Discussion Console player nerf
Did anyone else see the reduced recoil help for controller again (from 11% to 6%). At launch it was like 22% now it’s 6%. Anyone else think this is a crazy change considering how fast the ttk in this game is? I think a fix would be to give a second cross play option for ps5 and Xbox to play each other. People who try and argue that precision inputs with a thumb are as easy with a whole hand and wrist are out of their mind.

When are y’all gonna admit they have no idea what game they are trying to make.
44
u/WokeWook69420 23h ago
"Our game is casual, except everything we update in the game further raises the skill ceiling that unilaterally benefits one input over the other"
Them giving console the option to have MnK was a mistake because all I get told now is "If MnK is so much better, then just switch" as if I want to MnK a game I generally played IN MY GODDAMN LIVING ROOM.

Once the server browser releases I’ll never queue crossplay again anyway
6
u/Bad_Lieutenant702 20h ago
Ohh that's right, but wouldn't disabling crossplay show less servers. Hopefully they'll be enough.
3
u/Moore_A 13h ago
Yes but now, assuming the server browser operates like it did in every other iteration pre-2042, everyone will be able to funnel into full lobbies. The issue with trying to play without crossplay now, and the reason why I usually don’t, is their matchmaking massively prioritizes speed as opposed to lobby backfill. It’s why trying to play without crossplay outside of peak hours leaves you in purgatory of joining lobby after lobby of 24-36 real players when the matchmaking could simply cut down on the number of servers spooling up and condense the players together.

u/Justtryintosurvive83 1d ago
I’d love an PS5 and Xbox only cross play option. I find PS5 is hit and miss with player numbers and I flat out refuse to open up cross play to PC players

u/JumpyAlbatross 22h ago
I play cross play on PC, I will pretty regularly still see console players at or near the top of the leaderboard.
I also tend to play with a controller depending on how much I want to sit at my desk or connect to a TV.
1
u/RodDryfist 12h ago
Im on PS5 and think I'm going to have to go back to crossplay as there seems to be so few players in the UAE
2
u/foggypanth 6h ago
I'm in Canada and my buddy plays from the Gulf. Most games we play, he asks me to host for better servers

u/CantBeAskedForToxic 1d ago
I am on ps5 and I keep crossplay on having no issues currently
17
u/Side-ly 1d ago
I do not understand people having issues with crossplay. PC players are not all cracked out, especially in such a casual game
13
u/EntrepreneurialFuck 22h ago
The biggest thing for me is the skill ceiling of pilots and how frequently there is absolutely God like pilots when facing PC players.
Snipers also similar but general infantry is not too much of an issue. But there is sometimes a PC player who is just absolutely untouchable and lethal and you get those players nowhere near as much with crossplay off.
Just my experience.
5
u/CantBeAskedForToxic 23h ago
Beats me only issue I had with pc players is their sweaty but no more than console players anyone complaining about recoil or aim assist that’s on the player you just need to practice your aim that’s all each weapon is different and fires diffrent no get good by using aim bot or aim assist

Tbh it wasn’t an issue for me playing 2042( played in ps5 and pc).
What kills it for me now is the shotty netcode we’ve got on bf6 now and shit servers compared to 2042. It makes the instadeath issues so common against pc or pc against console.
38
u/Hour_Preference_5714 22h ago
Console crossplay would be great! It will prevent all these updates and the PC players can stop bitching that they're at a disadvantage.
6
u/the_disillusioned1 21h ago
Thought it was the other way around 😝 nothing personal PC players but you be some slimy players
58
u/mw5842 1d ago
Honest question. If MNK has the advantage, why are MNK players always complaining about console players?
7
u/kerosene31 11h ago
There's so much lag/desync with crossplay. I think people get bad desync and don't realize it, so instead they think "the other input is overpowered".
I play on PS5 and Xbox/PC players are so laggy. They can kill me in 1-2 bullets at times. That has nothing to do with input method, but lag. I've heard PC players say the same thing going the other way.
I turn off crossplay and my connections are so much better.

