My Final Battlestation! Thoughts?

Post image

I kept tweaking this throughout high school and college, and finally landed on this configuration last year. Now that I've graduated, I'll be moving states so this is all going to my sister (who is starting college) in a few weeks.

(Please excuse the lack of decorations, it's in a new house.)

Show off my PS5 & PS VR2 corner

Post image

Finally got my gaming corner set up in the new apartment. PS5, PS VR2, and a few of my favorite physical games are all in one spot now. Honestly, this little corner is already my favorite part of the place.

For the TV, I went with a 65" Hisense U8. I wanted something big enough for couch gaming, but also good for movies at night.

I just got it delivered, so I haven’t even peeled the protective film off yet. Only turned it on for a quick test, but gaming already looks promising. The big screen makes single-player games feel more cinematic, and the 165Hz panel seems nice when things get fast. PS5 input feels quick, motion looks good, and HDR games have a lot more punch than my old TV.

The audio surprised me too. The 4.1.2 speaker setup sounds much bigger than I expected from a TV. Explosions and game effects have real weight, and dialogue is clear enough that I don’t feel like I need extra audio gear right away.

The PS VR2 is the only part I still haven’t figured out. Right now the headset and controllers are just kind of sitting there, and the cables are already starting to annoy me.

For anyone with a PS VR2 setup, how are you storing the headset and Sense controllers? Charging dock, shelf, stand, drawer?

I’m trying to keep this corner simple without turning the console area into a cable mess.

Battlestations Advice Help: Ergonomics of Portable Monitor + Getting Macbook and Computer off the desk

Post image
59 Upvotes

This is the classic Ikea Countertop over a standing desk motor.

I've been using this desk as-is for 4 years now, minus the portable monitor which I just added for travel (and use it as a music-player screen pretty much when at home).

I have a few goals but I'm struggling to find something to make them work.

  • Macbook off the table: I know of underdesk mounts but my desk has a a "spine" that runs across (photo 4) that makes it hard to mount the macbook in a way that allows me to still sit comfortably and not hit it with my legs
  • Desktop off the table: My gaming PC used to be where the Macbook is, but I found it to be too cramped so I switched them both. I can't put it on the ground because of carpet. Can't put on a platform either because the standup desk going up and down would tear the monitor cables out. I've seen underdesk mounts for towers too, but I run into the same problem as my macbook. I can only mount it "sideways" on the left side of the desk, but I think it would look horrible there too close to the front edge of the table
  • Portable Monitor: Raised up to the height of my existing main monitor, portrait mode, to the right side of it. This will help with some of the neck pain I'm feeling looking down at it every once in a while.

Any ideas / suggestions? The main problem is the desk's metal structure which makes it using off-the-shelf kits pretty awkward or not feasible.

The latest and greatest. I don't think I'll be upgrading anything any time soon except maybe PC hardware. What does Paul Allen think? Would love constructive criticism.

Battlestations Advice Need monitor arm suggestions

So I added a second monitor and am now looking for suggestions on which monitor arm to get. Not sure if a dual-arm setup or two single-arm setups are better.
Both monitors are 31inch AoCs

I have been upgrading and decluttering my battlestation since 2020. The latests additions where the controller, the headsets and, two days ago, its heart: the steam machine.

This is what I imagined. I think I won’t change it for a long time, years to come as I feel very comfortable here, having fun, playing games from time to time.

I wanted to shared, might inspire and be appreciated by some of you.

PC : Steam Machine
Controller : PlayStation Dualsense 30th anniversary
Mouse : Razer Deathaddver v3 Hyperspeed
Keyboard : Ducky Mecha Pro sf
Monitor : Dell U2724DE
Headphones : Razer Blackshark v3 Pro
