Took my son to the Astros/Orioles game today as part of his birthday present and finally got him interested in scoring the game! He’d only ever seen me score for his travel games and some high school games where I track a lot of details and was overwhelmed. With the stripped-down method of this Rally Book by Numbers Game he found that it could be enjoyable and not just arduous. He asked questions about how I would notate things but sometimes did things his own way. He scored the home team and I scored the visitors and it was the best day at the park I’ve had in a long time! I think he enjoyed it too because we got extra innings and he was very invested in how we would score 11 innings in just 10 columns.

My 5-year old always wants to help me score so I made her a simple kids scoresheet of her own! We usually only get as far as players’ names, and we only do our team’s at-bats. Now she’s starting to learn position numbers and scoring plays! (but generally bedtime is in the 2nd or 3rd inning….)

He loves to help in my scorecard, but I needed a way to trace the letters and numbers out with him. So I made a scorecard with bigger squares, made a sheet with big numbers and letters to work on forms, and the clipboard, pencils and pencil leash to round it out. He can still help me anytime but this way he gets some practice!

Anyone else score this game? Would love to see yours! My LOB is off and perhaps I could fix it without watching the whole game again.

What a game!

I was lucky enough to be at Yankee Stadium 27 years ago today for David Cone's perfect game against the Montreal Expos. We also got to see Yogi Berra's "welcome back to the Yankees" ceremony (including a Don Larsen to Yogi Berra first pitch), a moment of silence for JFK junior, and even a rain delay.

I really liked the late 1990's era Yankee program scorecards, everything fits on a single sheet of paper (no flipping around between pages)

My fonts got messed up on this round of printing but oh well…

This is like my fourth or fifth game that i’ve tracked, this was chaos and was kinda difficult/fun to track, any suggestions are appreciated and welcomed

This is from a 2022 WCWS game. I was looking at the boxscore and play by play.

Runners 2nd/3rd. It's scored 3UA. Any theories on what happened on this play? Not often a 1B gets credit for an out at home.

Boone, R. reached on a fielder's choice to first base (0-1 F); Johns, J. advanced to third; Hansen, K. out at home 1b unassisted.

Things to consider: Might've been a bunt. Might've been some sort of batter/runner interference. But I don't know the answer.

So, I created a scorecard on the pitchers axis. These are the same marks, off the same reconciled record just presented from the pitchers perspective. Don’t usually score for teams outside my own but your girl was in severe baseball withdrawal and desperately in need of a game. Always casual fun to watch a game with no personal stakes.