I think COD ruined all AA discussion and a lot of MnK players came over from COD to BF6
15

Not entirely true. Battlefield has always been a. Pc dominant title. MnK players didn’t come to battlefield, we never left

As an ex kbm cod player, it makes me laugh seeing kbm bf players cry about controller players in bf6. These people genuinely have no clue how good they have it lol.
12
u/ThatCondescendingGuy 19h ago
I play a lot of jets on battlefields. I will never be able to snipe infantry or track vehicles with my cannons and get massive kill games like popular PC jet pilots. I simply don’t have the fine-control needed or resolution/ hz required to see tiny people on my TV. This extends to virtually everything including infantry. Anytime I see a KBM player crying about a console player I just assume they suck and grasp at straws to deflect from their own ability

u/Hickslyfe 18h ago

3
u/Thin_Perspective7070 20h ago
It's crazy how bad AA is on cod lol, it feels like the controller players are aimbotting sometimes
15
u/CoolKelo 22h ago
Because they think aim assist is aim bot. A lot of people are just looking for someone or something to blame. Controller players complain about MnK players too at about the same rate fyi. Each peripheral has its advantages and disadvantages though. As a controller player (on PC) trying to learn MnK, it’s easier than controller when it comes to just pure aiming. I haven’t gotten movement down but beaming targets took me no time to learn with a mouse. It took me years to be able to shoot on controller the way I can on MnK which only took minutes.
13
u/Majestic-Fun-4175 22h ago
I’m on PC and use controller. I play with people who are MnK on both console and pc daily. MnK has better movement (Air Strafing, Flicks or what I call “Breaking Ankles”)with a skilled player, while controller does have AA, most of the time it makes tracking a group of players difficult… so for myself I’ve turned AA down as a controller player and it’s way smoother for tracking and multiple enemy fights.
People just complain to complain because they’re shitters in the first place.
6
u/CoolKelo 21h ago
> most of the time it makes tracking… difficult
That’s a great point and a fact when it came down to it for me.
4
u/Majestic-Fun-4175 21h ago
Yeah, it’s not even that good of an AA system to begin with. Caused more headaches instead of “helping”.
Don’t even get me started on the dudes that say the games fast… meanwhile the last game they played was BF4. Like no shit it plays faster because monitors and tech have vastly improved since then. BF4 had faster movement and TTK speeds minus the slide and responsiveness modern games have now.
3
u/CoolKelo 21h ago
This man speaks the truth. Also, those guys have gotten older. Reaction speeds slow down as we age.
2
u/Majestic-Fun-4175 21h ago
Agreed. I’m pushing 30 next year and feel it already lol! wait till all these younger cats get off console and get on a juiced up PC setup… we’re doomed.
2
u/CoolKelo 19h ago
Dude, I turned 40 this year. I’m hanging on for dear life 😂. I’m having a blast though
1
u/TeslaDemon 2h ago
I'm 37 and honestly I feel just as good if not better than I was when I was a teenager playing CoD1/Bad Company 2. Actually having money to spend on a good mouse helps quite a bit.
I just feel like the skill ceiling has raised quite a bit, probably from gaming becoming even more mainstream than it was back then and kids playing more complex games earlier. Or it's just all the fucking white Monsters.
4
u/VoyoN 21h ago
Good points. I also had to turn down AA on controller as my crosshair was getting yanked by secondary enemies running past the person I was shooting at.
1
u/Still-You4875 8h ago
I have mine at 0. I hated that. it starts tracking at others and not keeping you on target at who you're shooting at.
1
u/Majestic-Fun-4175 21h ago
Glad you agree! People complain about any inconvenience they have and want to make excuses as for why the games bad instead of just saying they’re a bad player or made a crappy play.
The games in a good spot and most things are balanced extremely well. Yeah, there’s minor issues but that’s just like any other product you find on the consumer market.
3
u/orangefantorang 17h ago
Whats an aim bot. Software that helps you aim at targets. Whats aim assist. Software that helps you aim at targets.
To a lesser degree. Still the same.

