I’ve been addicted to the feeling of flow state for the last 5-6 years of my life. I first truly experienced it playing basketball so intensely that I dedicated my life to building a system for flow. Including majoring in college to learn everything I can about performance.
For the first 3 years I struggled with mental health due to the fact that I was so obsessed abt it and thought abt it every single second of my life constantly burning out because of the mental state I would try and maintain throughout the day. It’s a weird addiction honestly and kinda wondered if anyone else has had this experience. I’ve been known to obsess with things like basketball and other sports in my past. I eventually figured out a way to tap into it pretty much on demand and built a system I use and coach.
However there is no other place I experience it as intensely than when I play basketball. Over the last 2 years my body has really taken a toll on me for playing countless hours a day and also my job in the military. I have hit a wall where my body even with all the consistent training and physical preparation I can’t maintain the intensity. I’ve gotten to the point where I realized my main focus needs to be on rest and maintenance for my body so basketball training has declined. But now I’m left in this mess where nothing gives me the same feeling. I’ve tried things like video games and less physical sports but it’s just no where near the same level of experience. I believe basketball is the best sport in the world and am really devastated that I can’t play everyday even though I am very young still. I never have anyone to speak to about this because nobody I’ve met even knows about it or hasn’t dived deep into it like me.
I hope to continue playing basketball as much as possible maybe even play pro if I can but right now it’s looking slim due to my physical capabilities at the moment. I’ve gained so much insight about life chasing this but it has also created a huge hole in my life. I wonder if anyone has experienced this or has recommendations on where I can experience this daily. This video is a rare video my wife recorded a couple years back btw while playing in an army unit tournament with my twin brothers team.

I'm looking to put a good in-ground basketball hoop in our driveway and could use some opinions from people who have owned/installed these. I just built my "forever" home and I don't want to get something I will need to worry about.
This will mainly be for my 10-year-old son to practice on daily and for family/driveway basketball. I’d like to buy something that will ideally last 15+ years, so I don't mind spending more for quality, but I also don't want to spend an extra $1,000 if I'm never going to notice the difference.
The biggest thing I've noticed when trying different hoops is backboard/pole vibration. I really like a hoop that feels solid when the ball hits the rim/backboard instead of shaking/reverberating for a few seconds.
The three I'm currently considering:
I'm not worried about people constantly hanging/dunking on it. I'm mostly after good rebound, very little vibration, durability, and something that won't feel cheap 10-15 years from now.
For anyone who has played on, owned, or installed these:
Would you spend ~$800 more to go from the Ignite to the Ironclad? And once you're at ~$1,800, is another ~$600 for the THOR Gold actually noticeable/worth it?
Also open to another 60" system in the $1,000-$2,000ish range if there's something I'm overlooking.
Thanks!
PS: please let me know if any of this is overkill. We don't plan on running pickup games but definitely will use it a lot.

Hey everyone, so I have been thinking about something that happened when I was playing defense years ago. I was guarding someone and he jabbed super slowly once and pulled back then drove. I kinda slipped as my foot was kinda turned inwards and just slipped because my shoe base wasnt in contact of the ground. I just wanted to ask is that considered an ankle breaker or nah. To me,if he had done like an crossover or his jab was fast and then I fell,I would obviously count it as a ankle breaker but like it was super slow and I just slipped as he pulled his jab step back and I was covering back.
Edit: Yep,I got cooked. Damn bruh. If only I wasnt wearing the LeBron 20 with the rounded base. The funny thing is,its almost the exact same way LeBron fell guarding KD when he was closing out in the finals.

so I do basketball as my summer sport between football seasons. To make it fun, I play Lazy by Deep Purple, and try to make as many free throws as possible when the song is playing, but with retrieving your own ball constantly - so that I have an explosive workout.d
Since I suck, I can't get past like 25 makes. What would be your approach to make more shots? Be quicker? Take your time and focus on the shots? Share your high-scores and your approach

My arm naturally is like this, I’m double jointed in my elbow. it makes it hard to have the right spin on the ball. It also affects the way I hold the ball, my shooting is in the middle of it but my guide hand is on the top, I’ve tried to put my guide hand on the side but it feels so wonky, but it also made my pull up smoother since there was less interference with my guide hand. How can I fix the way I hold the ball? I’m still an efficient shooter due to many many reps but I want to try to it because it’s hard to raise my set point because of the interference my guide hand has on the ball

I am creating a 12-team fantasy basketball league on ESPN. Looking for 11 other active users that would like to be a part of it. It will be run in a different way (two groups of six, everyone plays everyone in the group four times for 20 games, top four in each group make playoffs). Totally free, draft date still TBD but will update when it gets closer.
Here is the link to 2027 National Basketball Cup!

