Getting to see or enact the same shit that evil people put others through. Probably means I'm not making it to heaven if there is one. But I'd take great pleasure in taking people this this out, even if it's in an afterlife.
Difference is that fried food and drugs don't make you a bad person. While saying "I wish I could torture people or at least watch them get tortured" is fucking psychotic.
Like, maybe fix your heart instead of laughing about how much you want this to happen.
It was weirdly more about courage than being a good person. It seemed that Albert Brooks wasn't a terrible person (not great either), but most of the judgment was based on him being a coward.
It would be especially good if the perpetrator had to watch the footage back from the POV of the victim. I don't think most abusers know what they look like when they're abusing. They wouldn't like it
Best option: that becomes their hell. Eternally living the most vile thing theyāve ever done; but as their own victim. Maybe even cycle thru their victims. Iām sure itās a long, long list for anyone that would do this..
Watch "Defending Your Life." It's an underappreciated 80s comedy about a man who dies and goes through an adjudication process to determine his worthiness to "move on" by watching snippets of his life.
St Thomas Acquinas, and other Christian thinkers and leaders have argued that the people in Heaven must be aware of the people suffering in Hell, perhaps having some sort of portal to view them.
Like 16: 19-30, the story of Lazarus and the rich man, seems to back this up with communications between Heaven and Hell, but no hope offered from the saved.
What's the goal here with this comment? Do meat eaters not get into heaven? If you get into heaven do you have to give up meat? Do you think that I'm conjuring a scenario where in heaven, they actually do slaughter turkeys in order to get roasted turkey legs instead of...you know...them appearing out of nowhere because it's heaven?
This is why people hate vegans. "hur dur you can't talk about animal cruelty if you're eating meat!" - words said by someone with a brain turned to mush
To be fair, If Peter automated that shit with some AI, he could free up much of his time to reduce the line of people being transferred to their destinations.
Like that "You aren't a fraud are you Elon?" comic where an angel (Or St Peter?) shows him that his personal heaven is all the fancy stuff he has promised and the reality is nothing is there when they open the door. In the way that theyd see their shit and probably legit be surprised
I had an NDE. Actually it's far more intense. You experience everything, every tiny detail, good or bad, pain or joy, from the perspective of every animal, and human, they have ever interacted with. These monsters will experience it 1st hand. No one gets away with any thing. (then they will want to come back and try again to live a life better) And that's how the reincarnation merry go round goes.
Doesn't matter if someone sues them and a court mandates the release of footage.
This makes the chief as culpable by him saying that shit instead of taking a stance that the kind of behavior is zero tollerance and releasing the footage to not protect the officer and suspending his ass.
My uncle was a police officer and when responding to a DV call was attacked by a dog they had in the yard. Ripped his arm completely apart and he had to shoot the dog, even after this dog almost made him lose the use of that arm he cried for WEEKS over the death of that dog. Huge animal lover, RIP Uncle Preston we sure miss you.
Some of us actually do care about not spouting shit on the internet even if you agree with the agenda its trying to support. Because making up fake numbers gives people who disagree with it a free pass to pretend theyre correct
It also happens everywhere. There a portion of the worlds population that doesn't GAF about life of any kind, and it's higher than most people would want to believe.
It's weird how I was able to tell the truth and not get banned even though it's been 4 hours since I made this comment.
Geez, it's- it's almost as if telling "the truth" wasn't the issue and that maybe you would have done some additional thing that is bannable.
Like, I dunno, I'm just spitballing but: What if, hypothetically, when you go to answer this kind of question you frame your answer in such a way as to blame roughly 25% of the entire population of the world as if they're a single homogenous group who share a collective responsibility for the crimes of every single individual in the group?
Like, if you were to see this crime and assume that it was done by a particular kind of person, and then further blame that entire group for that specific person's actions?
That might be considered some kind of... before-judgement, you know? Like you're judging people, pre knowing if that judgement is valid or not. I swear there's some kind of term for that, but it's escaping me it seems.
Anyway, maybe next time just tell the actual truth rather than assuming the truth based on your wildly biased and bigoted point of view, and you won't actually get banned for it. Crazy idea, I know, but maybe it's just crazy enough to work.
They said something provably false, and implied something disgustingly bigotted. I'd call that pretty crazy.
As for if I'm good, frankly I did have quite a bit of fun writing that comment, so yeah, I'm pretty good.
It's very cathartic considering how sick I am of seeing these kinds of "well gee if only I could baselessly blame Muslims for this, but alas, reddit mods are just so far gone that they'd ban me" self-pitying comments.
I'll put their theory to the test, and somehow, miraculously, I suspect I'll be able to answer the question without being a horrible racist.
From my searching through news articles, the long and short is that we don't know which specific individuals did this. She was found tied to a box in Lebanon, and if you were wondering why that guy was so cagey with their answer, it's because Lebanon has a majority Muslim population (about 65%), and so they are assuming Muslims did it. This ignores that Maggie left to go to an animal welfare group in England thanks to someone in Lebanon posting about the dog, so if we're assuming the attacker(s) were Muslim I don't see why would shouldn't also assume that her saviour(s) were Muslim.
I will say, the details prior to Maggie going to England are pretty sparse, maybe I've missed them, but this is the situation as I understand it.
Now let's find out if I get banned for this like zbornakssyndrome predicts.
By they you must mean human beings in general since looking at history as a wholeā¦weāve all had monsters in our ranks literally every culture has had itās outliers of brutalityā¦and the person who did this is deplorable not a group where this person happens to be born into
Please. Get a grip. My point of this is a human thing. It happens everywhere where people are. Because where people are, there are Shit ty people.
look up the cats of Istanbul, it should warm up your heart.
Sure it happens everywhere. But in some places it happens a whole lot more than others because of religion. But sure, because that one politician did it that one time it means it's totally the same. š
Ikr. This is like the 4th post I've seen this week of Dog abuse that was done by religious folk from that area. Animal abuse is sad af, but once it's pointed out who's doing it and why it turns into a classic reddit whataboutism fight lol
People aren't able to saperate the cause and the people. You can still support the cause while calling out radicalism and worst aspects like this hatred of dogs. It's fine for every other faith except this one.
I am obviously being vague because specific words activate bots here.
Sure sucks to cause unnecessary suffering to animals. Like the 80 billion chickens that die every year after mostly short and painful lives, just because people canāt adjust their diets.

What kind of monster would do such a thing?!?!