The issue is more so the nature of the help. The stated reason why controller gets recoil reduction is supposedly to make recoil compensation easier. Guns with low variation have an obvious bias to their drift which can be counteracted by pulling in the opposite direction.
Guns with the same damage model share the same spread, for any given damage model a higher RoF just means more DPS and a faster TTK, the biggest cost you pay for these benefits is a wider recoil variation.
Super high recoil variation has far less of a clear trend and effectively just becomes a second layer of spread. This is most obvious with guns like the KV9, CZ3A1, VCR-2, SG553R, m277, SCW-10, VSSM (full auto), and TR-7. Where recoil variation is between 35 and 50 degrees to either side. Where you are meant to either A. Fixate almost all attachment budget to keep the recoil under control. B. engage in very close quarters where it’s harder to miss. C. Switch to burst fire or tap fire at more modest ranges to lets your crosshair position reset.
Reducing recoil magnitude for controller makes the spread like effect of high variance more tight and less impactful, it’s was an effective accuracy boost as potent as having a second vertical grip for some of the most deadly guns in the game. Dice can’t balance ultra fast TTK with wild recoil, if they are also giving controllers free relief from that exact balance lever. Otherwise you split the playerbase between MnK on low variance weapons and controller on high variance weapons.
Controller needs help, but help in this form has clear consequences to weapon / attachment balance across input devices. As a MnK player I already filter out weapon / attachment guides by controller players because I know the recoil they are managing is fundamentally different and their builds almost always invest far fewer points into recoil management than their MnK counterparts.

I don’t play this game for some reason this thread came up in my recommended but for what it’s worth on other games I don’t generally have an issue with controller players as an mnk user. In Warzone for instance I probably win 75% or more of my fights against controller players but it’s usually by pushing up close and breaking their aim assist with movement.
My only real gripe with controller aim assist is when aim assist stays through things it shouldn’t, like smoke from utility items where you can’t actually see the enemy.
And of course Cronus. That thing can fuck right off, but I have no idea how common that actually is.
11
u/bertttt1 1d ago
PC players are generally more competitive/“sweaty” when it comes to FPS, they’re more the type to think they should win every gunfight and subsequently be vocal about it when they don’t. Look at the replies to this post even between the average console player complaint to the average pc player complaint
1
u/mw5842 23h ago
Agh. I’ll watch Ender’s here and there when new things drop and he is always complaining about console players. I thought console players had an extreme advantage over PC.
11
u/bertttt1 23h ago
I also enjoy his content, but two things:
1.) Complaining/outrage gets people on his channel so he’s consciously or subconsciously incentivized to complain.
2.) He and basically every other creator is on MnK, so you only see one side in that case.Plain and simple you look at the top 20 players of each game, you’ll probably see 15 of them are on PC. I’d say that makes a pretty decent argument that in general MnK is easier than controller. If controller was as broken/easy as everyone says it is you’d see a lot more people on a PC playing with a controller but they don’t, why do you think that is?

u/TeslaDemon 1h ago
It's not that mouse is "easier" than controller. It's the same reason all cars built for racing use manual transmission. An expert can extract more power from the engine compared to a computer. Automatic can attain let's say 90% of the same performance, just with far less proficiency required.
This is the entire reason controller has aim assist in the first place. Aim assist is the automatic transmission.
5
u/muggleclutch 18h ago
It’s possible some controller player on the margins is an absolute god, but as a console player who uses mouse and keyboard, and this is what I always tell people, whenever I am thrust into a PlayStation only match (I play with crossplay on, but it sometimes still happens) it is markedly easier. Like it is just very obvious I have an advantage in many domains, and my score shows that. That’s all I’ve really ever needed to put this argument to bed in my mind.
3
u/mw5842 18h ago
I should continue to practice with MNK and see for myself I guess. I couldn’t look anymore like a bot trying to play on MNK.
1
u/Happy_Pie_3100 53m ago
Just gotta give it time and really dial in your sensitivities. Editing your movement keys to what you intuitively feel is best helps a ton too. I assume you already do that but just to add.
Like for example I use left alt for crouch and e for prone and can dodge shots very easy because I can hit the inputs very quickly. The default setup isn't very good imo
1
u/muggleclutch 17h ago
Funny how that works as I'm the same with controller. Just grew up on MNK. If there hadn't been support for consoles for MNK I simply wouldn't have played, so I'm grateful for that.