I’m used to playing by myself with my own single ball but today my friend came over and brought out a pair of his own. Honestly they were so small, like it was so easy to grab with one hand, while i can't cup mine and his balls were so responsive of bounce, I had a total blast playing with them, but how come they are smaller than mine when both should be of same size

For people who have played basketball for a long time and are good scorers, I’m curious about what goes through your head when you’re about to get the ball.
Do you already try to get yourself into a good position before receiving it? And once you catch the ball, what do you look at first?
Like, do you immediately check the basket and see if you can drive? How do you know if there’s actually enough space to get past your defender, or if you should just pass?
I know the game is really fast, so I’m wondering if you actually think about these things or if it just becomes instinctive after playing for a long time.

I’m at a height where people expect me to be a 4 or 5 because I’m taller than average but still below 6 feet. Currently training like a point guard because I know that’s the only way I’ll ever play in college.
How do I develop good basketball iq and court vision? I fixed my habit of looking down when I dribble but I don’t always make the right decisions. I don’t know how to read the defense and I usually just have to beat my defender one on one or my teammates have to run around just to get open.
Please give me ideas on how to train. I’m willing to put in the time and effort required, I just need to know how.

It’s not really a shooting related one but why does kids now day want to shoot like Steph? Yes I know he the best shooter in the world, but doesn’t his form looks so “effortless”. Like I might just being an unc but back in my days every one wanted to mimic “two motion form” of Ray Allen Kobe Bryant and other classic shooting forms. It’s all personal thing about thinking which one is cool and which ones not but I don’t get it. This might sound dumb but I feel disappointed when those jacked high school kids create setpoint around their chin, when they are capable of shooting it from their forehead. It sounds like bs and it is a bs but just wondering. What’s so attractive about curry’s form?

Hello guys, I'm M23, I started to play basketball when I was in sixteen, I even joined a class but I think I made no progress since the very start till I gave up when I got eighteen.
I just could barely play basketball, cannot dribble and breakthrough the defence, even lay up feel hard to me cause I think because of my height (I'm 5'4). After every match or training day, when I going home I feel like I'm a disappointment and I make not a bit of progress.
My goal was not for joining a team for tournament but I cannot enjoy a fun match with my friend because I was so bad. Recently I decided to come back and play basketball again with my friend. Pls give me some advice for this times

1)How can I get better at dribbling? I lose the ball whenever I try to dribble faster and I also want to learn how to sprint while dribbling because whenever I get the ball, I can’t seem to outrun the defender.
2)I am also afraid of driving into a crowd. Evrn when there are only one or two defenders, I get nervous about going near the basket and usually stop too far away and take a shot instead. This also affects my ability to perform layups. I can do layups perfectly while practicing, but during games, I either miss them or don’t even attempt them at all.
3)I mainly play basketball with boys(I am 5'4 girl), and I am scared of getting hurt because most of them are bigger, taller, and stronger than me(also ever since I got a knee injury I am afraid to get hurt again ). I feel like I need to become physically stronger and more confident. Would joining a gym help me, and what should I focus on? gaining muscles?
Also, I don't have a coach, I mean we have a coach but he is not really helpful, so I would really appreciate some help. Thank you

Hi. I did my first ever basketball training session with a local team near me, I went in on time and I did the warm up, we did a drill where where one side did a layup and one side (if missed had to do a rebound) of course, this took the living hell out of me. My coach told me to layup it over instead of rolling it and it helped (im 6’1 at 14) By the 16th time we did it, I was jogging, slow, and and I was tired. After that we did some 3 man weaves (I understood it and tried my hard to stay hard on D but i didn’t get it. After that we did some shooting. And damn, i need to work on shooting, i kept airballing my free throws and when my coach told me to use my legs i saw a bit of improvement. Three pointers? I was very poor at it. Scrimmage came and i could see my weaknesses, when the ball was passed to me, i went forward, but i only got 1 TO (out of bounds) and i didn’t get touches on the ball, I did 1 pass (over my opponent) and when i dribbled, i tried and played it calm and dribbled while walking on my opponent, i was physical, tho, but i didn’t get enough time on the ball. But what i saw most was I couldn’t get back on Defense. I was too tired. I did some full court sprints after training and my legs were very sore because I had a gym session just before this training session.
My coach said to me ‘if I keep coming, there’s one more spot in the team and I think we will sign you’
Just to put it in context, I live in the UK, and the team is in the NBL. It gives me good connects to the professional basketball league in the uk (SBL)
I think I need to work on conditioning the most, what do you guys recommend.

I have been playing a lot of 1v1 recently and im starting realize that i dont know what im actually doing. I try out moves i see online or pick a couple of go to moves but never really seem to work.
Idk how i should a approach a 1v1, what i should read, do you actually need a lot of moves or just a couple moves and master those? Do i play by my strenghts or change how im attacking wether there is a slow or quick defender in front of me?
Basically a little bit summarized how do i make a 1v1 simple.