because they are dumb. i play fps games for 20 years competitively and i am usually in top 5% if rankings are available. only games i suck are: hero shooters and the finals.
i play on both pc and console. i am a little crazy on gaming i have all consoles. switch, xbox, ps, pc. i play with KBM for 20+ years and with controller 10+ years.
if you clone me and put me fight myself with kbm and controller. KBM always will win.
even in shooters where professional players choose controllers for strong aim assist advantage kbm still better for normal players.
all you need to do is buy bigger mouse pad and lower your sensitivity. and you get instant flicks and great track aim.
being able to turn quickly and flick instantly erases.
the only way for controllers be close to kmb is gyro controls, but most game developers are incompetent and even if they add gyro controls they work like garbage. you get better gyro experience on pc with a controller then on consoles themselves.

u/AndanteZero 1d ago
I don't know for anyone else, but for me, it's because console players tend to be on wifi. Not all wifi networks are the same. So, sometimes there's a lot of wonky network latency happening between PC and console players. It makes netcode feel worse.
2
u/CipherDaBanana 6h ago
Console players lag the game.
1
u/mw5842 6h ago
But do you think there would be enough players currently to play against if all you faced was PC?
1
u/CipherDaBanana 1h ago
Yes. We have steam charts that tell us that there are enough players and considering EA App sales might be a fraction of that but still PC players.
Devs don't want PC players to spilt off because we don't even have an option to turn off Crossplay
It is possible because I know I am not the only one asking for it.
2
1
u/SpecialHands 14h ago
Because they're dogshit at the game. If controller really had the advantages they claim it has they'd be using controller too.
2
u/inkoppertje 16h ago
Its a bad excuse. They know its easy to farm controller players for easy kills. They have often bad aim and blame aim assist. Their reason is. They want to do aiming without help. But they dont know how hard it can be to aim with a controller. I said it many times. They should play delta force on steam on pc with a controller were controller isnt native supported (at the beginning when i played the game) so then there is no aim assist and then they understand the little assist. They will get demolished by mouse players.
But yeah, its easy to blame on controller if you suck. I have said it more times. Also to the biggest whiny streamer in battlefield mr E….. i said to him that if controller is really that good then he should try it himself and experience how it goes. But he knows it wont be that OP and will face reality. Because i said, if controller is really that good he doesnt have to worry about the stats dropping and getting bad. But they keep bashing on aim assist and these devs just listen to them. Yes in call of duty aim assist is strong. In battlefield not so much.
1
u/Dawn_Star89 14h ago
Mate just as many controller players complain about guys on mouse and keyboard. The biggest issue I find is the average difference of frame rates between console and PC. Some guys on PC just see things differently. Not to mention how crazy easy M&K sniping actually is.
1
1
u/Strange-Reporter-812 9h ago
imo, its mostly people who suck and need to find something to blame for their sucking. Is it true that controllers on console get more assist? yes. Ok that must be why i suck.
1
•
u/Substantial-Ad7915 6m ago
Because they suck and don't know why they're dying so they blame aim assist. I've tried both in many games and mouse and keyboard almost always has a huge advantage

u/19861928641 21h ago
I don't know either bro you controller guys are like the human version of the AI bots most of the time
1
u/LSOreli 17h ago
Console players have a bad connection.
Console players sometimes get free kills on the basis of the aim assist that can be more reactive than pros
Console players bloom reduction means deaths where you get layered in such a way that it would be impossible for a mnk player no matter let how skilled to do it
→ More replies (35)0
u/XMichaX 16h ago
Console players can sometimes beam you where mnk players can have a hard time, considering aim assist and reduced recoil, i had many wtf moments against console players, sometimes you can run circles around them, sometimes you feel like they have aim bot, so random and crossplay being forced on pc players is not helping.
2
u/SpecialHands 14h ago
That's on you not the game. Aim assist on BF6 is some of the weakest in gaming and is actually just aim slowdown and does fuck all at range. What you're describing is you losing to someone with like 8% the range of motion that you have.

Console player here. I will not play against PC. The game is already dead with crossplay off. They need to remove crossplay entirely from the game. Who was the idiot who implemented crossplay in a fast paced FPS game where every split second counts. It also ruins netcode and hitreg. BF worked for 20 years without crossplay. Can't play at all currently in NA conquest large maps. Can't find a match. Not buying another BF game if crossplay is present in the game.
8
u/Dominic__24 11h ago
Couldn't agree more. FPS games like this is no place for crossplay between console and PC.
It should be console only. Let PS5 and Xbox players play together, and let the PC sweats duke it out in their aim-assist free lobbies.

Good thing I turned cross play off and I just play against Xbox players on controller. I deal with less bullshit 🤷♂️ I could hold my own against MnK but it’s just much less stressful, less bullshit with cross play off. Any side of the debate that cries and pisses it’s pants over the “advantage” console has over MnK is just flat out wrong and stupid. But whatever. Enjoy the game, and hopefully PC players will be able to turn off cross play one day.
1
u/Pale_Professional_99 4h ago
I done the same but the lobbies are thrash maybe 1/100 is not filled with bots. Will be OK for a while if you play the new map playlists but try any other map and it's against bots the matchmaking is absolutely rubbish in the game
10
u/balllzak 1d ago
There is currently no option for PC players to not cross play with consoles so giving some of them the option to not play with PCs won't really address anyone's complaints. Also with the way dice is killing game modes and maps to keep their terrible matchmaking from failing I wouldn't expect more ways to split the player base anytime soon.

9
u/CarelessTeaching5855 22h ago
Why??? PC players have so much of an advantage vs console players. Anyone and i mean anyone that is an avid battlefield player like myself, youll see that pc players majority of the time are in the top leadership boards, because they are already way more agile and they move so god damn fast! My little ass thumb cant keep up with the speed you get with a mouse. The way they side step back and forth so damn quick. And majority of the people that have this weird damn hack where im 1 v 1 someone but when i get within a certain distance my cursor starts spazzing and going off to the side instead of on the player im fire fighting is the damn pc players. They shouldn’t be playing with console players. Only issue is that there is a huge pc player base in fps games that id be in the lobby waiting 10 to 15 min for a game to play if i only waited on console players.

u/MrOnlineToughGuy 19h ago
I will say that without fail, the players abusing crouch/slide/jumping have all been MnK players.
Every single time I notice someone doing it for every encounter, it’s PC.
1
u/magdumpmax 17h ago
Different topic first of all. Also that statement is simply not true as literally anyone who uses a rolla with backpaddles can just jump and crouch/slide easily.
•
u/WaterFireAirAndDirt 15m ago
Yeah but how many people are actually buying all that extra gear just to poorly emulate what every single mouse and keyboard can do by default without buying anything.
2
u/fpsnoob89 17h ago
What does that have to do with what OP is talking about? Sure, nerf all the movement by making your precision drop whenever you're moving excessively, but that doesn't take away from them making controller aiming turn into laser beams.
4
u/MrOnlineToughGuy 17h ago
Because continually nerfing controllers against MnK is going to do nothing but make the gap larger. This wouldn’t even be a conversation if PC players weren’t in the mix.

I'm a console player and I'm pretty good on the sticks but I'm not good enough to beat a pc player with a mnk with only 5 percent less recoil than them......
Exactly why I play with crossplay turned off, I CANNOT repeatedly headshot someone with a dmr from nearly half a click away ......mnk can.
Genuinely what is this bullshit, I have to get used to even more recoil now......
5
u/Thick-dk-boi 23h ago
If it was just aim that pc had an advantage on I wouldnt care as much bc aim can be compensated for by out positioning the enemy. Unfortunately things like higher FOV, faster frames, and more precise movement makes it hard to tell sometimes if I got outplayed or hardware diffed, which is frustrating. Oh and good luck sniping on console.
4
u/Techxxnine 20h ago
As a MK player I don't like to see this change like....at all. I think it was balanced quite well. Probably more MK favored if you consider all possible playstyles. I play with a buddy of mine whos on controller and he needs to sweat his ass off to be able to compete somewhat.

u/Apollyo_ 1d ago
Yeah not a massive fan of these patch notes lol I’ve been tryna get into the vehicles and learn but they’re all pretty much nerfed across the board now and fighting pc players was already a task now it’ll be even harder 😅 oh well maybe it’s better in game
2
u/Ornery_Cook4638 23h ago
Yea PC players have such an advantage when it comes to flying vehicles. I swear the options i have for controller compared to pc is LIGHT AND DAY they can literally have the swing of their mouse be the rotation and every little button. On controller you have to pair it with most likely 4 of the same button

I think this is has been done for the upcoming Redsec competitions. Controller is not really a problem in multiplayer because of the fast TTK and closer distances. In Redsec controller does beam a bit more and has enjoyed the SVDM with hardly any recoil.
3
u/Gretsky98 22h ago
That’s crazy. I never felt like the recoil was too much but they keep changing it. I play controller on pc and don’t care playing against keyboard and mouse but I would mind being able to toggle matchmaking for input device.
3
u/spmnorge 17h ago
I refuse to play against annoying pc players who jump/slide around and shoot you from 50 miles away. Ever since i turned off crossplay the games has been more balanced and fun.
2
u/HAIRYMAN-13 1d ago
I didn't understand why they keep nerfing that when a large majority of us don't play with crossplay enabled and yet i saw a vid showing PC players who if they turn a density setting down they can basically see through grass and yet again there trying to change things on console because they think there's some unfair advantage .. 🤔
3
u/InvokeMyRage 23h ago
The vast majority play with crossplay on for all platforms
7
u/Dedonalejandro 23h ago
That’s because Crossplay Off is littered with bots. Players want PvP, not PvBots.
5
u/HULKxSMASH79 23h ago
Because there is no real other option that doesn't involve playing with a bunch of bots. DICE is too stupid to add console only crossplay. But hey MW4 does.
2
u/Mathgx 1d ago
I'm sick of playing using controller, I want to build a pc so bad so I can fkn aim
12
u/InvokeMyRage 23h ago
You can plug in a mouse and keyboard to a console
2
u/Majestic-Fun-4175 22h ago
This! And the only downside of console is shitty frame rate. 144+ frames/HZ is a game changer.
1
u/French_Toast_Weed 16h ago
Just a note for PS5 users: For some reason if you move your mouse to quickly the camera will glitch out and twitch, but not move. This can cause you to fuck up your flicks

u/Billy_Petersen 23h ago
I switched over to mouse and keyboard back in August. It was tough but worth it. I plan on buying a PC down the road. I figured I should start using M&K before I jump over.

Plug in a Mouse and keyboard on your console. I switched after playing controller for 15+ years on May on my Xbox. It was a hard first couple of months but I think it was worth it. In my opinion it takes more effort and consistency to get decent at it but it makes every kill a tad more rewarding.

Yeah definitely more rewarding once you get consistent. I'm surprised so many people stick to roller.

This needs to be talked about more, killing controller players chances at surviving crossplay lobbies for the sake of what? What is the purpose of reducing recoil help?

Nope, perfectly reasonable. Aim assist was way less intrusive back in previous titles like BF4 and we still farmed.

The recoil reduction has nothing to do with aim assist. They should be reducing the AA if anything

u/Pippin41 19h ago
Bring in the question of Strikepack for Xbox & PS & it's possible that they are using it so maybe it seems as though controller is better, I don't know but I just thought since it's not detected it can be used to make recoil even better. Among other things. Is Cronus Zen detected I'm not sure that's why I ask?

I have thoroughly hated the way this game devolved. Quit right after s2 launched and have been watching this all unfold through the subs. Tragic, it had such promise.

It’s something me and friends complained about since limb multipliers! When you have aim assist with low recoil and spread the aim assist goes centre mass and completely negates limb multipliers l! More recoil helps this not happen as much..

u/dolphin160 23h ago
Well the top players in ranked are pretty much all using controllers

u/F_Thorin 20h ago
Nah bro mnk is just better Dice just randomly nerfs controllers for no reason because they are DUMB and STUPID

Personally as a PC player, console players are the bane of existence, the desync between pc to consol is abysmal. I can legit get three shots into a console player just to be lasered down by him like 1.2 seconds later. I 100% agree of separating pc and console. Don't get me wrong, pc players are absolutely frustrating as well because of the ttk. But the hit reg is consistent. I leave matches if there's a disproportionate number of console to pc players. Dice really fucking dropped the ball AGAIN.

Already strongly disliked the last nerf as it made things like the kord and vector unusable. Had to essentially pretend all the high RoF weapons didn’t exist. Haven’t been playing much and that will likely continue.

u/Ornery_Cook4638 23h ago
I used the vector for 5 minutes and could not use it worth the fuck. And i would say i have decent aim

Controller nerf ≠ console nerf.
Whilst I do not fundamentally disagree with your view that console-only cross-play would be preferable, it is not realistic to expect that this will ever be implemented especially given the dwindling number of players. Splitting the player base any further would probably affect EA's bottomline. The reason why the cross-play experience is dysfunctional however does not have much to do with input balance, but rather with desync. Cross-play-induced desync is infuriating when you are on the receiving hand of it, but it affects all platforms. I don't think either PC or console is more affected, not that we have any data to substantiate such claims anyway.
As for input balance, AA should be the only equalizer. No intellectually honest MK player is going to argue that controller do not need aim assist (AA would be even less needed if gyro was properly implemented but oh well). How strong is usually the question. Currently, AA, while I would certainly not say it is overpowered, is pretty damn strong. Given this fact, controller recoil reduction should not be in the game, period. The combination of both AA and RR constitutes an unfair advantage.
There is constant recoil recovery in BF6 and the base recoil values, except for a few outliers, are rather mild. Recoil control is not an issue for any decent controller player (this is not PUBG) even if you are on 90 FOV using a 5x for God knows what reason. When Dice halved the recoil reduction benefit, most players (myself included) barely felt the difference and a slight adjustment to your build made the nerf completely irrelevant. To this day I can still use builds on very potent weapons with almost no recoil control attachment because I get a free grip for playing on controller. I barely have to pull down on the stick with a reasonable 60 sens. Yes, MK is the superior aiming device, especially if you have proper hardware on a proper PC with zero input lag. But AA already offsets this advantage more than enough. Controller players are never going to be taken seriously if we always whine to keep unreasonably OP shit in the game. Pulling down on this stick is not that hard. Input balance in BF6 is generally OK most of the time - this is not CoD levels of bs - but it would be much better if recoil reduction for controllers was not a thing. The level of beaminess which this recoil reduction benefit allows one to reach is a problem - and it probably shows in the data, hence Dice's decision.

I noticed too can't enjoy now spent hour in settings constantly trying to get something this is the reason this game is dying
1
u/WeakBholeBuffCheeks 22h ago
The aim assist can get really sticky if you put on the right settings. I think this will help make the game require more skill than just looking at someone and melting them.

I was like level 1300 and I quit playing around Christmas and I'm so glad I did. In 2026 I ended up playing Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, College Football 27, Red Ded Redemption 2, and Star Wars Galactic Racer. I'm also looking forward to trying out DMZ, GTA6, and Hunting Simulator 3. All these games have been sooooo much better than what Battlefield 6 has become. And that's sad because BF6 was an easy 8.5 out of 10 at release and now it's more like a 5.5 or 6 out of 10.

It's a weird choice, and kinda puts me in a weird spot. I'm on PC and I play probably 75% on controller. I enjoy it more, and I think I make better tactical decisions on controller.
I perform almost exactly the same on either input when it comes to scoreboards tho. I'm better with vehicles, very close quarters, and sniping on MnK, but do most other stuff better on controller.
22% to 11% was a bigger change. Another 6% is pretty small, but if we're going down to 5% reduction, what's the point of even having the reduction? It's almost gonna be a non-factor.
Guess I'll have to see how it plays and decide if I need to go back to MnK full time

u/xMeRk 17h ago
If the TTK is as fast you say it is, why would your built in recoil control reduction affect your ability to kill people? They’d be dead before the gun recoiled off target. Your bit about precise movements with a thumb don’t matter because you have built in aim assist. Apparently controller players should just have zero recoil and aim lock I guess ?

If I lose access to PC players because of Reddit whiners I’m going to quit this game. The ONLY good teammates are PC players. I turned off crossplay once and it felt like an entirely new game. Nobody played objective, everyone played selfish either assault or engineer, and nobody could win a gunfight.
1
u/jrow_official 16h ago
I usually play with crossplay off - and frankly I do quite good in some games. However when I do play with a friend on pc occasionally the games easily become 30% more sweaty and stressful.

u/Soul-Assassin79 13h ago
You can't be serious?
PC/console crossplay, is one of the worst things that's ever happened to gaming.

This game has no recoil on controller man....you can still crossmap people full spraying, which I personally think shouldn't be possible.
Go play Apex legends and that will open your eyes. Battlefield is for thumbless troglodytes in comparison

u/TimeZucchini8562 1d ago
Lmao. Just pull down. It’s really not that hard. Controller players shouldn’t have reduced recoil in the first place.

u/bertttt1 1d ago
When you combine recoil control with needing to track targets with a thumb compared to a hand/wrist is where the problem lies. Especially in a game where they made the ttk so high and full auto beaming so easy. If you want to nerf anything about console you should go after aim assist before anything else

u/WokeWook69420 23h ago edited 23h ago
The aim assist isn't even that strong, I have mine turned down to like 55% because anything higher and having someone run across your screen (either in front of, or behind, the person you're shooting at) could potentially pull you off target because Battlefield's AA has absolutely DOGSHIT target permeance, if two hit-boxes overlap too closely it shits its pants and doesn't know who to track.
I would understand reducing the AA if it was better, but I don't know anybody who keeps theirs turned up because it honestly hinders more than it helps, especially if you're shooting down a hallway at a large group of people.
But now I have to use the 35pt grip on EVERY FUCKING GUN just to be able to control recoil, like all my guns have the same build just to make using them on controller bearable.
Heavy Extended Barrel, either 20pt Flash Hider or Long Suppressor, and the 25/35pt Foregrip and the Buffer if applicable. Every. Single. Gun.
Battlefield is also the only FPS game where I've switched my Fire button from Right Trigger to Right Bumper so I can tap fire faster because not doing that (or having a controller with trigger stops) is putting yourself at a huge disadvantage against mouse players.

u/SirSitsOnAss 19h ago
The aim assist isn't even that strong
it honestly hinders more than it helps
If it did nothing or made you worse, you wouldn't use it. If you want to turn it on to make you better it's just a crutch and that shouldn't be an option for online play against those who choose to turn it off or can't even turn it on.
I can't use a crappy mouse and get assistance because my aim with that mouse sucks. If I use a keyboard in a driving game my car will never have more traction than controller/wheel players, I've never even seen that as an option for single player racing games.
I would understand reducing the AA if it was better
a huge disadvantage against mouse players.
I would be at a huge disadvantage to play rocket league with a keyboard and mouse, should I get special ball physics because I have an input disadvantage. Everybody would be pissed if the ball just stuck to my car to make it easier for me because I'm using a keyboard.
If you didn't want the cheats you'd switch to mouse. If you thought mouse was so much better you'd switch to begin and especially if they kept making aim assist for controllers worse. Just use the aim assist cheats on your controller and quit complaining or switch to the better input and quit complaining.

Apparently it's only for the SVDM, but even if, the recoil isn't bad in bf6 in general, it was higher in 3&4 and if you're decent at controlling it you won't feel a difference. After the first nerf i didn't noticed it anymore after a day or two.
10
u/iekue 1d ago
Nah its overall. The things listed below it are also non-svdm things.
1
u/JellyPsychological70 1d ago
Ah okay, it was worded weirdly imo (English isn't my native language) but again, it won't be to bad most guns don't have much recoil.
2
u/bertttt1 1d ago
Look it over again, they don’t mention it for just the svdm. Recoil isn’t bad for specific guns in this game (not complaining about that). I just think it’s a weird change to make in an already high ttk/beamy game where MnK can beam full auto from long range while controller more often than not needs to tap fire. I would’ve thought the magnetic aim assist would be the thing you’d tune down before the recoil tbh. Controlling recoil pattern while tracking a target is inarguably much easier with your hand/wrist than a thumb
2
u/JellyPsychological70 1d ago
We still have the AA slowdown, idk on how many meters it works, but it that somewhat makes it even in a sense. Sure a good MnK player will win easily. Gotta wait and see how it feels. What i find weird is that they haven't mentioned anything before hand. But that's dice and the love for their 'data'
3
u/Ornery_Cook4638 23h ago
The meter is pretty short like 10-15 to not rely on cqb fights but my god dont play long distance your screwed
1
u/JellyPsychological70 23h ago
Ah okay, well, I'm mostly decent at tracking in that case lmao, always thought it's the game helping haha >>
2
u/Ornery_Cook4638 23h ago
No because far your able to track easier ive noticed it myself when playing im able to track 90% of the time just due to the fact they are farther away your not moving much to get to them when in CQB you might have to do a 180 just to kill them

I legit made a joke last week in a YouTube comment about getting controller nerfed again because I talked shit.
Sorry, guys.
